The idea was nice n cool..
But there are always have some limitation with brushless fan like that..
overall.. for simple job like sanding simple work or sharpen the knife it should be no problem..

If I remember correctly most pc fans are 12 dc motor not 24 . The idea is nice it’s not orbital sander and not strong as , you can test it while pressing down on it if it’s slows down than it’s inefficient but for low budget it’s good idea.

Don't forget to change the brass bearings of the fan to heavy duty rolling bearings... in order to keep it from desintegrating in your hand. Maybe the housing of those bearings could be changed to some metal one. But that needs a lathe, and if you have one, you can make a real excentric shaft for a 100-200 Watt motor... instead of a cheaply made computer fan.
I don't want to say it's a bad idea, but the reliability of this contraption is poor, due to the cheap bearings and the fact that the handle is directly mounted on the resonating unit. Good one, for those who don't want to use it regularly.

I have taken apart many computer fans and they are ball bearing, not just brass bushing. But, yes, I think the lifespan must be short with the imbalance.

This is more like oscillating multi-tool. Bolts will mess up the bearings of the fan. Also it won't have any cooling and will start heating without airflow. Too much vibrations for your hand.
