theres much to Bass fishing than I realized. You can throw all the different lures you want but if it isn't the right one for the job you wont get bites. I been looking at tournament Bass fishing and for the most part the anglers use most of the same lures thyey have been practicing for too long that they know what works and when. This is an amazing video.
I've fished for 30 yrs now and I'm slow to use technology bc I'm stubborn, but mainly bc I like to keep it as close to primitive as possible to keep it pure. You just explained something that I had no idea about. Really cool, thanks!
This is an excellent video. I like the science behind it and the explanation. A lot of fishing videos leave out in-depth description of the reasons behind certain changes. They just tell you do this or don't do that, without saying why. Very educational, keep up the good work!!!
Great stuff I have been fishing all my life but almost exclusively salt water. Now that I live in TN I have taken to the convenience of bass fishing on our lakes. Your videos have been great to get me started and continued interest, thanks!
I just watched all the tutorials from beginner to this intermediate and have to say what a great job you have ams are doing. I can't wait for the next one. I'm very new to fishing, only 4 months, and love how in depth you get with everything. Really looking forward to lures when you get there. Tight lines.
Hey, I know you posted this a while back and I'm not sure you will read this. But, I have watched most of your videos and love them. I am a poor guy and can't afford a baitcaster so I use a spinning combo I bought from Walmart for $10. I understand I'm just a regular 13 year old kid but I would love to learn how to fish for bass. I've only ever used a hook an worm on a spin cast. So I'm not good, so could you go over ALL types of baits and knots and how to retrieve those types? If you could I would probably be alot better. I love your videos man and keep em up. There alot of guys like me that need em.
Went out fishing last week (beginning of September). Water was murky and smelt funny. Had only one bite in four hours. Now I understand that could be the fall turnover..
I can attest to the fact that the bass keep biting after the mix. I live in Massachusetts and last winter I was kayak fishing in late November than it froze for a month or so and I fished late january and was catching fish. Not many but they were there.
Thank you Sir, Enjoyed the video. I know it's a topic all its own but perhaps you can cover fish kills and causes, such as algae blooms, parasites etc. Would have enjoyed seeing algae blooms covered during this video.
always found out that the windier the lake with big wave it is always a better bite and many fish are caught. when there is no wave you almost caught no fish.
I've watched quite a few of your videos and you need to work on your audio. The low volume to high to low to high is driving me crazy. Great info though. Keep up the good work.
Does anyone have ideas on a populated pond 4 years ago that suddenly just stops? Now about every other year or three years go by an you get a rare an lucky sight an see a 3 to 9 pounder? On the 3rd year max! Opposed to 4 years ago could go down after spawn an post spawn, an see schools of bream an bass with 4 out of 7 bass swimming by are atleast 2 pounds an up? Can fish turn gay? Or is it they never get hungry? Anyone care to elaborate? I'm a bass fisherman for the last 16 years! I know my ponds but this pond like this weather in SC is bipolar! Hardly no shade cover! Not to deep! Wide and long! Clear water until about 5 feet down! Wth is going on? Someone please share some info an knowledge with me
100% correct on the "bass stop biting" it's weird, but I guess if it weren't the way it is it wouldn't be fun! I'm tired of the bass hiding when I know it's spawn, post spawning time and even dead summer, which in south carolina it can go from 90 degrees today to 55 tomorrow! That's fucking weird! They have a mind of there on hell my pond I go to it's almost like they have an extra organ that produces food for them, never get hungry, or there are some gay fish! Cause for the past 4 or 5 years the bass have decreased an every few years you'll see a 4 to 9 pounder swimming along side shore! Guess what!? He/she isn't fucking hungry! I can throw my whole damn tackle box in the water right beside the bass an it just sits looks at it an ignores it!
Negative. I'm in Tx. But while researching, I found some good, recent data for Cave Run Lake (via the Army Corpse of Engineers), so I included that in the video.
HatCamBass The Army 'Corpse' of Engineers...lol I'll stipulate to that!! I used to deal with the Corps quite a bit before I retired and cutting through the layers of brass was definitely like dealing with the living Dead. They were a large part of our Environmental impact mitigation measures since they are in control of several dams and levees in the state of California.

That is very interesting
Great explanation of heat in the water column
Great fooking information! Please keep these coming!
Excellent information, and presentation!
Extremely informative video. Thanks!
Dude. You created the most informative video on thermocline that I’ve seen. Thank you.

This was great
Man, I have never learned so much about bass fishing in such a short amount of time. Thano you for sharing with us!
Great video, Jeff! The most informative lesson on lake turnover I've heard.
Thanks!
Incredible work, thank you Jeff!
Keep these types of videos coming. Great info. Your earlier videos on equipment got me back on bass fishing.
Thanks, Matthew! We have an episode about rods coming soon.
Thanks for putting in the time to out the info

Great work, plain clear detail information thanks.
Please update more intermediate guide series. I learn a lot from your videos. Thank you
These videos are amazing. I hope there are plans for more of these
When your scuba diving you know the thermocline :) This is true there isn't much life at all below thermocline

That's a good idea. Thanks.
outstanding video
Thanks for this video!!!
How is this explained for trout that will stay under a thermocline in the summer?
So what you're saying in Spring I'm able to fish all around the waters and everywhere
NICE!!!
does this apply to smaller lakes or larger ponds or is it mostly for larger bodies of water
Alot of lakes where i live in so cal have heavy winds in the middle of summer so is that mean the dead zone will be much deeper?
Typically, yes. That wind keeps the body of water well mixed and you don't get a thermocline region that is so pronounced.
We got a bunch of bums around my lake that throw trash, shit and piss in it. How does this affect the fish?
So is this why they say a lil wind is good while fishing?
That has more to do with the ecosystem of a lake being "activated" or "turned on" by wind. It stirs up micro-organisms making it more active.
always found out that the windier the lake with big wave it is always a better bite and many fish are caught. when there is no wave you almost caught no fish.
I wish u do one for walleyes
I've watched quite a few of your videos and you need to work on your audio. The low volume to high to low to high is driving me crazy. Great info though. Keep up the good work.
Maybe your ears don't work correctly?
What about lakes, such as Grand, that lack aquatic vegetation?
Our lakes usually turn over rite when we get that big heat wave
How/when do you fish when there is daily afternoon storms?
Do you live in Florida you don't have to answer but whenever I've been there is a daily storm.
Have any of you fished Cave Run Lake in Kentucky? Let me know!
HatCamBass yeah i do but never find good success idk what i am doing wrong but as always i grind it out.
Ok, I was curious to how the bass fishing was. I don't know much about it other than the oxygen/temp data I researched.
Awesome series, when should we expect the next video?
There's been a little delay, unfortunately. But new episodes are in the works.
Any update on the next video's release date?
Definitely by Thanksgiving.
Great! Thanks for the quick reply. You guys rock and I'm learning fast.
