- The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, is holding public hearings from 19 to 26 February 2024 on the request for an advisory opinion regarding the Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. These hearings are taking place at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court, under the presidency of Judge Nawaf Salam, President of the Court. In this session, we heard from Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, and Mauritius.
Israel and the United States and the European Union with them were against human rights. We are humanitarian people in the world, but in Gaza, what kind of violence has started with children, women and poor people? Is it not against human rights? And either you provide human rights for your people or human rights are only for America and the European Union.

Mauritius is calling the Israeli occupation an illegal occupation without distinguishment. I would however distinguish that the British are not, were not and won't ever be indigenous people to Mauritius or their Chagos Archipelago. The Israeli are however indigenous to the region and do have a valid claim to live there. The claim Mauritius makes is false because in the case of Israel there is no colonization, it's indigenous peoples having a dispute with another indigenous peoples about their rights to self-determination for which each require their own state and government.
