Amazed to see this BBC coverage in such clarity. I have a DVD of the game with Wolstenholme's commentary but a dreadful picture quality. ITV also covered the game and a tape exists somewhere in their archives.
A fascinating tactical point is that Bobby Charlton was nominally the left winger but Alf Ramsey was using him more & more through the centre of midfield which is where he ultimately played his greatest football.

Yes, that's correct, Santos wanted £10,000 from the FA before they would let Pele play, he said he would have loved to play, but in those days the clubs had all the power!
Goncalo G, yes Pele was not allowed to play by his club Santos, as they wanted £10,000 from the FA, for his services! So the FA, decided not to pay this enormous amount for those days, apparently he so much wanted to play, but his club said no £10k no play!
I don't think they had the technology for replays until the 1966 world Cup. Hence the famous ball hitting the underside of the bar then onto the goal line and out.

My grandfather took me to the game as a 12 year old. I am so lucky to have seen so many great players. What a pass by that great Hungarian Puskas.
No one to compare with Jimmy Greaves. Saw him live a number of times. He was magic.
