Mercedes r129 widebody cap & rotor cleaning & changing cam sensor 1991 500sl

Since the car sat for several months and now almost a full year there has been an issue starting and then once it gets hot it would stall and not start again. Can we finally resolve this issue?

I've never actually looked in the engine bay of a Mercedes. Pretty neat design they have. Seeing dual cap and rotors is a first for me.

@@mikechan2044 I paid $4200. It was a good deal but needed a little work. Most things worked and at the time it looked very nice.

Check out your idle control valve and the rubbers that's connected to them. That definitely has it's problems with idling smooth, stalling, and missing and even backfiring.

Im sure you are aware that the wiring harness disintegrate on these cars right?

That actually started the year after but I found that any car still running and being maintained today has had these all replaced or repaired. But yes that could always be an issue

I didn’t know your motor had a CAR AND ROTER I keep saying check your coils but it’s the same thing GOOD JOB tho this was the same thing as coils

So this happens to be the oldest version of the 5 liter motor they Offered in The r129. This one still has the Bosch jet tronic thing that’s a complicated fuel injected carburetor. But they didn’t go with coils till 96 and of course than you also get an obd2 port for diagnostic. These years you just have to test things out till it works right.

Could be a few different things. Could be your dash lights went out. Check fuses first. Could also be your switch.

I drained all the gas when I did the new fuel lines and filter. I may need to clean the injectors or just run a bunch of cleaner
