Fun fact: the tradition of yellow thread was started by Levi Strauss who used linen thread (which was commonly dyed yellow in the 1850s) because it was stronger than cotton thread 😊
17:17 : The jacket became blue because of the blue cloth you used to clean the original stain. You can see the blue tint very well at 14:42 . Make sure you use a white cloth when cleaning stains on fabric, otherwise the dye can run on the item.
That star patch idea is great! I’ve often had clothes with a stain or rip in a weird place that a patch wouldn’t work, but making it bigger make it look intentional. Thanks.
Yassss - I’m all about up-cycling clothing!! So great for our environment 💛💛 Could you all do a video on how to create multiple different outfits with a handful of neutral clothing items?? 🥰 Loved the video! 💛
Gosh, I just love Becky. She is so relatable and down to earth. I was just thinking about how I miss the vlogs and then we get this "vlogey" type video 😁💖
I really like to see only one half of TSG on video, Kelsey with the jewlery video from last week and now yours. I feel like we really see your own personnalities 😊😉 Des bisous de France 🇫🇷😘
I grew up in pants mom had “taken in the waist” for me. One of the first sewing skills I had to learn for myself. I’ve now been doing this for nearly every pair of pants my son wears.
I also have a weird emotional attachment to some of my not-nice-shirts, like "oh this is the $10 tshirt I bought in Maine 6 years ago after spilling ice cream all over my blouse, I can't get rid of this one!"
As my English teacher would always say: the important thing is to communicate, to spread your message. The guy understood what you said, but felt superior by correcting you. English is your first language, sure, but we sometimes forget words and meanings of things in our mother tongues, come on, the brain is a tricky thing. As a Brazilian living in Canada, I like when people correct me, so I can learn, but the important thing is to make ourselves understood.
Exactly! Back in a lab class I took, I was trying to find my lab coat, but couldn't think of the term, so said "science jacket". lol I think I prefer that name much better
My “not so nice to wear out turned into sleep shirts” are my boyfriend and I’s old work shirts from Ben and Jerry’s (where we met) and this year I started to turn them into a quilt because some are getting really bad
hanna meier YUP! We worked at one of the scoop shops. We had three near us all owned by one person. Scoop shops are all over but some places the closest one will be hours away.
I had no idea that was called a dart in English. My mom taught me that hack, and you can do it with any pants that are too big for you. For example, the waist band on my pajamas has just worn out, but I love my pajamas so I took in the waist by adding a "dart." In Polish it's called a "szczypanka." I did not even know it had a term in English. I learned something new! I also need to organize my closet, do some sewing, and I wanna reconstruct one of the pieces I have into something else.
Love this upload! I have a huge pile of DIY fixer pieces and you've inspired me to spend my Sunday creating and appreciating all the great clothes I've got that are just not quite right. Thanks Becky 🥰👏👏👏
I do a lot of sewing and altering and when it comes to pants I will run elastic through the waistband which is so so much easier. No seam ripping and matching up seams.
Last year I kon-mari-ed my closet (only) and that helped. For the past month in a half, I've gone through my closet, and put the laundry (clean) aside. I haven't worn anything twice and it has helped weed out the more difficult pieces that managed to hang on from previous purges. Some will be donated and some will be DIY-ed. One of my jeans shrunk, so I'm on the hunt for a way to expand the size of the hips.
Love the jacket. I had a dark rust colored one in the 1970's very similar. I just loved it with jeans. The off center star made even more chic. Great diy.
Yeah if the moon were close enough to make an impact on a broom then we'd have way bigger problems like being underwater and the giant rock in the sky hurtling towards us😂
Becky those jeans are made for you! The new fit is so good! They look great on you and you can’t beat the price! I’m intimidated by sewing pants too, so I’m extra impressed. Great job on both diys!
Water can stain leather (especially suede for sure!), and rubbing alcohol can make it dry and ruin it. The easiest answer for cleaning leather is face cleansing milk. I use it regularly on my bags and they look clean and nourished afterwards. The other good alternative is trichloroethane (which is used in dry cleaning) but it's toxic.
metroteacher I live in Italy and it's quite common, it's less thick than cold cream, it's not used as much as micellar water or make up remover nowadays probably but you can still find it in stores.
metroteacher It’s a very gentle, non foaming form of face cleanser and rather than clear and gel like, it looks like...runny yoghurt, really. Lol. But ‚face cleaning yoghurt‘ sounds even more odd, than ‚face cleansing milk‘. You should be able to get it in any random drugstore, really. I like using it, because it doesn’t dry out the skin and especially doesn’t irritate my very sensitive eyes. I‘m allergic to a very common foaming agent, so most wash type products won’t work for me. Wouldn’t be surprised, if it works well on leather (since that’s basically skin, after all), although there are easily available products for that purpose as well.
RIIIGHT?! I LOVE that you've taken over your guest room for your "closet room"...I've done the same thing! It's awesome! Got my iron in there, all my shoes, well most of my shoes, hanging racks, oh, I just love it. Love yours!
Becky did a perfect job on her denim alteration. It's not easy and she killed it! I just felt like something was off about how the jeans fit in the front. Am I too old to get it? The jacket upcycle turned out amazingly well. Adding the star patch made the slightly brighter white fringe detail look really intentional and balanced.
I love you guys 💜 y'all are so motivating and inspirational in a few different ways. Thank you girls! I wish you two, and all of your guests, all of the happiness 💜
Love that you’re doing up cycling clothes projects. I’ve been into doing that lately. Thank you for doing the jeans project!! That’s one of the things that I have on my list to do. Which needle size did you use for it??
Love you to death gurl - BUT - The definition of ruler is: a straight strip or cylinder of plastic, wood, metal, or other rigid material, typically marked at regular intervals, to draw straight lines or measure distances. Measuring tape: a long, thin piece of plastic, cloth, or metal that is marked with units of length (such as inches or centimeters) and that is used for measuring things
The broom thing has been a joke on the internet forever haha, my friend and her roommates have had theirs standing for several weeks and they’re just trying to see how long it’ll stay up
When adding darts to jeans you can actually seam rip part of the waistband off, sew the darts, trim the waistband and re-sew it. It's a bit more work, but gives a more finished look. If you put the new seam under the center belt loop, it's basically invisible. AND, if you don't want to buy thread or can't find matching thread, you can use the existing thread from the jeans! They're usually sewn with chain stitches so it's easy to pull out and becomes about 3 times the length when pulled out. I learned this from a video a few years ago, and it really helped me! 😄
OMG clothing fashion thrift flips YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Thank you. I have a very similar jacket to this in black from the 1980's. Nice work love it.
Love the fringe jacket! I love that you went for the big fringe to make an even bolder statement! They look like wings! You were like...I'm here to be noticed MMKAYYY
Both upcycles came out great, I had a gorgeous pleather jacket, sadly being pleather it disintegtrated eventually so I had to throw it away, but I used to feel so chic wearing it. I think I'll look out for a replacement now :-D
I honestly was worried about the star patch going over the stain and how it might just look weird but it looked surprisingly good! You’re so good at this stuff. Love your diys
Really enjoyed this! Well done on both DIY’s 👏🏼 for the stitch on the star, you could’ve maybe first done a top stitch on the star alone and then glue it on, just to give it that look 💕
That star looks way nicer than i thought it would! And the jaket looks pretty cool after it was redone. I did see similar jackets in Zara today but I dont feel like spending too much money on one so I might just do what u did and glue some fringe
If the jeans are just like 2 sizes too big, make 2 1cm slits at the front (one at the right side of the fly and one at the left, make them around 2cm from it), and pass an elastic through it. It looks really good, and if they are too oversized, it looked paper bag style.
Fun fact: the tradition of yellow thread was started by Levi Strauss who used linen thread (which was commonly dyed yellow in the 1850s) because it was stronger than cotton thread 😊
Susanne M that is a fun fact. Thanks !
Oh neat, I never knew that!
Oh, very cool!
O wow That's really interesting
Honestly, jeans have so much interestung history surrounding their construction and use. It's kind of amazing
17:17 : The jacket became blue because of the blue cloth you used to clean the original stain. You can see the blue tint very well at 14:42 . Make sure you use a white cloth when cleaning stains on fabric, otherwise the dye can run on the item.
I was going to say that too. I was cringing when I saw it wasn't a white washcloth.
Also dabbing at a stain works so much better than vigorously rubbing!
all very true and useful observations!
maybe a little homework to learn about proper stain removal would be in order for her...
"Not-nice-shirt-drawer-slash-use-for-sleeping-or-dirty-jobs-around-the-house" drawer. Yes, I have one.
One, you say...
N. Tali #sorelatable !!!
Same 🙋🏻♀️
I thought the patch was really cool and made the colour of the fringe tie in better with the rest of the jacket
Upcycling clothes deserves more credit! It’s fun to do and you end up with something new to love! We love!
Yesss! It also flexes those creative muscles!
Have you tried a Mr Clean Eraser
That star patch idea is great! I’ve often had clothes with a stain or rip in a weird place that a patch wouldn’t work, but making it bigger make it look intentional. Thanks.

I miss their vlogs too.
This was literally the best "down-sizing" jeans diy I've ever seen !! It looked so professionnal and even! Congrats !!!!!
I really like to see only one half of TSG on video, Kelsey with the jewlery video from last week and now yours. I feel like we really see your own personnalities 😊😉

I'm learning french
To think, last year we were complaining that they weren’t doing the intro together and had separate videos 😂

It would be nice if the correction was a little more polite...
Fantastic job on taking in your jeans, Becky! You made the process seem ( or should I say “seam” 😉 😂) less intimidating.
LOL the pun
My “not so nice to wear out turned into sleep shirts” are my boyfriend and I’s old work shirts from Ben and Jerry’s (where we met) and this year I started to turn them into a quilt because some are getting really bad
hanna meier YUP! We worked at one of the scoop shops. We had three near us all owned by one person. Scoop shops are all over but some places the closest one will be hours away.
hanna meier there are b&j scoop shops in Europe too. I know of three here in Denmark😊
My husband and I met at a Baskin Robbins where we worked together. Love hearing other stories of falling in love at an ice cream shop! ♥️
you’re giving me lounge day ashley from best dressed vibes from this outfit
I do not have a "not nice shirt drawer" I have a huge "not nice shirt PROBLEM"
Yess! I love Becky's style and the fact that she's doing fashion related videos is my dream!
That jacket turned out incredible! I have a pile of clothing DIYs too and I think I’ll finally tackle it today.
How did it go?😊
How did it go?😊
“Does it have to be facing the moon?” I LOVE YOU.
I love Becky, she's just so down to earth and relatable.

We have also a word in French, une pince for a dart :)
Becky you look so beautiful with dutch braids and your makeup is so perfect!
Make this a series please ❤️ such great inspiration to up cycle
You should try doing an old tshirt blanket! Would love to see a simple diy to do it yourself!
The broom things work everyday.
Yes!
One of the girls I work with brought this up. Now every shift I'm on with her we do it. This like 2x a week.
Love this upload! I have a huge pile of DIY fixer pieces and you've inspired me to spend my Sunday creating and appreciating all the great clothes I've got that are just not quite right. Thanks Becky 🥰👏👏👏
becky, you totally killed it ❤️ and honestly this jacket with these jeans together will be an awesome outfit 🔥
I love that you separated the star over the zip 😍 I would add a few baby stars around it though so it looks even more intentional
I definitely have one of those drawers. It's the cute paint shirt drawer!
yes yes paint clothes are essential!
Project runway youtube edtion would legit be an awesome show :o Pls make this a giant collab haha
Well done! You’re attention to detail has really paid off. Those jeans are perfection.

The moon's gravitational pull is wayy too small to make any difference on a broom here on earth. Don't let the kids on tik tok fool you lol
Go ahead and try it it works any day and NASA announced that whoever started this whole thing didn't have all the facts.
Yeah if the moon were close enough to make an impact on a broom then we'd have way bigger problems like being underwater and the giant rock in the sky hurtling towards us😂
You did such a great job on both projects. Way to go Becky.
Running the jeans darts into the pockets is genius! I've been trying to figure out how to hide my seam sins and I think this is it.
Becky those jeans are made for you! The new fit is so good! They look great on you and you can’t beat the price! I’m intimidated by sewing pants too, so I’m extra impressed. Great job on both diys!

stella What is face cleaning milk? Never heard of that!
Yiga Lord Banette my parents run a shoe shop for 35 years, picking up some tips was inevitable 😂

And yaaaas to the double dart dad jeans. 😻
omg the jacket! Wouldn't have believed it would turn out so awesome, but lady Becky, you did it! I'm in awe
Yes, to upcycling clothing. Such unique and original style. Reuse, repurpose, and make it fabulous.

Soooo.... if anything you can call a ruler a measuring tape but not the other way around.
Sharon Reifel usually measuring tape is long, whereas ruler is 15-30cm
@@sharonreifel7700 Sounds right, but thinking it's also flexible. Even the metal measuring tapes have some flexibility. Right?
Ok but srsly does it matter in 5 years?
The guy didn’t need to be rude about it, though. Especially when someone is buying something from you!
thank god!! a jean tailoring video i can actually follow!!!! will most definitely be trying this DIY
The broom thing has been a joke on the internet forever haha, my friend and her roommates have had theirs standing for several weeks and they’re just trying to see how long it’ll stay up

The jeans were seriously cool!! I wish I could that!!
The jacket was cool before, but now it's purely awesome. Great job Becky! Thanks for the tutorial on making fringe!
The star on your jacket is amazing!!
Those jeans turned out perfect! They look 👌🏼 wow!
Absolutely LOVE the leather jacket w/ fringe & star!!!
Perfect timing! I was just about to go my closet.
My not nice shirt drawer is my pyjama drawer. I do not own actual PJ's. I just wear not nice t-shirts and joggers.
yessss!
I love the jacket, you really nailed this one!
That blue dye transfer was a real stroke of luck! The jacket looks amazing! As do the jeans! I’m impressed!
And it’s the sleep shirt drawer ;0)
Oh my gosh I love you guys so much! Tuesday is now my favorite weekday.
love the star detail on the jacket!!
Really enjoyed this! Well done on both DIY’s 👏🏼 for the stitch on the star, you could’ve maybe first done a top stitch on the star alone and then glue it on, just to give it that look 💕

Those projects are so cool and you def nailed it!🥳
Very nicely done! Your jeans darts look incredible, and the jacket is perfect. Result!
That’s the most beautiful jacket I’ve ever seen! 😍

Love how the jacket turned out!
The jacket looks incredibleee 😍
Love this! Becky is my fashion icon.
That jacket is really amazing! I’m not a fan of fringe, but that looks great! Also you placed the star perfectly. Looks really good.
"the pajama drawer" Yes, check! I can relate
I'm not into fringe but omfg that jacket is amazing and I want it!
Those jeans turned out so well! I love the idea of using stuff from my closet for DIYs!
That was some great DIYS!! Love the jeans and fringe diy! Becoming inspired to do my own upcycling of my clothes in my closet!
It’s a measuring tape!!!🤣
Omg I love that jacket!!! Super cute.
When you first said you were gonna put a patch on i was sceptical but it looks great!
this is my favorite type of video- great job on both pieces!
Ok, you made jeans altering look really doable! They looks so good! I'm gonna have to alter my too big jeans!!!
