    These teapots are just beautiful, I never knew about Antiques until I was in my late 40’s, my Dad had passed away so I longed to be close to the only family member that was left, his sister, I became very close to her she lived into her 90’s, and was very active, cut her own grass, she was an avid collector, she couldn’t drive so I started taking her to Antiques shops, I became hooked, I started out collecting the old Pink Willow dishes, it was the hunt that made it so much fun, she lived in a little small cottage that was filled with her Antiques, her yard on a small scale was just like yours, she could grow anything, I think that is what has drawn me to you, she taught me so much and now I am still learning from you!

    I just love the fact I can go somewhere that I feel so at home! I collected tea pots and was shamed for it! Years ago by family! I collected many things, sewing things from days gone by, various things! I am thankful this very day for you! Bless your heart! Thank you for sharing your treasures!

      Minimalist bores me... we love color, pattern and design, The fact is, we love art. and that is what is lacking in the Minimalist decor, in my opinion. Can you imagine walking into a Minimalist Museum?!

      @@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow How funny! The only good thing for me would be how much easier it would be to clean. But, like you, I would be bored silly. I have to fill every nook and cranny with the things I love. We love the same things, but I also collect antique music boxes and colored glassware.

    I absolutely loved your video of your kitchen tour! I’ve always loved antiques. My father taught me to appreciate antiques. He bought me my first antique trunk. I use it as a coffee table where I display my antique flower painted tin tray, plants etc. You’ve inspired me to collect tea pots and antique transfer wear. My kitchen is coming along too. Most of my stuff I’ve purchased at thrift stores and antique shops. I love all of your videos. 🌺💕

    Incredible collection! Would love to see more! Not being a coffee drinker, I always wondered why coffee pots were made tall. I was recently told that they were designed tall so you didn't end up with coffee grounds in your cup. I have been collecting tea pots + cups and saucers. Now I will have to look out for metal ones!! Especially love those enamel and pewter ones!

    • @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
      @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that IS interesting! I never even thought about it before, but it makes sense. I have another theory; the coffee had to be percolated, so many of the pots had an "cup" insert of tin with tiny holes in it, which fitted at the top of the pot, that's where the coffee grounds were. Therefore the coffee pot had to be tall to fit the cup in. I had one like that once.

    Oh my....your collecting reminds me so much of my late mother. She passed away 3 years ago from ovarian cancer quite suddenly & I’ve missed seeing her come home with her “new finds” from junk shops and antique stores. Although…my dad still lives in their 1888 Victorian home (which she ran as a b&b for 18 years) so I can visit her treasures when I clean house for him. I love history & collected right along side of her. We live in Washington State....so not as many antiques to choose from around here...she and I would travel back east (where she was from originally) & even to England to find goodies to decorate their rather large home. The b&b guests loved drinking from fine bone China & sleeping on antique wrought iron beds☺️ I hope you share more of your collections. I find them interesting & think more people should document these items as a link back to our ancestors. Things are not what’s really important in this life....but they can sure evoke memories of loved ones of our past. I pray you will enjoy your treasures as much as my mom did🙏💕

    • @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
      @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trisha, thank you for the wonderful comment, such nice memories of your mom. It was also my mother that got me interested in collecting and history. I refinished my first piece of antique furniture, a chiffarobe, when I was around 13 years old. I agree that these are merely "things", that provide a link to an entirely different era, and culture, which shouldn't be forgotten. i find that most people do enjoy that piece of the past provided by sleeping in that old bed, paging through an antique leather bound book with marbled endpapers and raised printing, or drinking tea from a fine old silver pot. Cheers!

    I love this collection and so interesting. Pewter has always reminded me of a castle and what you might find in it. But my absolute favorite piece is the ironstone creamer with the silver top. I adore white ironstone and would love collecting the ones with the silver trim. If you ever want to rehome that little ironstone creamer, let me know. lol

      That little ironstone creamer was a special find from a most unlikely place; I've never seen another one like it.

    Jeri, we are so alike in our interests. I have been an antique dealer for over 40 years and have so many different "collections" like you. I have a "jug" collection of small ironstone and a few of English transferware. My main love was always furniture, which made it a little difficult to move around easily and to have enough space to have them! I have a collection of small painted stools which are easier to store.

      Sharon, I followed in my mothers footsteps as a lover of history and antiques.English Transferware, is so beautiful, I have just a few pieces.What kind of furniture do you love? I am most drawn to the Early AMerican Primitives in the form of pie safes, cupboards, etc. Old toys and sewing items are some of my favorite collectables, especially the spool boxes.

      @@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Hi Jeri, I love almost all beautiful, hand crafted furniture. I went through an Eastlake style phase (still love it) and for several years its mainly primitives, old kitchen cabinets by Sellers or Hoosier Companies, flour bin tables, I have a really cute enamel top one with faded green legs now. If you go to facebook and look up Sarah Whitcomb Antiques page, that was my shop for almost 6 years. I am still selling inventory from it! Click on photos and you can see a huge variety of everything. Some of the photos are of other dealers who rented space in my store. I was in a 5000 square ft. old fruit packing "shed" lovely old wood floors. But very cold in winter and too hot in summer!

    Could you share what are a couple of your favorite tea brands?

    • @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
      @JeriLandersofHopalongHollow  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly! My very favorite winter tea is called "Hot Cinnamon Spice" by Harney and Sons. They make great teas, of all kinds. I also love their Earl Grey and for special occasions try this:Royal Wedding Tea. Its a blend of White tea with Pink Rosebuds! Another wonderful brand of tea makers are Fortnum and Mason, they've been making tea since the early 1700's and are the official tea makers for the Royalty of England ever since. At this very moment I am sipping a cup of "Queen Anne", it is strong and smooth. You may find these teas on AMazon or on the websites of the companies.
