Thanks for doing this, I'm glad to hear shofu's opinions. As much as I appreciate the efforts of the developers, I feel like the monsters of temtem are too similar to each other. Diversity of creatures is something I consider to be the single most important aspect of Pokemon and all monster-catching games as a whole, or even just any kind of bestiary. Pokemon always has something for everyone, from ordinary puppies to predatory snowflakes. It's THAT that I think really makes Pokemon what it is, and how it managed to hook the entire world since the 90s. And unfortunately, I don't think most of the temtems stand out from both each other or any other "generic" kind of monster. This would be completely fine if those weren't the majority. At least they have that Stamina stat, which is absolutely better than the RNGfest that is Pokemon battling.
@@kyeda Pokemon has upheld a very high standard of diverse creature designs since day one. It has everything anyone could ever want: relatively mundane animals, living objects, obscure biology references, completely original monsters, and everything else in between. Age is not a factor I consider to be impeding; Pokemon was literally the first time I ever even saw pitcher plants or Cordyceps represented in any kind of media.
Just saw this and I want to say that I'm happy to see Shofu giving criticism to the game. While I do like Temtem a lot, I can agree with some of the designs being a bit off. Luckily the recent update released new Temtem and I would say that they look better than the old ones.
It stays wild to me that they started in 3D and they're monsters still lack the personality that Stadium and Colosseum had, they just head bobbin. Also the battlefield feels claustrophobic
Nah poison and toxic isn't interchangeable... Serviper for example is a poison type but snakes aren't poisonous they are venomous. Venom is a toxic material though. Plenty of materials can be toxic but not be poison.
I think people like temtem because of the gameplay since the battle system is new and more challenging since pokemon is becoming more easy and repetitive but it knows it’s a ripoff just with some better features
Shofu speaks facts, designs > gameplay, exactly why DQ is so popular bc all the monster designs feel alive and unique, despite the story/gameplay usually being either really generic or not really deep
Its like the TemTem devs realised people didn't like current Pokémon but didn't realise that applied to the designs as well. These all look like the worst Gen 7/8 had to offer.

A big part of the monster collection genre are the monsters themselves because they're the main appeal. You can have 🔥 gameplay but if the designs are unappealing you don't want to play it.
They don't look like animals that live in a world together. They look like random creatures on a app game
They all have the art style of baby Digimon before they get cool.
