Thank you! ❤️ Could you please build a small structure (say a single car garage with loft above it) from start to finish, AND then show how to use Layout to make a presentable blueprint? Thank you
Thanks Aaron, I watched you what's new in '22 video so already knew about this tool but tagged along for this one and it helped to reinforce what you'd said about the tool before.
I’ve been finding the Tag tool seems to be redundant to the Outliner. When I build objects I name them and put them into a hierarchy in the Outliner. That way I can hide/show all walls or furniture etc in one click. It seems that Tags are redundant to that. I know you have stated that the Tag method is the proper method to use and I do try to tag everything, but in the end I just use the Outliner. I’m obviously missing the added benefits that tags offer. I’m not arguing for the outliner, I’m just like to know what I’m missing regarding using tags.
So this replaces the old layers function right? What confuses me here is that outliner has way more functionality than tags or so it appears to me. Why use tags then?
When bringing in CAD drawings, the import includes all the CAD layers. When Sketchup used layers, I could quickly select all CAD layers and put them all on 1 single layer easily. It now looks like this has become much more complicated. I'll be going back to a previous version because of the new tag management system.
Aaron, you are saying at 0:41 that the video applies to 2020 and onwards but earlier on you are saying 2022. Can you have a look? I have 2021 and tags are there in it.
Thank you Aaron, I love your tutorials! Greetings from Costa Rica. I thought we could put more than 1 TAG on an object (or a group). But I fear we are limited to one TAG per item? My goal is for example to be able to call for "CILINDERS" or "BOXES". But also I would like to be able to call objets using as parameters for example the colour, like "GREEN" or "RED". But I cannot find a way to accomplish that. Any help would be very welcome. Thank you. Pura Vida.
Good enough, except that I've now got something I want to untag and I can't find a way to do it. There is no "untagged" category showing. Maybe I wrote over it? Not sure. Need to ad untagging to this or another video.
Hello. I have a question. If I add a group to a new tag, and then explode the group for one reason, the geometry (lines and faces) will stay on the new tag and not on untagged anymore. Is this a bug? Cause this can make a big mess.
Well as always a great tutorial and I will give it a try but in all honesty I cannot see any significant benefit from our current methods of Tag assignments and I bit surprised the development team considered this a productively enhancement for users.. I see it only a potentially confusing duplication of processes...and effort could have be focused better elsewhere.. eg more capable find and replace and auto numbering tools in Layout.. don't get me wrong.. they are great and long missing tools but need the ability to selectively restrict their page or content ranges..
Yo, Aaron, it is cool, and what about geometry in groups/ components. Is the geomerty on tag "untag"? It will be great if we have 1 more shortcut combo + tag tool, to make all geometry inside - to tag. Sorry, i am from Russia, and can make a lot of mistakes in gramma)
A few versions ago Layers were renamed Tags. Functionality, they are the same thing. Many users considered Layers to be misleading, since a 3D model doe not have pieces that lay upon one another as you would see in a graphic editing program. The term Tag made a lot more sense.
Thank you. Your style and speed of teaching works well for me.
Thank you! ❤️

This makes it so much easier to tag, so much quicker love it👌

Awesome Tool, Keep the lessons coming

Trying tag tool for the first time. I notice that “model” is in the drop-down menu in the Entity Info tab. How is that used?

Thanks for this good work, producing this video. Is it possible to show the value for a client at an example?

Every entity has a Tag. If you like, you can tag the entity with the Tag of Untagged.

Hi, can we make couple of objects, similar, and make them same / one component aftewards ?
How to activate tags in this version? I think its so difficult in this sketchup version.

The geometry inside a group would still remain on ‘untagged’
thx a lot
Where exactly is the big difference between Tags and Layers?

Tags and folder tags in this version.
