    Ive been doing resi for around ten years and its true, commercial units can be an entirely different animal.
    That lennox is a very nice machine.

    Hi, Pay, TB here. They have a combo humidity and temp sensor that accepts all of the wires. It's a 21W06. In fact, I bet your humidity senor could be one of those, and the contractor mounted an extra sensor for temp because he didn't know. This is a good find.
    NAS keeps me busy with follow-ups to their installs... just like that one.
    I have a repair being approved for a pet grooming salon, where the M3 controller is keeping that reheat valve energized during cooling. When the cooling call overrides the dehum mode, that valve is supposed to drop out. I found it a week ago, and it had been that way for three years. I will post about it on HVAC-Talk when it's done.

    nice video and good work. I troubleshoot for experienced electricians that are wire pullers in commercial, it is amazing they cant troubleshoot there own work.

    Always awesome videos. Learning lots about HVAC stuff from someone who knows what's up. I imagine it's not easy to film on the job, but keep it up!

      Yeah I don't make nearly the amount of videos that I could.
      When I get a chance to let a unit cycle or something I will film.
      Sometimes explaining the unit operation in a video will get me thinking and that helps keep me sharp.
      So it's training for me as well. LOL

    Great video! Lennox RTU`s can be a little overwhelming sometimes, I'm still not real comfortable with some of them. But if you read the literature that really, really helps! Can't say it enough, READ THE INSTRUCTION! BEST advice I ever got. lol

    Nice find.. a good tool to help find issues like this fast with incorrectly landed sensors is a toner. Got one from lowes I believe. Just leave it hooked up on wire and go through all wires coming up to roof. It will start flashing and beeping when you get close to correct wire.

    • @hackfreehvac
      @hackfreehvac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I don't know why I've never bought a toner.
      I've used them in the past for ethernet wiring and the such.
      But not so much on HVAC.
      Once I got access into the space below it didn't take too long to figure it out.
      I just needed to see what was feeding that voltage range. Once I saw the CO2 was normal I realized it was probably wired to the Humidity sensor and indeed it was.
      A lot of the wires are in conduit and in the wall with metal j-boxes behind each separate stat and sensor so the toner wouldn't have helped here.

      Not saying you have to have.. I have one and rarely use it. Used it more at last company with cpc input boards and multiple cases. Mostly use meter now to confirm wires but it's nice to have when needed. Saves multiple trips up and down ladders for sure.

    Caught a similar fault on one of our dishwashers for a large hospital; Wire harness was mislabeled from the factory essentially leaving one of the fill valves disconnected.

    Those HVAC guys that work with Ammonia systems make about that much per hour or more. Those units use 50 to 350 HP motors or even higher, and they are rotary screw compressors. Frick is the big name in that industry.

  • @kennyw7453
    @kennyw7453 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Safe to say that unit was not originally commissioned. At a minimum it looks they they did not even do a point-to-point checkout to make sure all inputs and outputs were terminated correctly on both ends. I wonder how long it has been operating that way. Nice find and fix.

      Arizona, which has high demand and all, doesn't pay too high here. But cost of living is good.
      Pay is like 23 to 33 range generally with some higher 30's in some niche areas.

    • @hackfreehvac
      @hackfreehvac  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah there are thermostats with both. There will be the normal 24VAC outputs for fan heat and cool and then a 2-10/4-20mA analog signal for CO2

      As long as they feel cool air blowing, it is good. LOL
      I go to jobs all the time that had "Test and balance" by a separate vendor after start up and I can see that there is no way the economizers or fresh air dampers were possibly adjusted at all!

    • @hackfreehvac
      @hackfreehvac  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And in this example, you wouldn't notice the problem until it gets humid.
      We have a few weeks at a time where the humidity is above 20% so most of the time that IAQ input was not being affected much by being wired to the Humidity sensor.
