My profile picture is of my father and I in his Pete 352 back around 1988. He taught me how to drive in it when I could reach the pedals! Those old Petes will always have a special place in my heart, and seeing one as well-maintained as this puts a smile on my face. Also, good job keeping the wheelbase reasonable! Stretching them out completely eliminates the main advantage of a cabover.
Back in the day when we hooked up to a trailer we did the walk around, check to see lights were working and tires were good, loved the old cabovers, brings back nice memories. Stay safe my friend.
Skipping a 'tug' test got me to lose a good local job offer on an inspection and road test even though I bent down under the trailer with a flashlight to visually see the kingpin locked AND going only going FIVE mph. over the speed limit on a wide open blvd. that also got me check marked, and thats with 18 years of experience and no preventables, and an otherwise stellar road test. Annoys me to this day..Robert at 67.
You know, I was about to comment about the same thing, didn't know if the tires were flat, lights were out or if some homeless people were sleeping in the trailer or if the doors were even closed,, 🤔 not to mention if it was damaged from a swift driver trying to park in the area
@@Trident750UK It would be nice if they sold the K200 here but less restrictive length regulations here driver preference for conventionals killed the market for cabovers here.
Beautiful pete!.Back in 79 I drove a cabover pete but it was dark brown metallic with 3 different stripes running through it and had the 400 cummins 10 speed.I had a international transtar high 5th wheel plate before that with no air ride the pete was my first air ride what a treat on the back.
Don't use this video for the proper way to hook-up a trailer! No tug test, sight inspection of the 5th wheel lock, and no walk-around inspection of the trailer.
I remember driving my dads cabover for the first time at 19 23 years ago now👴🏼. It was a rainy day and the container truck in front of me went off the road down the embankment my stomach sunk won’t ever forget that feeling.
Every trucker should know when you hook up to a trailer you give it that tug test this guy did not do it luckily the trailer did not fall out even though you hear the kingpin lock on the fifth wheel you still have to give that tug test to be on the safe side even though you've been driving for 50 or 60 years don't make a rookie mistake
Who ever your car driver was should know better, never flash your high beams! Turn you lights down to parking lights, or marker lights. Then back on. 👍👍
Man love the truck my dad back in the 80s drove a cab over pet and that's all she wrote I have loved trucks since then I was a driver for a while had a stroke and had to get out my last truck was a 2019 pet loved it be safe and keep it between the lines and watch for bears
Great rig and content! 🥰 You got several angles and aspects...pretty thorough. Cabovers rule! 🤩 Make the trip and enjoy the ride - the Porter Dude of Ohio! 🇺🇸
COE all we drove in early 1971s on up. Saw the USA threw the windshield of cornbinders, petes, freight shakers,KWs etc. I didn't get to drive a hood until 1996
Assume prefer the old school original 22" white steering wheel with dual Bergstrom defroster fans in middle of windshield, also 3 air brake vales blue, red, yellow take some of these newbies they see that and they be stumped as to why the driving school didn't explain that set up.
@Anthony Rector yes he does anthony...obviously you've never been in the cab of a late 70's early 80's cabover..they were set up like that don't believe us look it up or find 1...and some trucks had 2 sticks..a few had 3 and no power steering
Classic 8 garage you know what your talking about...im only 44 and have been driving for about 21 years but my dad had a international transtar 2 I was a little boy but I remember it (north American vanlines)..you had to be a lumberjack to drive thoes types of tractors..rubberblock/spring suspension 24 inch steering wheel no power steering unless you had some $ single bunk...hell just getting up inside of it was a task..lol but the trips me him and mom took across the country were fun
@@lornperkins4270 Good stuff I remember a local guy from town He owned a Ford 9000 cabover and was leased onto North American Van Lines blue white trailers never forget, are they still around do you Know?
Driver that’s a pretty good looking rig brother iv always loved a flat nose old truck running great I drive international I love it old but love them old ones has the good old Detroit motor you can abuse that motor an it will ask for more not that I abuse it that’s my baby it takes care of me an I take care of her she will run hard all night an want to run more in the morning lol you stay safe out there driver keep the shiny side up an the rubber down
Ya cooler behind ya head is not a good move. After 50yrs an 8 to 10 million miles ive seen odd things happen and some hurt a bit. If you're truck was a white road commode coe that cooler would be weightless because they road so rough if it weren't tarped down it would orbit inside the cab. My brother and I ran double alot and we had to switch to a coe white freightliner road commode as we called it one trip from Winston Salem to New Hampshire unload then to LOS ANGELES and we had to use a big rubber strap just to hold cb on the dash. Everything else we just left in the floor because we knew sooner or later it would be back where it belonged. We had alot of fun back then. My best friend, my brother passed away in 2012 at the Mt Morris P.A. truck stop. I'm retired an Live alone an think of those fun times very often. Travel safe friend.
I am looking for a new career. I want an experienced teacher. Would you take on a retired Master Sergeant as your trainee? Thank you for the consideration.
No pull test after coupling, no walk round check of trailer lights and tyres. You didn't check inside the trailer? Doors could have been insecure or load stolen...
What an awesome Pete! My late father drove one of these all his life. I miss tagging along.

And a tug test
Two flat tires on the right hand side of the trailer and he didn't even notice.
Yes sir. And always a tug test.

Wow I haven’t seen one that beautiful in a long time . Cool to see the cabovers being restored
Beautiful 362. Very classy and classic....and no ridiculous frame stretch. I love it!
Totally agree....great looking truck......!!...those stretched frames look absolutely crap..!!
@@Trident750UK Yes they do but they're all the rage now.
Clayton Brown it’s a real shame you don’t make the cabovers anymore, like they do in Australia.....the Kenworth K200 is a fabulous looking motor..

I remember the one my dad use to drive , I won’t forget and no matter what models.Come out this will always be the best period
The look, the sound & the smell is priceless 👍
Watching this, brought back the days from 1987-1989 I drove for Mickey Gilley He had 2 Pete 362's.
In Houston?

I dont think we were watching the same video...the first two minutes looks like the lens is cracked in two places...Amateurish at best.

He did.I seen it.
That is one gorgeous rig! Awesome video!
I recently met a driver who thought his cabover
truck was ugly. I then asked if I could have
permission to film his ugly truck, he smiled.
HOOKED UP TO HIS TRAILER AND DIDNT KICK HIS TIRES, BAD BOY.
Beautiful truck brother and sister! Now change the Flag asap! HOOAH!!!
Cool video!Dont see many cabovers working mostly just show. First truck was a 69 Pete 362
such a cool truck! love 362's (I have 2) And the Detroit is a great engine, keep er' running top notch
That's one sweeeeeeet Pete. My grandfather had a late 80's Pete cab over for a while. Great video
Can the Music, love the Pete !!!,!,

My favorite is the GMC Astro! All Glass!
Thanks for filming this.

Love the doghouse. You can put all your stuff on it. Used to have one in my old JB hunt truck.
Love the cab over my friend. They r my favourite type of rigs
That's a pretty baby there,it brings back memories!!!!!
What's with all the drum music? Can't hear the truck for that ridiculous music
Beautiful Peterbilt cab over.
Got to love those 362 n 352 Pete cabovers
whats up with the messed up camera lens?
Her camera lens is cracked in about 3 places. Didn't someone notice that?..beautiful petercar. Like that kitty cat

Didn't do an inspection when he hooked up trailer cranked up dollies and up his gloves in cab good enough
Classic Like a very powerful truck.
The music was very much needed
Nice to see a cabover out on the road in the us
Cab over trucks are so cool.
This is really nice! Standing tall on those 24.5's and that series 60 Detroit sounds strong and healthy!!💪😍👍
Wished they can come back... great super reliable trucks with the best engines ever!!💯👍🏼💯

Nice truck!!
Klass video myzika 2021 🇺🇦👍😎

Absolutely beautiful truck. But Thats a 362S86. It has triple windshield wipers and circle turn signals. The normal 362 never had this.

That Detroit is puuuurrrrring
I would definitely get that camera lense cleaned or fixed
Sexy truck, it’s just a 379 but without the nose
Nice truck
Hate those crappy plastic air lines. Have rubber ones on mine. Love the old COE’s. Used to see a lot of them back in the day.
The camera lens must've had water or dirt on it. So annoying
Nice truck.
Why not some cowbell as well geez.. Really
No 4ways on while backing and hooking up
But still great video brother be safe out there.
That old truck runs better than your new truck.
What’s the engine in this, it sounds great! “Cabover Pete with a Reefer on!”
That's real trucking!!!!!!
No walk around inspection for checking lights flat tires hanging wires nothing like that maybe this driver thinks he knows everything
Everything is top rate, until you drive away and don't at at least bump your tires or check ✔️ out the lights. Oversights cost money 💸💸💸💸💸💰💰💰💰💰💰
Nice...drive safe..

Классный аппарат!

Thee best truck to own while OTR’n
i want one. semi retired wouldnt mind running out my last trips in one with steering air ride of course

The doors were not insecure. They're very confident.
Mike Alberts 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looks like the same pete that pulled for shoprite
I agree
why do they stop making Cab overs in the USA but there very popular in European? i wish they start making them again in the Americas
Nice rig but the repeating drum music really sucks. Also wish he'd take better care of the American Flags on the side of the truck.
