Any team would be over the moon if you told them they would be up 3-1 in the cup final. Its almost like we are disrespecting the Panthers for not sweeping, its strange. If the Oil win game 5 maybe we can begin to sort of think reverse sweep, but lets be honest lets see how game 5 goes first.

Game 4 strengthened Bob's case for MVP should the Panthers win, not weaken it, unless you're leaning towards McDavid. That game showed that if Bob isn't on top of his game, Florida gets caved in.
The Leafs are stuck with Marner as he isn't going to waive his clause as is his right. Crazy to think that the Leafs consider themselves stuck with Marner that they want gone, but are thrilled to have Matthews at 13.25 mil. Completely backwards in Toronto.

Tavares' 11.5 comes off the books next year. Brodies' 5.5 this year, Bertuzzi's 5 this year...the cap is also going up from 82 to 87, so there's another 5M...The prudent thing to do would be to let Marner play his contract out and decide from there whether or not to extend him...If not then, as you've said...cap space ain't nothing

Bettman introduced cap in the NBA. Same with the NHL. Add the lockouts. Simple stats of playoff appearances and cup wins and you’ve stretched the goal posts (context) to suit YOUR narrative. The analytics said Game 1 should have been won by the Oilers and Bob stole that game. The Oilers cracked Bob and the score reflected the win that they should have had in game 1. The Panthers are scared. Why else would they embarrass themselves playing the lame duck barely able to move trying to draw major penalties and getting the Oilers tossed from the game.

sorry you are giving Bob way too much credit - majority of the shots were at his chest and pads - in game 4 Oilers were hitting the targets and Bob couldn’t stop those shots - in all the 40+ years I’ve watched Stanley Cup playoffs a goalie hasn’t won the Conn Smythe after a performance like Bob had in game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals (the last series for the cup)
If Marner isn’t playing with Matthews, his numbers will likely suck because as we all know, he can’t create his own shots. Yes he circles on the outside very well…but that’s about it.
He played well with Tavares for quite awhile, that’s when Tavares had his best leaf seasons
