I love Glennis and I know she's a great singer. I was uncertain about this at first and those deliberate pauses threw me off. But then I took a moment to appreciate both the performance and the fact that she made it her own.

What makes Glennis version amazing is that it's LIVE ...and one take and no safety net. Ofcourse Mariah's original STUDIO version is gorgeous and nothing can top that. But studio and live are two different beasts. Just my two cents !
This is just as good as Mariah in her prime. At their ages today there is no comparison. Mariah and Whitney both by age 40 couldnt approach the quality and power that Glennis has. She is a world class talent and she really has no equal right now.

Glennis can pull performances like this off because she's got enough time between performances to rest her voice. The Vocal Trinity: Whitney, Mariah and Celine did far more concerts and other professional work without enough resting time. Glennis would be out of voice in no time if she did as much as The Vocal Trinity in the same amount of time!
This is an awesome version but what makes this song good is the emotion and the sudden high belts. Glennis was missing both but I love that there’s a live version. Mariah definitely missed out with this song. It should be her most well known Christmas song.
