13:35 I think you undersold just how awful this moment was. Like Harley's speech before killing Batman makes absolutely no sense when this is the Arkham version of Harley, who is one of the most evil interpretations of Harley out there in mainstream media. And her speech before killing Batman blames him for inflicting "emotional damage" despite the fact that she was the one who fell for Joker's manipulations in one night and then continued to carry Joker's horrfic deeds during his life and after his death. Remember Arkham Harley was fully complicit in the death of the theme park owner and his daughter in the Batgirl DLC in Arkham Knight, she didn't raise a finger when Joker stiched kids togther, tortured Jason Todd etc. Instead, they ignore all of Arkham Harley's personality and just put in the most bland mainstream interpretation of Harley possible. Arkham verse Harley would've never gotten over Joker entirely off screen and would've had a much more emotional reaction to the Elseworld Joker in season 1 rather than just going "I got over clowns now". So it's not only a terrible ending for Arkham Batman as it completely ruins the ending of Arkham Knight. It also destroys the characterisation of Arkham Harley in the process. Edit: 14:07 It's hilarious seeing this now that the game has officially wrapped up with that wet fart of an ending. They didn't even kill the real Justice League, just a bunch of clones made because Supeman had plot induced stupidty by approaching Brainiac with no backup plan and the entire league was captured for it. You have Deathstroke (the guy who got his ass one shot by Batman in Arkham Knight) soloing 2 entire Brainiac off screen but the Justice League couldn't even handle one. What a horrendous portrayal of the JL by making them overly incompetent. Its even funnier when the only Justice league character treated with any respect in this plot (Wonder Woman) was the only non cloned character and now she's just dead. She died trying to get through to a mindless clone of Superman, what a way to rob her death of any emotional stakes when her heart felt final words, apologising about not being able to save Superman was said to a mindless clone. Same with Tim Drake who's also just dead. Hopefully they retcon this game into being non-canon soon. Arkham Shadow has shown that genuinely great Arkham games can still be made but SSKJL is a dead end.
This is what gets me more then the shooting of batman. This Harley is a terrible person and yet, she claims moral superiority?! It's terrible writing imo
Do you… do you not think that’s the idea? It’s Harley Quinn, why WOULDNT she think that she’s the good person in this scenario and Batman was worse than she was?
@rockycuro7737 2 reasons. 1 the rest of the game also doesn't match with her personality in the rest of the Arkham series and 2 the death scenes from Arkham Knight already show how Harley would react should she have killed Batman. She's ecstatic about killing Batman in one death scene and avenging Mr J and in the other she's appears to be absolutely terrified having no clue what to do after avenging Mr J. This should've been how Harley kills Batman, she's initially ecstatic about it but later has absolutely no idea what to make of herself now, only working with the suicide squad as its the one thing giving her some sort of purpose. She wouldn't go in this direction with an almost sullen scene where she complains about Batman causing her "emotional damage." Even if you don't agree with this direction. Having all of Arkham Harley's development happen off screen is terrible writing either way.
@ Ngl dude, I played the game. Her personality doesn’t match the rest of the games because this is years and years after joker has passed away. She’s got her own gang now that isn’t just jokers hand me downs and she clearly has a sort of lid on her troops unlike Arkham knight. This also explains away how she’d react after killing Batman. She’s still not completely over jokers death but she’s not as obsessed with him as she once was. Not to mention the team she has with her that yknow, can actually help her and they all have a clear goal after Batman dies. In Arkham knight she has no team and it’s too recent from jokers death, ssktjl takes place long after he passed and she has a team with a clear goal of what to do after Batman and all the “heroes” are dead. Even with all that out of the way, still doesn’t disprove my point that Harley would obviously see herself as in the right here since yknow. SHE HATES BATMAN
@rockycuro7737 Her getting over Mr J's death is entirely the problem. Arkham Verse Harley is a psychopath who would've absolutely focused on taking down Batman no matter the odds after Joker dies. She's single-minded in her approach, and she wouldn't have gotten over it in 5 years off screen with absolutely no explanation. Also I don't disagree with the concept of the scene itself. I disagree with how it's presented (trying to make us think that Batman is in the wrong instead of showing how Harley hates Batman and she thinks she's in the right) and Arkham Harley taking a sullen approach instead of being ecstatic or incredibly emotional about having a chance to avenge Joker. There's also other personality traits Harley has in SSKJL that doesn't match with her presentation in the rest of the series. Such as her relationship with poison Ivy despite how that never happened in the Arkham verse and they only interacted like twice in the entire saga.
Hi Alex, just an FYI. Pie is from the same team that made Honey, the huge scam that's just been uncovered. It's a mess, every youtuber that promoted Honey regret it now.
Fum is actively capitalizing in children with vaping addictions and creating a habbit for children who are easily influenced and want to look cool 🤷♂️
Rocksteady is in a similar situation as Bioware and Obsidian. They will say "FROM THE STUDIO THAT BROUGHT YOU THOSE GAMES YOU LIKED FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD!" But the problem is that literally none of the people that worked on those games from your childhood are currently working at those studios. People need to learn to just let go and move on.
I agree with everything but the last sentence. Telling people to ‘move on’ from IP they love is ridiculous and only harms the industry moving forward. Instead the company should retire the IP for some time or let more competent people make it
Just like the Sonic Forces situation. "From the people that brought you Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations"... Even though most of the people that did were laid off, fired, or left for Nintendo.
@@Yourfat247 If the core fanbase moves on from the franchise, none of the future games will sell well. That, in turn, would either force the company to retire the IP or rethink its whole process. What's worse than getting negative attention is being forgotten.
Obsidian still has their core, tho. Their most recent game (Pentiment) is an award-winning RPG idealized by the guys who were there since Obsidian was Black Isle Studios
I feel like Gotham Knights and SSKTJL should’ve switched places continuity wise, it just would’ve made more sense for Gotham Knights to take place In the Arkhamverse after the events of Arkham Knight and had SSKTJL be handled by another gaming company
Why do people keep associating brainrot and poor attention spans with us? That's gen alpha's deal. Most of us are adults already and haven't had our early development butchered by short-form media like the kids nowadays.
It's kinda strange that Gotham Knights is considered the better game now when the narrative was "Gotham Knights sucks, but that new Suicide Squad game looks pretty cool."
How to tell the devs didn't read a single comic book or look into the most basic freaking lore of the characters... -They take Green Lantern's ring after he dies just to screw around with it. When a Lantern dies, their ring detaches from them and departs to Oa so they can find it a new host. That or the original host has to bestow the ring upon someone they believe worthy, like Abin-Sur did with Hal Jordan. -Wonder Woman's lasso FORCES anyone wrapped in it to tell the truth, to the point they can't even stay quiet when asked a question. After just TWO questions, Captain Boomerang is back to telling flat-out lies...despite the fact that he was still wrapped up in it.
He also returned for Multiversus, for some extra voice lines as far as I know. So Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League wasn't his last time as Batman.
@@natagu5794 True, but here's the catch. Of the episodes made so far, all of them were in production since the game was being developed. As internal code leaks showed. This last episode is likely where the team rescues batman. And it's likely they had lines recorded for him. If that happens, then Suicide Squad, technically, becomes Kevin's final appearance. At least release wise. Production wise, it was crisis 3.
@@natagu5794 its the last of the Arkham Batman, one that people played as which made it more personal then someone we watched as a kid, You were that Batman and they just don't care.
It's also very important to understand that the same people who made the Arkham trilogy WERE NOT the same people who worked on SSKTJL. This game had very little to do with the people who worked on the Arkham games.
Yeah but the story was written by sefton hill and he was the one who made all those poor decisions Like killing batman(clone) Even some rocksteady employee's question why captain boomerang should use guns but yeah he made those decisions and when he realized the game will flop he just quit in the end of 2022 Warner bros also are the ones to blame but sefton hill should be blame more The developers were doing what they told to do.
Also you didn’t include the cultural issues the game had with Harley Quinn’s character. She went from Being obsessed with the joker to acting like she had always hated the joker. Her character got butchered. And dead shot and boomerang were very annoying through out the whole game. Shark was the only one who was bearable and it’s only because his voice actor did well.
@ it’s lazy writing. Honestly I could write a better suicide squad story with my eyes shut. Legit you could’ve just inserted a different black character and then introduced a different dead shot from a different multiverse later on. Or hell just make a skin where he’s black. Honestly the story is bad, the characters are annoying, the gameplay is subpar in general but it’s horrible for rocksteady. This is what happens when you let political journalists make your game.
All the beloved male characters are humiliated before (and after) they die but when it comes time to put down Wonder Woman everyone is sad and it’s treated as this sacred moment. I can smell the SBI coming off of The Flash’s corpse. Harley went from a psycho Joker ally to a girl boss with “emotional damage” from Batman who is totally justified in killing the guy we all know and love.
I’m so tired of people trying to make Harley Quinn misunderstood and turn her into some kind of antihero. In some cases, she’s equally as fucked up as the Joker is. Harley is a twisted VILLAIN and should be treated as such.
@ I think the writers don’t realize the nuance of her character. She’s supposed to be with the joker because it shows the relationship between an abuser and the abused. It shows how the abused will manipulate the abused to the point where it’s pretty much Stockholm syndrome. But how they are writing her now is that she’s never liked or loved joker. Which isn’t the case. Honestly she shouldn’t be a main character type person. Some characters should be reserved for side characters. She was done the best in the Batman the animated tv show.
Gotta love seeing a game go from $70 to $3.49 and deluxe $100 to $4.99 the things those companies do to make money and then fail at it before sticking to what they know works but in like u have to take a gamble.
After what I’ve seen over the past few years from Marvel’s Avengers to Suicide Squad to Concord, These company’s need to stop doing Live Service games. Live Service games can do well if they are complete experiences like Destiny but if they are half baked corporately designed slop then they are going to fail and have the plug pulled. We need more single player/co-op story games instead of making everything into a live service because Fortnite are raking it in with Battlepasses and emotes. There’s a reason the Arkham games are so well loved decades after their releases, they were passionate about the game and the story. They didn’t have to hold things back for post launch season content or sell suits. The games industry needs to do better.
I'm old enough to remember that Destiny wasn't a full game when it first released and people trashed it for that reason. They even had to redo a characters voice work because the audience was so vocal about how much they disliked it. It just happened to be early in the live service days and the people behind Halo were doing it so people had grace to give and it was able to survive. That wouldn't be the case if it released these days.
Marvel Rivals is actually really fun and as of right now they’re pretty chill with the battle pass with it being only 5$. With that being said, I’d still prefer it if progression and unlocking stuff came with the game for free but because the game is free I understand why they did it.
@@decayedtooth2564the game would be 50 if that was the case (I’m confident they aren’t money hungry to go for the 70 at launch) but it’s free so give them some leeway
The thing is that live service games are not inherently bad ideas (they’re incredible ideas if done right). It’s just that studios see them as a way to keep making money instead of a way to actually keep people invested.
@@theparrishshow9803 Exactly. I was the most pissed at Avengers as a Marvel fan because it's what people had been looking for. Live Service genuinely makes sense for a team like that. But everything was written in the starts with the beginning story being mid obviously b/c they prioritized the live service part past the first story. Like why would there be an avengers game with so few notable Avengers vilains and instead you only fight AIM bots with the occasional villain fight. And they didn't even deliver on their live service, providing poor level design, re-used assets, repetitive gameplay, endless grind for loot that will bump up one stat by 1, and terrible microtransactions. It didn't feel like an Avengers game at all, just a Marvel skin for a shitty looter shooter.
As far i remember, Rocksteady want to make Superman game but WB say no. So they make SS:KJL instead. There is even leak footage for Rocksteady Superman game. Source : th-cam.com/video/6xUsEVXkQzo/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUYcm9ja3N0ZWFkeSBzdXBlcm1hbiBnYW1l They just make Rocksteady as black sheep. WB doing this so only rocksteady stockmarket dropping and not WB. There is no final fantasy character in Kingdom hearts 3 sure is Square enix decision and not disney. There is no x-men in MvC infinite sure is Capcom doing and not disney. Guess what, disney definitely doing this in order to destroy FOX (X-men owner) market price so they can buy it.
This happens a lot, people blaming publishers for decisions the studio makes. Remember Babylon's Fall? Everybody yelled at Square Enix while the game was what Platinum wanted to do.
From what I seen it was Warner bros who pitched the idea of the game being a live service to rocksteady and staff were super concerned with the idea based on rocksteady’s lack of experience with the live service model Although it’s all kinda up in the air based on how secretive everything is about the games development, so the Forbes article could be right
@@JDelwynnpublishers interfering with game development already happened too many times, in fact it's the norm since time immemorial, I don't see how Babylons fall is gonna make me think twice.
It was basically confirmed that Batman would return on December 13th. A calendar had the bat symbol on this date, and secret code spelled out “HE WILL RETURN.” It’s now been a week since then and we have heard nothing. This is the one thing I trusted Rocksteady to do right and they couldn’t even do that.
It's hilarious that the game got so much hate for killing Batman and that hate crippled the game so bad that they didn't finish the story so they never got to do their bait and switch to bring him back
I remember that state of play😂. As soon as the gameplay started the chat was full of the same comments from thousands of people “ looks like Marvel’s Avengers” it got so bad they had to shut off the comments about 2 minutes into the presentation 😂.
The crazy part of the whole SSkillJL is how : >They made all the characters THE SAME in abilities (dash 2 dashes ability 1 ability 2) with all using the same weapons instead of using them own original powers or weapons > They could just make Justice League Rocksteady kinda like Avengers service Game (less hate) > They could made a (rumour) Damian Wayne game with the nemesis system 😂
I guess the point of doing a SS game and not a JL game was precisely that they could make all the characters play kinda the same, so they wouldn't need to come up with several different gameplay styles that need to function together. Of course I want a JL game, but imagine the nightmare of designing a speedster, a flying indestructible god-man, a warrior goddess, someone who can create things from pure light and a "regular" human that can somehow keep up with all of this. It's waaaay easier to pick a bunch of nobodies who can just go pew pew pew and call it a day. Even the Arkham games doesn't feature playable characters that are too wildly different from Batman's playstyle, they just have added flavor. However, with 8 years of development time, maybe they could have fine tunned a JL game if they tried.
@@Fahel14 man they did in this Game and they suck, the Justice League IS weak to BULLETS and almost all can evade or take BULLETS In fact like i say they could made a Justice League against Brainiac with nerfed heros
My biggest problem with Suicide Squad was that the hero deaths were lame. Just shooting everyone until they stopped moving, like surely you could think of a slightly more creative solution
remember one thing - it was WB decision to push for not only suicide squad game itself, but the monetary grindfest of a "game", giving us what "we should like" instead of "would love".
For real. No idea where he got that from because I only ever heard awful things about the story. It was the typical "Make the heroes evil. Make Superman evil." garbage we always got. This was literally just discount Injustice. Only a very small minority of people actually likes the SS more than characters like Batman.
Is it possible for a company to uncanon their game despite announcing their game canon previously? Because that’s what I’ve been really wanting for this game.
Of course it would be possible, the things they say are canon are what count as canon. The problem is, decanonising this would mean admitting failure. How often do you see a studio do that...?
Ironic that a game involving a group called Suicide Squad as the lead commits well the group name minus Squad and instead of killing the Justice League they well they did kill but not the Justice League instead of killing their own game
@ he was the main writer who left only a year before the game released, look it up. I find it sad that you happily flaunt your ignorance like you actually have some semblance of what happened.
17:29 yeah if that isn't also a metaphor for rocksteady being on their deathbed and us watching in tears remembering how great they used to be... I don't know what is.
So they brought back Arkham Batman after he had his story concluded, had him kill the bat family off screen, then introduced Arkham Superman and justice leauge, only to have them all be brainwashed and then finally they had us fight mind-controlled Arkham Batman in a shit bossfight only for him to die like a bitch. And this is why ladies, gentlemen why some things DO NOT need a sequel.
I see it in a much simpler way. Rocksteady tried to take down the bat and humiliate him, just like scarecrow did. As usual, the batman exposed and took down rocksteady.
You’re telling me, the same Batman who did ALL of that shit over the course of 4 (now 5 games with Arkham Shadow) is beaten by Harley Quinn and fucking CAPTAIN BOOMERANG. This is not the same Batman from the Arkham games.
Im from germany and recently started watching your Videos and i have to say that i enjoy them a lot. So thank you for making These Videos. I think especially the way they you cut is what makes them funny.
First of all, there's no Rocksteady in Rocksteady, like there's no Obsidian in Obsidian anymore - all original creators and developers left the studios long ago. Now we can only watch mediocre activists trying to enforce some agenda that no-one is interested with, nor no-one cares about - literally nobody supports it apart from devs themselves or some sweet consultants. It's sad to watch the great successes of the old devs (successes that made huge profit and made those companies their name) being thrown into a trash bin with mentality "we can do better than them"
I find it crazy how badly the game misunderstands basic DC Comics lore. The Flash can't be mind controlled since he is capable of thinking at the speed of light, and his healing factor can't regenerate severed limbs. I know that for the last one, the Flash is overpowered, but still. With Green Lantern, his ring essentially opperates on a battery. In the event a Green Lantern runs amok, their ring is revoked and given to someone else who is deemed worthy. With King Shark, he isn’t able to use it since he is a villain and is pure instinct alongside the fact that the ring is transferred to someone else in the event a Lantern dies. Wonder Woman should be the first to kill when things go south and is a magic being, which is one of Superman's weaknesses. When she had Captain Boomerang ensnared in the Lasso of Truth, he lied. Even though whoever is caught in it can't lie. Gold Kryptonite is supposed to strip Kryptonians of their powers and can't pass down their powers to their offspring. Superman and Braniac not having any previous history is dumb, as he should be on high alert at the mere mention of the villain, and Braniac is a data monger who wants to keep his data to himself and destroy the source to keep it valuable. To him, anything related to Krypton must be deleted.
Another odd example of this game's story not working in line with the other Arkham games is it's version of Deadshot. As the writers, instead of doing something as simple as "here is the next person to take up the mantle", went out their way to explain that the squad's version of the character was the real original Deadshot and the version we encountered multiple times in the other games and operating in the role for over a decade in universe wasn't the real Deadshot but one from an alternative universe. Which just comes across as silly, needlessly complicated and makes you wonder, why didn't they (both WB and Rocksteady) just use Bloodspot instead in order to take advantage of the film that was coming out around original release date?
I knew the game was gonna suck the moment I saw the redesign for Harley. Nothing good has ever been associated with Harley’s pastel goth design. Even The Suicide Squad muted her colors to help her fade into the background. And as time went on, I was just proven more and more correct.
I blame Suicide Squad 2016 (and to a extent, the DCEU) because not only it likely contributed to WB desperately pushing for more SS media and forced Rocksteady to make this disaster nobody wanted, but also completely changed the direction of Harley Quinn’s characterization, for the better or worse. At first, this new change in character works pretty well but over-time, it has became the most oversaturated trend in DC history. It doesn’t help that Rocksteady doesn’t even know how it works, resulting in the worst & unfaithful depiction of Harley Quinn from this game. Basically, she’s the Wolverine (who also has a reputation of being overexposed) of DC but worse. Now, the many more problems of SS:KTJL is that it’s essentially an _even worse_ version of the aforementioned 2016 film; it’s a cliched anti-hero adaptation revolving around a group of A-C listers & badass normals, who are forced to take on and somehow supposed to be a match against a worldwide-threat level who clearly wants to take over the world. Besides converting Harley’s characterization into her adult-animated TV show personality for some reason, Rocksteady (forced by WB) made their version of Deadshot black while making an excuse that the white Deadshot (from the previous games) was from an alternate dimension. They obviously did this to dedicate to Will Smith’s Deadshot, even though it wouldn’t age well since over a year after the teaser’s release, Smith himself damaged his own image by slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Aside that, 2016 depiction of Deadshot was awful since he lost his unique traits in-favor of changing him into a generic heroic hitman who plays too similar to Smith’s previous roles. Plus, I gonna say it, his performance was REALLY *MID.* I’m just saying. Bloodsport from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (an *actual adaptation* of SS) felt like the _real_ black Deadshot we all wanted to see in live-action. Unfortunately, WB didn’t learn their lesson after race-lifting Deadshot again. Numerous plot-holes were introduced for having him being a "separate character" to the other one. Not only they altered _even more_ of his traits from the comics, they also turned him into a black caricature by giving him HARD African-American gangster personality. At best, he’s a in-name only. Like the 2016 film, SS:KTJL lacks character development and most characters feel one dimensional or even worse, *caricatures.* One of the worst examples is when Captain Boomerang _tries_ to urinate on the Flash’s corpse to show that he still hates him (keep in mind the squad continues their satisfaction on killing the Justice League with no signs of regret). Ironically, the Flash is the only leaguer (besides Wonder Woman) who isn’t disrespected by the rest of the squad despite them still showing scorn towards their other rivals (yes, he saved them from earlier when he wasn’t captured but still). King Shark may be the only member of the squad who is _even_ remotely interesting but still has problems, namely his lack of connection to the JL and the fact that he is just a rip-off of MCU's Drax but more sane than the rest of his team. And let's not get into the uncreative DLC characters, ok. Honesty, I don't even know if this was an attempt on "so bad, it's good" because it's clearly not. It seems more like a _brutal_ deconstruction, deliberately insulting the fanbase for suspecting that "Batman wouldn't really take his own life at the end of Knight". Rocksteady possibly even went far by tricking their fans into thinking that Batman would really be killed off until the reveal that the JL were indeed clones. It is further evident by Jamie Walker & Sefton Hill's resignation by the end of 2022, fully knowing they purposely disrespected their fans (and murdered a beloved character) before Todd Phillips did his take for Joker: Folie a Deux. Not to mention, WB forcing them to make sequels in the first place, further giving Rocksteady reasons to give the middle finger to everyone. SS:KTJL had the worst depiction of almost every character (including the SS and JL). The JL themselves reminds me of Joss Whedon's JL. The entire game reminds me of CoD:MWIII (2023) for its terrible story & writing, plot holes, bad characterization, repetitive missions, catering to the lowest common denominator, unprofessionally chasing trends, and an unsatisfying ending, plus having one of the worst character deaths in video game history (I may had exaggerated alot but who cares). The game tried to be like the MCU without doing any research. This is the exact reason why the DCEU ruined everything. WB can rot in hell along with Sony, Disney, Ubisoft, and IGN. My next fear that they are going to ruin Minecraft with that _soon-to-be_ godawful movie similar to Borderlands, only a few months after Sonic 3 just broke the “video game movie curse”. Whoever leading WB needs to be sent into the Arkham Aslume.
"it’s essentially an even worse version of the aforementioned 2016 film; it’s a cliched anti-hero adaptation revolving around a group of A-C listers & badass normals, who are forced to take on and somehow supposed to be a match against a worldwide-threat level who clearly wants to take over the world." Exactly. In the comics the entire point of the Suicide Squad is that they're a black-ops team that carry out the US government's dirty work. If they get caught the government has plausible deniability since they're known criminals. They are NOT meant to fight world-level threats. It's baffling how WB got it so completely wrong.
@@Wright805 Reminds me of the forgotten anime that came out in the summer of 2024? Where for some reason Waller wanted to do some other worlds crap and making the Suicide Squad to do it and get some stuff. This is supposed to be a black ops unit I remind you and I think the closest one to do it is The Suicide Squad (2021).
Plot Armor the video game! Have these mortal people take on superhumans that can rip out their hearts easily, but somehow don’t, and Deadshot missing shots XD I remember part of the game, Flash wasn’t taken over, and he could’ve been a possible aid to taking down the Justice League. A Justice League member with knowledge of the other members, and faster than Sonic, it could’ve given the Suicide Squad a more sensible hand to “kill” the Justice League instead of shoot many bullets into glowing thing many times. What I was more annoyed about is the excuse of bringing in the multiverse trope. It only adds more confusion.
the video focus in production issues and bad decisions , but do not mention "politics" one single time, which being fair is one of the main reasons why most people did not want the game. also that the game was mediocre did not help.
@@PigGuy2301 Yep, it lives rent free in their heads. There's like, almost nothing in the game that's even "political" by their definition, by the way. Hours of listening to idle trooper dialogue (which is most of what SBI is credited for) and I haven't heard anything other than them talking about how great it is to serve Brainiac or something. And I guess there are pride flags in the Hall of Justice (a place which is intentionally designed to be cheesy, twee, and overly cheery with feel-goodsy inspirational stuff on every wall). And Ivy refers to her plant Daphne with they/them pronouns, which... Yeah, it's a giant plant, it's literally packing both bits. But seriously, who even considers that "political" just for existing? Weird.
12:53 “Writing was the strongest aspect and the banter between the squad members being one of the few good things-“ I dunno who said that or why they tried convincing you of that, but they’re wrong. The team is insufferable, and not in the cute endearing kind of way they were trying so hard to achieve. To call the squad’s dialogue wretched would be an understatement, with fan fiction level attempts at trying to be cool and edgy. It comes across as discount Guardians of the Galaxy, complete with Drax stand in King Shark. The story as a whole, meanwhile, is just a mess. Very little of the Arkhamverse lore is integrated properly into the game, and any attempt at doing so only comes across as hollow.
I'd call this game the X-Men The last stand of DC games. The predecessors by the former developers were beloved (Rocksteady's)original team and Batman games gave the audience good faith). And then the hand over the rains over to Brett ratner(a completely new team who didn't work on the Arkham games)..... This doesn't feel like a game made by the previous studio. It feels like most games in 2024 corporate greed turned up to 11.
14:09 That’s one of the biggest issues with this game. Who out there really wants to experience the chance of shooting Superman, Batman, and co dead? At least with something like the Boys they are established more as being reprehensible assholes who just so happen to look like classic heroes. And the Suicide Squad deal with people who just so happen to be more evil than them. Here the League is mind controlled so it’s all good to kill them off I guess. Makes it worse when in the season updates it’s revealed that all the mind controlled Leaguers are just clones and the real Justice League is out there somewhere. So not only they didn’t commit to the premise the only one who’s dead is Wonder Woman… who the Squad didn’t even kill
The only way they can save this is to have Damian Wayne pull off a VR headset and be like “Yup braniac could potentially mess us all up, let’s get the justice league and plan ahead” and it was all a simulation or something like that. I hate that trope but it would literally save the series to call it all just a bad dream
Love all the allusions that don't get an explicit payoff, like the very first beat of the video. Not only do they make me feel smart, but they're done in such a way that they narratively make sense even if I don't get the reference, so I don't feel dumb for not getting something. Very well done!
I love how this game in like day 1 seems to have made everyone look back on Avengers and Gotham Knights and go “Perhaps I treated you too harshly”, like I don’t think anyone decided they were now good but at least they didn’t pull some of the crap this game did
To this day, the best game featuring the “self game over” Squad is the “Dead Money” DLC from Fallout New Vegas. That actually incorporated the deadly mission, with a guy that could end you with a button, concept so well.
Let's also remember what contribution Sweet Baby had to the story, where male characters are dragged through the mud, for example the scene with Flash or Batman and in contrast the scene of Wonder Woman's death, for me it's just sad how the last game with Kevin's voice looks like, because some companies need to push their ideology thinking that there is a mystical group of "gamers" who only care about it (not about gameplay, story) and will buy it because they will feel represented
The dumbest decision they make is putting Mrs. Freeze in game while Killer Frost exist ! And guess what, Killer Frost is OG suicide squad member !
Because it's not about having more female characters. It's about having fewer male character.
Honestly, I'm glad they didn't shove Frost into this game. They would've made her look like a nun covered in ice.
I’m sure “a nun converted in ice” is someone fetish.

@@damienhouse7706 Thank Bat God for that.
Still not his last words because he’s supposed to be rescued at the end of the current season of this game

She wouldn't go in this direction with an almost sullen scene where she complains about Batman causing her "emotional damage."
Even if you don't agree with this direction.

Technically the last time Kevin Conroy portrayed Batman was in the animated crisis on infinite Earths movie (one of them)
Part 3.

Also you didn’t include the cultural issues the game had with Harley Quinn’s character.
She went from
Being obsessed with the joker to acting like she had always hated the joker. Her character got butchered. And dead shot and boomerang were very annoying through out the whole game. Shark was the only one who was bearable and it’s only because his voice actor did well.
Somehow, another universe's Deadshot impersonated not-Will-Smith Deadshot and not even Batman figured it out? Come on man.
8:45 : One small change According to reports from Forbes... it was Rocksteady who pushed for the game to be live service not WB.

From what I seen it was Warner bros who pitched the idea of the game being a live service to rocksteady and staff were super concerned with the idea based on rocksteady’s lack of experience with the live service model
Although it’s all kinda up in the air based on how secretive everything is about the games development, so the Forbes article could be right

The crazy part of the whole SSkillJL is how :
>They made all the characters THE SAME in abilities (dash 2 dashes ability 1 ability 2) with all using the same weapons instead of using them own original powers or weapons
> They could just make Justice League Rocksteady kinda like Avengers service Game (less hate)
> They could made a (rumour) Damian Wayne game with the nemesis system
😂
And most importantly,
> They could have just made it a different universe from Arkhamverse.

It's sad to watch the great successes of the old devs (successes that made huge profit and made those companies their name) being thrown into a trash bin with mentality "we can do better than them"
i love how this dude avoided mentioning Sweet Baby Inc like plage.
Yup
Just for a small perspective: Nexon's The First Descendant, release in July of 2024, did more players than SS: KTJL.
I just noticed Harley's revolver makes a casing ejection sound after shooting Batman
When u don't love ur game, these type of things happens
13:32 what is that sound after the gunshot? Did Harley’s REVOLVER just eject a shell casing?
I knew the game was gonna suck the moment I saw the redesign for Harley. Nothing good has ever been associated with Harley’s pastel goth design. Even The Suicide Squad muted her colors to help her fade into the background.

"it’s essentially an even worse version of the aforementioned 2016 film; it’s a cliched anti-hero adaptation revolving around a group of A-C listers & badass normals, who are forced to take on and somehow supposed to be a match against a worldwide-threat level who clearly wants to take over the world."
Exactly.
Isn't Pie just the new Honey?
After enough pressuring, he finally did it
That PIE endorsement is gonna be problem 😅
Plot Armor the video game! Have these mortal people take on superhumans that can rip out their hearts easily, but somehow don’t, and Deadshot missing shots XD
I remember part of the game, Flash wasn’t taken over, and he could’ve been a possible aid to taking down the Justice League.
Sweet Baby Inc. probably didn't help much either.
the video focus in production issues and bad decisions , but do not mention "politics" one single time, which being fair is one of the main reasons why most people did not want the game. also that the game was mediocre did not help.
@@lol32jnjcaa62 Most people don't care about weird people shoving their anti-woke agenda into their hobby constantly.
You guys are still on this sweet baby stuff?
Weird.
@@lol32jnjcaa62 What politics? What do you even consider objectionable?
12:53 “Writing was the strongest aspect and the banter between the squad members being one of the few good things-“
I dunno who said that or why they tried convincing you of that, but they’re wrong.
Even if the Justice League that was killed just so happens to be clones, this game was disrespectful to Conroy, the franchise, and the fans.
there are no fans just backlash 14:16
>Best games in the superhero genre
Infamous: Am I a joke to you?
Compared to the Batman Arkham games, yes
Alex your style is the best thing on the Internet I swear to god
That sponsor seems shady as shit ngl. I guarantee you they sell their users' data
It’s run by the same guys as honey, so yeah.
this game was doomed from the start, its a game that no one asked for made in a way everyone is tired of.
The only way they can save this is to have Damian Wayne pull off a VR headset and be like “Yup braniac could potentially mess us all up, let’s get the justice league and plan ahead” and it was all a simulation or something like that. I hate that trope but it would literally save the series to call it all just a bad dream
Love the content and have a happy holidays
Love all the allusions that don't get an explicit payoff, like the very first beat of the video. Not only do they make me feel smart, but they're done in such a way that they narratively make sense even if I don't get the reference, so I don't feel dumb for not getting something. Very well done!
Ahem. You forgot Sweet Baby Inc for causing the end of the ArkhamVerse.
Bruh sweet bady inc probably did so little work on game that it impossibal to believe that they ruin the ArkhamVerse
ain't no way a random consulting firm decided to add a live service system to this game
@Free-4554 they meant the writing being bad
@radutaiescu2477
I think he meant the writing team making bad writing choices
Batman was basically the character that mattered in this trainwreck of a game
just so you guys know pie is a scam upper echelon made a vide about it
I certainly hope that in the last season they reveal that it was all an inllusion of the fear toxin and this actually never happened.
BABE, ALEX WEBB UPLOADED!!! ALEX WEBB.. Oh
Goof
The worst part is… it’s not over. There’s still more disaster to come.
This Game could have been amazing if wonder bro just didn’t ruined it!
I admire the amount of production you put into this!
I love how this game in like day 1 seems to have made everyone look back on Avengers and Gotham Knights and go “Perhaps I treated you too harshly”, like I don’t think anyone decided they were now good but at least they didn’t pull some of the crap this game did
"Suicide Squad: Kill Rocksteady"
Hey Webb Pie is evil just so u know
To this day, the best game featuring the “self game over” Squad is the “Dead Money” DLC from Fallout New Vegas. That actually incorporated the deadly mission, with a guy that could end you with a button, concept so well.
Rocksteady really said remember the combat in the Arkham games? Let’s not do that.
We could've had a Red Hood solo game that would've played like max payne and splinter cell set a year after the events of arkham knight....
Nah
They should have stick with the villains being a damned villains.
I’ll never forget that iconic moment of some ordinary gamer lost it over the game crashed
