    These are good suggestions for a stripped screw, but not a stuck screw. I've got one that someone screwed into a server rack so tight that it won't budge. My screwdriver gets a perfectly good grip, but I can't turn it manually, or with an electric screwdriver. It doesn't stick out, so I can't grab it with vice grips or pliers either.

    I love your videos. My problem is that I have a stuck screw in my shower door. I need to remove it to replace the handle of the towel bar. I cannot loosen it at all. I would probably need to send you a picture so you can see the setup. I also cannot remove the screw at the top that holds in the rollers. These doors are at least years old.

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would try a rotary tool. I know shower doors and handles are challenging. You could also try drilling out the screw with a metal bit. I don’t know if that’s possible in your situation. Thanks and may you find a good solution.

    • @mrmet15
      @mrmet15 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DaruDhillon Thanks for the quick response. I think the best bet is to drill out the screw from the other side through the broken towel bar handle. I need to try and preserve the screws so that everything matches as the screws are hard to find. If I use a rotary tool, I risk damaging the aluminum door frame. These doors are well over 50 years old.
      As far as the rollers go I could probably cut them off but I need to make sure I can find the right replacements first. The rollers work but I need to move them down one hole because the door is too high and sits above the bottom track.

    • @DaruDhillon

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hardware stores sell rust penetrant that you can apply liberally to the head of a rusted screw. This will help to break down the rust. You can also use WD-40. You should also hit the screw a few times with a hammer to loosen the rust-without damaging the screw head. I would also cut a slat in the screw head if that wasn’t enough to loosen the screw. Good luck!

      @@DaruDhillon You got back to me pretty quickly, though! 😃 I have not been able to remove all of them yet... my carpal tunnel is acting up. I am saving up for a power drill/screwdriver combo. Any tips on how to remove worn/rustled slotted (i.e flathead) screws from wood? I'm looking to reuse the timber for woodworking projects - some of it is actually quite beautiful fine-grain material. Thankfully, the wood it's attached to is where the screw heads are, so I ended up digging those out by chiseling away some of the cheap pine and then grabbing the screw with pliers. That was *very* time-consuming, though, and I still have a few dozen screws to go! 😱

    Get a screwdriver that you whack on top with a hammer. The downward force goes to a twisting motion. Theyre not expensive.

    How do you get a flat head screw out that is flat to the wood with out damaging the wood. No one has a method that works. 🤷

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My best best is to try the 5th method with some protective flat metal around the screw to prevent it from cutting into the surface. Painters tape first so it doesn’t scratch your surface. I hope you are able to find a solution. It would be a good one to figure out if anyone has another suggestion please help out!

      @@DaruDhillon yeah I don't have a rotary tool/little angle grinder. My Mum and Dad always got cowboys in and they've used flat screws to attach the Bannister. I need to remove it so I can get a washing machine past. I plan on selling up one day so I don't want to damage anything. Unfortunately none of the other ways work on a flat-headed screw 😭 my parents are no longer here so it is down to me to fix everything 🤯

    You did not allow the screw head to really be worn before using your 5 methods and method 5 try it the screw right in the wood, you end up cutting your surface

      @Shiftprince for extraction you need to have clear access to your screw and apply pressure while using your screwdriver. Pressure is key. Some situations are tricky depending on where the screw is located. Good luck.
