This channel definitely has a very cosy warm feeling to it after a long day. This is just the right channel to sit down and watch with a cup of tea. This was also a very great video by the way! 👍😁 always look forward to a brand new video.
It’s interesting seeing Norbot so cozy and welcoming with W&G knowing how things will play down in the special. Wish we had something like this in the states
I've been awaiting you to do a video on the idents since i seen them last night, one of the first things that popped into my head was actually your original video talking about why people associate wallace and gromit with Christmas. great video
I love the Aardman Christmas idents, the Shaun the sheep ones last year I think were great and it's great to see Wallace & Gromit comes this year. Idents have become so dull this past decade or so, Christmas really brings some more interesting ones out
8:01 I wonder if maybe that's sounding a bit like reused Peter Sallis Wallace audio? I could totally be wrong, and props to Whitehead's Wallace if that's the case. Also, while not Christmas-themed, there were also a few World of Invention BBC One idents.
@@TheHellInspector Probably overthinking it, but I hope it's not because of potential lesser confidence in Whitehead's portrayal or anything like that. I'd assume that they just didn't want to bring him in simply to do a couple minor exclamations in a few idents. Though it's weird as I'm not sure this has happened elsewhere post-Sallis retirement.
Yo Merry Christmas! It’s finally that time of the year! This definitely feels like that kind of cozy channel for Christmas! And 25 days till the new film I can’t wait! Have you ever thought of reviewing all the shorts and film before the new one comes out?
Merry Christmas to you too! Yes I've thought about it quite a bit, not sure I'd physically be able to review all of them before the film releases, but it should definitely happen at some point.
First Christmas for Aardman since Shaun in 2021. The 1995 ident for A Close Shave still holds up. It wasn't the constant loop that creeped me out, it was the 2 that in the trailer stings had been a terrible house guest being strung up with lights and still, as if the boys had killed and mounted it... The original 30 second cut on the DVD also provides a jump scare at the end, as the music fades out, and Wallace and Gromit suddenly wink at you, then bam! Cut to black. Geez... The point about the loop is illustrated in the Ice Sculpture ident with Norbot replacing the glove again, and again, and again, and, again, and now it's getting unnerving. As ever with these things, it takes a few watches. I didn't spot Feathers in the card until viewing again, and I didn't see him on the tree or in the window until pointed out here. As noted by others, Ben Whitehead doesn't do all the voices for The Big Light Up and Ice Sculpture. Just like with Hutch in Curse of the Wererabbit, the lines are actually archive clips of Peter Sallis. Another fond throwback to Xmases past. The "Ha Ha!" in The Big Light Up is taken from Feathers' defeat in The Wrong Trousers - "Well done! We did it! Ha Ha!", and the "Wahey! Ha Ha!" in Ice Sculpture is from the Soccamatic episode of Cracking Contraptions - "Wahey! Ha Ha! Watch out for me Nobby Stiles, Gromit!" That was the first Cracking Contraptions episode I saw back then, so it definitely got me going. I don't know why the last one was unannounced, seems strange. That one's of course for the news, as per the tradition for BBC1 idents at this time of year. There is always a still, more sombre ident in the set, with softer, quieter, music, so that it's appropriate for the seriousness of the news, and also The King's Speech. I also remember the continuity nod the Doctor Who one from 2009 had. The main ident featured David Tennant's Tenth Doctor messing around in a beautiful Northern Lights backdrop, with just the backdrop and a soft, quiet version of the music for the news, but on New Year's Day, after the episode went out and Tenth had regenerated into Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor, they used the news ident for the rest of the day. Gold Star! Aardman gave themselves extra work with Shaun in 2021, as they had morning, noon and night versions, which all needed a news version without the cast, so six idents in total that year. That's 4 BBC Xmases now for Aardman, 3 with W&G and 1 with Shaun. They own the festive season, now.
An excellent analysis! It's lovely that Sallis' legacy lives on through these archive clips. Great to learn about the ident traditions too, such as the quieter versions for the news. Such effective usage for Doctor Who upon Tennant's regeneration, didn't know that!
Good for you fellah. Get that tree up! Christmas Day wouldn't be quite right without W&G and a tree. Even the Idents deserve some sparkle. How times have changed, not that long ago Trees went up on Christmas Eve Night. It seems that Christmas ends just after, or during Boxing Day. I haven't owned a telly since the 2,000s. I will have to wait for the Disc, If there is one?
Absolutely! There's no news on a physical release as of yet, but it'll be available on BBC iPlayer. Out of curiosity, if you don't have a TV, how will you play the disc? 😅
@@SomeBoiOnline Will Netflix's involvement potentially complicate a physical release for now? Apparently Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget still doesn't have such a release, although that was made under different Netflix-exclusive circumstances rather than the BBC One/iPlayer case with Vengeance Most Fowl, so that could also allow for a physical release.

It's perfectly understandable in this day and age, lots of people just don't watch telly anymore and I don't blame them. This film will be a rare example of something worth watching! All the best and really appreciate the support.
I was hoping there'd be some idents to go with the return! They look great, and so good to see something like this in 2024, i feel like the art of idents has kinda been lost a bit.
Funny you should mention that, apparently they made it entirely with AI this year, which is pretty awful in every sense of the word. Usually love the Coca-Cola Christmas ads!
So, here in Australia it looks like Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is getting a limited cinema release (probably just one showing) on the 19th dec. Is this happening in the Uk do you know or anywhere else?
From what I understand, it's having a very limited cinema release (at one or two locations next to Aardman), but they still haven't officially announced this.
@@SomeBoiOnline I've got a good ear for this, it's a mix for sure. The first ident is all Ben, second is Ben then Peter Sallis, and the final is just Peter Sallis.

I love the festive setup! Christmas has begun! 🎉⛄️
Thank you, it certainly has! 😁
@SomeBoiOnline Always thought the channel and christmas went hand in hand! 🙌🎄
Yes bro I love your new intro and your decorations ❤❤❤❤
Glad you like the Christmas theming! 🎄
I'm really excited for the new film! Christmas Day plans sorted!
Absolutely! 🎄

Yes it's definitely interesting to see a new angle to Norbot's character, very reminiscent of Fluffles at the end of the last film!
Me and my family going to watch this on Christmas day when it comes out on BBC iPlayer
Love to hear that! 🎄
Lovely Christmas decorations!! 🎄
Thank you!

I like your Christmas Jumper, can you show it all👍
Will do! 😉

Just seeing these idents and realising that we’re getting closer to the film is making me a bit emotional.
It's nearly time! 🥺
Small things like these make Wallace and Gromit a Timeless duo. And also they're new friends!
Yes it's great to see Norbot getting some love!
10:03 Ooooh I like the little photo of younger Wallace from Were-rabbit.
Good spot! Presumably from back in his heyday of Inventing!
Have a great December I'm so exited to learn more and see more of the new film have a great one
Thanks so much, you too! ❄️

It could be! I'm honestly not sure, as they've often went back and forth with the sound bites in these idents.
It’s reused audio, it’s from the Soccamatic Cracking Contraption Short.

Jealous of that blue strategist Christmas ornament, I have all the glass ones except that one and it’s so rare 😭
I didn't realise it was, had it a while but just gotten the red Drone this year to match my prop!
Notice how Wallace's W mug lines with his HO jumper to make the word 'who'. Doctor Who reference perhaps?
Oh my god, that's amazing 😂
