It was wild huh... In the beginning I def got the vibes she was hustling but they fizzled that away and set you up for a plot twist anyway. I knew it would end in her favor, just not like it did.. lol.
I wish the internet movie community didn't have so many 'comment warriors' that can't resist talking about the end of movies. I wonder if it makes them feel intelligent to speak of things others haven't had a chance to experience for themselves.

I’ve been watching movies for as long as I can remember and that twist at the end with the kidney donation poster of Shamoo’s belly scar was a twist I never spotted. I’m usually able to call the twist before it’s revealed but damn did this one get me… well freaking down. Hot damn did this movie deliver.
Shaky premise for a film with a dark, unrealistic incarnation on the game of pool but the talents of the writers, actors, and the direction made the winning rabbit out materialize from a magical top hat. Really good flick.
@THOTHvii I myself, a Pa yank, have never been privy to the ways of my great southern brethrin, but I have very strong reasons to believe this film has no need to make or take use of dramatic liberties to create a rather realistic representation of one aspect of our nation's grey economic and less polite social activities. Of course this does represent the somewhat more extreme end of the spectrum, but it is not that far from what is much more common than most average folk know of or are willing to acknowledge in polite society. Edit: PS, love the Mr Ebert😂 2nd edit: PSS, I spoke a little too soon (3/4 through the film). There were definitely some dramatic liberties taken, but none the less, I stand by the main essence of my comment and it's essence. Peace man!
@@Skunk106 I get it... It just cracks me up cause people will visit Knoxville or Memphis and eat some food around the locals and that is the basis of their experience of the south.. I have been to clubs like this when I was just Little Nick's age. The main game was "Hi-lo" a high accumulating split pot poker game. I would spectate as my step dad played and I would shoot pool until I became pretty good. That was one little club that I knew about. There were others that were more secretive or more expensive. The thing is Macon County TN is the MOST racist place I have ever lived and I personally knew of worse places that I just wouldn't visit, even as a white guy. There were definitely people like the middle-aged Nick in this movie, and people even worse. Honestly, the biggest thing that wouldn't be true to real life is they (people like that, back then) would never have let DuBinion leave the property alive, in the first place, so the plot of this movie wouldn't have happened. LOL there are youtube videos on the racism in my old town. Search "Pastor Dowell, racism in lafayette tn"... That guy used to go visit the inmates in the county jail waaaay back in the day. At one point back in 2003 I was an inmate because I like cannabis and it is highly illegal there.. Anyways, We all got ready for "church" in the pod and headed down the hallway. There were 18 of us going. We open the door and they all see a big ole black man and right then all but 4 of us turn around and go back to the pod.... They didn't even want to listen to the black man's words. From what I understand that man purchased some property down in "pumpkintown". They would not let this family out in the town UNLESS it was Sunday during daylight without them being harassed. that comment I replied to was just silly cause it could happen, lol. But, like I said, ONLY if they let the black guy get away to come up with this plan later.
more lame than good..and bad shots really on a bunch of shots for professional players...and young nick talks too much like a tattle tell...and what was with him playing and twirling that shim out in the open like that?
Well, well, well,,, it started as if it was gonna be a snoozer BUT as the story developed it became an excellent movie. Worth the 2 hours.

I take it you have never been privy to southern states back in the day? There was nothing really unrealistic about this movie, Mr. Ebert
