My father was the President of the Madison Regatta 2 separate years and Steve David is a good friend of ours. I used to love going to his trailer and getting free jerky haha I’ve been going to Hydroplane races since I was old enough to remember. Many great memories. It’s pretty awesome to see an RC version of the big boys!
@@M5PerfHydros if I was closer to you I WOULD!!!!! I don’t consider myself that good to do so, but thinking 🤔 bout it, I KNOW I Could Run with ye guys. Just the point that you brought it up, shows me a tonne of Respect!!!! Thank you again sir!!! Can honestly say it’s a true pleasure calling you a friend!!!!
Nice video..thanks..😊..were in the process of a boat build...we have had a pair of foam Huey hydro sponsons..like what 30 years old...lol...so with any luck will get this build finished in the water.. building a electric boat.. useing proboat drive train .2000 kv dyomite horizon hobby motor and speed controller..we are looking for a cool looking cowel for the boat...as of right now in primmer with no electronics in the boat it weight is at 2lbs... onwards..play play play.. 😊.. ❤️..
Are a lot of these hydroplanes built as a wooden kit? I’m assuming as in all other aspects of RC, many things are now fully composite. But are wooden built boats still being made?
Are there any rules/requirements for scale drivers? What if member wanted to run a clear canopy or open cockpit boat with no scale driver? I feel like I'd love to join in the distant future but I just can't put a scale driver in my boat dude... not gonna happen lol.
@@M5PerfHydros Weird. 100% weirdness. I guess I'd have to have a drop-in lol. So do they have to be Historical Drivers or can they be science fiction characters, if so I'll run the invisible man version of Chip. I model vehicles not humans, dolls, fake half dolls at that. I feel like scale drivers totally kill models, make them look instantly fake. Nobody puts full size mannequins in unmanned vehicles. My scale RC boats driver is ME with the Tx, so there should not be a doll under any circumstance. RC's should never ever have friggin dolls anywhere remotely near them. Had to rant. I feel better now. :)
Because those are "boat parts". For display and scale accuracy. As if the just machine was shrunken. So that a photo of the scale model may be indistinguishable from the full scale counterpart. At first site of the scale driver, the illusion is broken for me and the true scale becomes obvious. Honestly I'm not really sure where I draw the line lol. Not gonna servo my steering wheel but side mirrors are mandatory lol.
I live in the land of 10000 lakes and no one runs boats up here. I have a proboat miss budweiser 1/5 scale i want to covernt to electric. I would be checking out everyone's boat here for sure!! Because i dont know what motor would be enough for this old heavy pro boat.
I’m also in that same state and there used to be some active boat clubs. I can only seem to find sailing clubs now. Have you tried Twin Cities Model Boat (TCMB)?
You have a link for the round nose?
Whoops I forgot to place the link, didn't I? Here you go facebook.com/profile.php?id=100066502448551

Sounds like a fun build!

Sure, probably half of our boats are wood construction. I have lots of construction videos that are all about wood builds. Subscribe and check it out!

Gotta do it under the rules

Why then have a cockpit or seat at all?

It only takes one guy to get it started. Build a few boats and get your friends into it!
@@M5PerfHydros Very true, if I had friends. But for now, I enjoy it anyway.
