This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Hey guys, NO ONE HAS 'PASSED AWAY " ,the bassist Marko left last yr for personal reasons,replaced with Jukka Koskinen (formerly of WinterSun) the drummer Jukka Nevalainen at this concert left a little over a yr later due to sever insomnia,his drum tech (formerly of WinterSun) and buddy Kai Hahto took over,Floor Jansen lead vocals was 10 months in with the band at this Standard setting and seminal concert event,she is their 3rd, current & final vocalist, EVERY song from this Wacken 2013 event is pure GOLD and the best versions thus far.
This singer, Floor Jansen, the six feet tall Dutchwoman, joined mid tour in late 2012 and had 48 hours to learn the setlist before the first concert in Seattle. This is ten months later and she kills every song by both the previous singers, Tarja (operatic) and Anette (pop). Personally I would suggest starting with every song at this Wacken 2013 concert including the instrumental. LOL
No one died! You may be confusing the very-much-alive Emppu with Children of Bodom guitarist, Alexi Laiho, who died in 2020. Another Finnish band, another Finnish guitarist. Also, the bass player here, Marko, left the band a couple of years back. There's also been a change of drummer since this performance.
From a vocal perspective, you haven't seen shit, Gabriel will be here soon, follow his list if you decide to go down this rabbit hole. you wont be dissapointed. And yes she is still the current vocalist. If you can't wait for Gabriel may i suggest Storytime from the same concert.

Chris would LOVE the entire 15 song Wacken 2013 performance, because Floor takes the songs he liked in 2007/2008 and makes them better. I would pick "Storytime " next.
Tuomas’ inspirations aren’t from movie scores. He is a fan of Hans Zimmer and other modern as well classical composers. But his inspiration comes from his genius musical mind and the world.

She's not kidding...Wacken is in Germany, The Wacken Open Air Festival is a huge metal fest. It's pronounced VAW-KEHN. Should you continue to check out more Nightwish (see Gabriel's lists) there are many songs from this 2013 show...you're gonna want to get that right, or fans will not watch. They'll think you're making light of a seriously talented band.
Still fantastic, and yes, Floor is still the goddess valkyrie of Nightwish and Metal. There have been two changes in the line-up since 2013. Jukka, the drummer was replaces by Kai Hahto because of his insomnia in 2015. He is still part of the band (management). and Marko (base-guitar) left the band during Corona 2021, because of his depressions. 4 Tarja check out "Phantom of the Opera" live End of an Era.

Floor changed the ending, adding that epic belt at the end (after an extended note in her head voice) known as the "note". Glad you enjoyed Nightwish. I would like to recommend another symphonic metal band that is even more epic. It's right their in their name, Epica. Dutch band (Floor is Dutch also. The rest of the band is Finnish except for sixth member Troy Donockley who you haven't met yet). Founded by Mark Jansen who was in Floor's first band After Forever until he left to form Epica. They are Nightwish's darker, heavier cousin. Fronted by the beautiful Simone Simmons. Actually Floor added much more than this 1 (EPIC) note. She added the whole melody from 9:04 in the original recording, in total 14 notes and 25 seconds of singing, ending in the majestic belt...

Movie sound tracks are a big influence on the Composer/poet lyricist Tuomas on keyboards. Staging, production sound and video recording at this Nightwish show at the Wacken festival were all managed by the Nightwish team, aka Crewish.
Of all the members of this band since 1996 when they were formed, only 5 members have left the band. None have died and are still healthy. The drummer, Jukka, stepped down 2 years after this concert because of severe insomnia but is still active in the management of the band. They are working on their 10th album. Floor is very pregnant with her second child. The bassist, Marko, retired from the band in 2021.
What Tuomas didn't realize was that he wrote his music specifically for Floor, and it took freak luck for them to hook up and reveal it. Floor Jansen brings his music to life.

Hope you guys do more. Every song is different. Some much harder, and always a quality experience. Subbed in hopes you do. No one Died. Most of band is Finnish, Floor is Dutch, and a 5th member not seen here is from the U.K. The lineup has changed due to the Drummer having medical issues so he transitioned to management, and brought his mentor Kai from Wintersun to replace him. Marko the bassist left in 2020 to take a year out of the public eye for both mental health and his anger at the industry for stifling artists over profits. Doing his own thing when he wants now. Replaced by the bassist from Wintersun Jukka. Only 3 singers and Floor is the last there will ever be - she is perfect. They just finished world tour for last album and are currently working on the next album.

Marko left over two and a half years ago. But yes, perhaps they are thinking of that. Or there could be some kind of mix-up with Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom who died in December of 2020.

Wacken 13 GLS introduced me to Nightwish. Must have seen this 100sof times and enjoy every time. If you like Nightwish and GLS sound out a cover by Andra Ariadne, that’s brilliant, almost as good as Tarja andFloor combined.

YES...Again 4 souls are taken by our Dutch Valkyrie Goddes of Metal, more Floor Jansen, watch the beste zangers 2019, she sings in different styles and different languages, she sings O Mio Babbino Caro and from the gamecube game Final Fantasy Chronicals, Sound of the Wind.. There is a video on TH-cam with all the endings of GLS and a video where she even sings the Yellow Pages in a radio-show... For Prog music, listen to Ayreon, Valley of the Queens and The Day The World Break Down are good ones to start with...
In 2007, they released the album Dark Passion Play with Anette Olzon on vocals. One of my favourite albums ever. So Floor Jansen wasn't a part of NW back then.
Welcome Gentlemen No two songs are the same. Only 3 singers Tarja was asked to leave, Anette became i'll during the US tour when she was pregnant and because she kept getting sick during pregnancy and since they temporary replaced her with Floor they realized they prefered Floor and let Anette go. The differences between the singers Tarja sing more Opera/Classical, Anette sings more Pop vocals and Floor can just sing any Genre she puts her mind to. Floor is classicaly trained and has trained in theatre and trained at a school of Rock. Floor can also growl. Marco (the bass player) sadly left the band because of personal problems (the new bass player is Jukka from Wintersun) . Beside the changes of the lead vocalist over the years, there was alao a change of drummer. Jukka (another Jukka 😊) had to stop playing because of health issues and Kai is the drummer since then (also former Wintersun) . Floor - our beloved Valkyrie Godess- is the lead singer since 2012. They just endet their last world tour a mounth ago and will do a break in playing live for a while (Floor will have her second child soon and the guys need a break after all the touring) but they are producing their next album at the moment. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

This singer, Floor Jansen, the six feet tall Dutchwoman, joined mid tour in late 2012 and had 48 hours to learn the setlist before the first concert in Seattle. This is ten months later and she kills every song by both the previous singers, Tarja (operatic) and Anette (pop). Personally I would suggest starting with every song at this Wacken 2013 concert including the instrumental. LOL

No one died! You may be confusing the very-much-alive Emppu with Children of Bodom guitarist, Alexi Laiho, who died in 2020. Another Finnish band, another Finnish guitarist. Also, the bass player here, Marko, left the band a couple of years back. There's also been a change of drummer since this performance.

She's not kidding...Wacken is in Germany, The Wacken Open Air Festival is a huge metal fest. It's pronounced VAW-KEHN. Should you continue to check out more Nightwish (see Gabriel's lists) there are many songs from this 2013 show...you're gonna want to get that right, or fans will not watch. They'll think you're making light of a seriously talented band.

Still fantastic, and yes, Floor is still the goddess valkyrie of Nightwish and Metal. There have been two changes in the line-up since 2013. Jukka, the drummer was replaces by Kai Hahto because of his insomnia in 2015. Floor changed the ending, adding that epic belt at the end (after an extended note in her head voice) known as the "note". Glad you enjoyed Nightwish. I would like to recommend another symphonic metal band that is even more epic. It's right their in their name, Epica. Dutch band (Floor is Dutch also. The rest of the band is Finnish except for sixth member Troy Donockley who you haven't met yet). Founded by Mark Jansen who was in Floor's first band After Forever until he left to form Epica. They are Nightwish's darker, heavier cousin. Fronted by the beautiful Simone Simmons. Movie sound tracks are a big influence on the Composer/poet lyricist Tuomas on keyboards. Staging, production sound and video recording at this Nightwish show at the Wacken festival were all managed by the Nightwish team, aka Crewish.

Of all the members of this band since 1996 when they were formed, only 5 members have left the band. None have died and are still healthy. The drummer, Jukka, stepped down 2 years after this concert because of severe insomnia but is still active in the management of the band. They are working on their 10th album. Floor is very pregnant with her second child. The bassist, Marko, retired from the band in 2021.

The lineup has changed due to the Drummer having medical issues so he transitioned to management, and brought his mentor Kai from Wintersun to replace him.
Marko the bassist left in 2020 to take a year out of the public eye for both mental health and his anger at the industry for stifling artists over profits. Doing his own thing when he wants now.
Replaced by the bassist from Wintersun Jukka.
Only 3 singers and Floor is the last there will ever be - she is perfect.
They just finished world tour for last album and are currently working on the next album.

Marko left over two and a half years ago. But yes, perhaps they are thinking of that. Or there could be some kind of mix-up with Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom who died in December of 2020.

In 2007, they released the album Dark Passion Play with Anette Olzon on vocals. One of my favourite albums ever.
So Floor Jansen wasn't a part of NW back then.
Welcome Gentlemen No two songs are the same. Only 3 singers Tarja was asked to leave, Anette became i'll during the US tour when she was pregnant and because she kept getting sick during pregnancy and since they temporary replaced her with Floor they realized they prefered Floor and let Anette go. The differences between the singers Tarja sing more Opera/Classical, Anette sings more Pop vocals and Floor can just sing any Genre she puts her mind to. Floor is classicaly trained and has trained in theatre and trained at a school of Rock. Floor can also growl. Nightwish Army reporting from Germany here 🤘 Hi guys, liked your reaction a lot. But Empuu (the guitarist) is - thank god - alive and excellent as ever. Marco (the bass player) sadly left the band because of personal problems (the new bass player is Jukka from Wintersun) . Beside the changes of the lead vocalist over the years, there was alao a change of drummer. Jukka (another Jukka 😊) had to stop playing because of health issues and Kai is the drummer since then (also former Wintersun) . Floor - our beloved Valkyrie Godess- is the lead singer since 2012. They just endet their last world tour a mounth ago and will do a break in playing live for a while (Floor will have her second child soon and the guys need a break after all the touring) but they are producing their next album at the moment.
