@Brian Hardaway every straight man needs his funny man and both of them when working together makes it work perfectly. The comedy in this was just nice clean comedy that didn't rely too heavily on pop culture and bad language. It setup the joke and did it and it was the cast's actual talents that made it work.
Yeah, in addition to being a straightforward "Straight- Man/ Funny- Man" duo, their relationship really is quite complex when you think about it. Some moments (Such as this scene), you can tell Carl wishes he could take Steve out back and go all LAPD on him, but then other moments, it's clear that he really is quite fond of Steve and deeply treasures their friendship.

Now Steve say that it for today. Then Carl said 321 123 what the heck is bothering me? Then Carl yell you! At Steve. Then Steve scream. Carl said what bothered me to Steve Carl was pounding on his chest and chase Steve. Steve enter the bmv isetta and Steve closed the bmv isetta door on Carl. Carl try grab Steve from bmv isetta sun roof and Steve close the sunroof. Now when Carl the isetta bumper shaking the bmv isetta up and down with Steve. Then Steve says help then bmv isetta airbags come out of Steve. Steve hit on the airbag steering wheel. Carl was hitting the bmv isetta bumper with his right hand. Now Steve say you activate the airbag!

Now, they don't even show those shows on that channel. Although, I still see Sister Sister on channel Fuse, and Full House -- they are airing re-runs of the shows on channel CMT now before Home Improvement comes on. I miss the simpler times. Agreed! It was a very balanced show. And the last part of this clip showed how much a true friend Steve was. He was close to getting creamed b to Carl (lol!) When Carl suddenly has a major dizzy spell and almost collapsed on the ground. And after the way Carl raged after him he still went and got help. A true friend and a true hero.
Especially since she had a long conversation with Dr. Van Low and he told her about him giving Carl a list of things to do to lower his high blood pressure. The list contains reducing his salt intake, start a low fat/low cholesterol diet, exercise everyday and set up an appointment to see a licensed therapist to help him properly deal with his stress. Harriette pointed out that 1,23, poem wasn't only not on the list, but also how disappointed she was in Carl for lying to her about it.
I just ordered Season Four of "Family Matters" on DVD, & this particular episode's on it - I can't wait to see the full episode of "Driving Carl Crazy", so I can laugh myself into a hernia! This DVD will be arriving @ my apartment tomorrow (2/18/14). Like I said, I can't wait! This is my favorite ep. of "FM"! The look on Carl's face is priceless (right before he loses his temper when chasing Steve Urkel)! Bravo, Carl Otis Winslow & Steven Quincy Urkel!
I remember the "clown car" gag during the closing credits of this episode. Every cast member stepped out of Steve's car individually, including 81-year-old Rosetta Lenoire who understandably took the longest. Bless her heart! R.I.P., Mother Winslow.

Steve was always admitting fault to his mistakes. It became more known that Carl and other people were at fault for things that broke. In a way, Carl became somewhat like Tim on "Home Improvement".
This show premiered when I was about 4 months old on 9/22/89. I really wish I could've been old enough to remember when these episodes originally aired. I remember watching when S7 and possibly 8 were on. But that's when the show started going insane with Steve's inventions.
When Steve first stopped chasing Laura & focused on Myra was also a point of no return. Yes, we soon discovered Myra was a little on the crazy side, but it made Steve's return to Laura later a little anticlimactic.
It made sense because no matter how much Steve committed to Myra, he wasn't interested in her whatsoever. He told her flat out he loves Laura with all his heart and nothing she does will ever change it. Myra should've let Steve go and find someone else who loves her for her. She went too far with her pursuit and never got the hint he didn't like her at all. Myra did one good thing in Steve and facilitated his change from annoying nerd to a mature adult by making him endure the same stalking on a worse scale. Other than that, she did more harm than help.

Steve was always admitting fault to his mistakes. It became more known that Carl and other people were at fault for things that broke. In a way, Carl became somewhat like Tim on "Home Improvement".
This show premiered when I was about 4 months old on 9/22/89. I really wish I could've been old enough to remember when these episodes originally aired. I remember watching when S7 and possibly 8 were on. But that's when the show started going insane with Steve's inventions.
Stephen R "Stefan" is when the show jumped the shark.
When Steve first stopped chasing Laura & focused on Myra was also a point of no return. Yes, we soon discovered Myra was a little on the crazy side, but it made Steve's return to Laura later a little anticlimactic.
Wow, if that is true I just realized it premiered on the day that Hurricane Hugo hit.
I was 2 when it came on.
It made sense because no matter how much Steve committed to Myra, he wasn't interested in her whatsoever. He told her flat out he loves Laura with all his heart and nothing she does will ever change it. Myra should've let Steve go and find someone else who loves her for her. She went too far with her pursuit and never got the hint he didn't like her at all. Myra did one good thing in Steve and facilitated his change from annoying nerd to a mature adult by making him endure the same stalking on a worse scale. Other than that, she did more harm than help.

The most unbelievable part of this scene to me is right at the end Steve jumps and lands perfectly off the top of the car. Theres no way someone with that complete lack of coordination doesnt eat it on the landing.
