    Nieto-Phillips' research has focused on the ways in which race, language, and education have shaped changing notions of Latino identity and US citizenship.
    The lecture was sponsored by Charles L. Padilla and Northwestern Mutual.
    This lecture is part of an initiative by SAR to support Latino scholarship. With the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, SAR is now offering two annual fellowships focused on Latino studies.
