The Internet has some very strange opinions, doesn't it. I liked Longlaegs - I'm a big fan of Oz Perkins, really liked The Blackcoat's Daughter - but I think it's, like, an 8/10. A bit over explained towards the end and a bit meandering at the start, but made me want to watch it again to see if I missed something huge. But yeah, I love how the movie really makes you study the frame. 9 times out of 10 you won't see anything but it really draws you into thinking that you might.
I still need to watch The Blackcoat’s Daughter, but I’ll have to seek it out now because Longlegs was fantastic. It was a little bit meandering I suppose but I liked that it really made you sit with that dread, it was slow but never boring. It all worked for me by the end
I really enjoyed it too My biggest complaint in the film was the distracting photo of Bill Clinton, and if thats my biggest complaint then its probly a pretty damn good movie
The only thing I thought was that the photo of Bill Clinton was to establish the time period, same with the Richard Nixon photo in the 1970s scenes. But I agree it kinda took me out at first, and as you say, if that’s the biggest complaint, then it’s a damn good film!
Really reminded me of the second X-Files movie, where they really honed in on the George W Bush pic. I think that yes, it is about establishing the time period, but my friend was very distracted by it too.
If you enjoy Oz Perkins' direction, then check out The Blackcoat's Daughter as well.
Just checked out The Blackcoats Daughter, damn that was fucked up. Loved it though!
