When I was in mid school, I was in the "gifted" program. Our teacher was a product of affirmative action. She was a terrible teacher and I am pretty sure the students were much smarter than the teacher. The class was a complete waste of time for the kids, but the school got extra funding for the program. That was my first taste of politics, playing favorites and nepotism. Kamala reminds me of that teacher.
The 'gifted' programs may have been the worst thing that happened to my education.
Fortunately my school had a great “gifted” teacher and I learned a lot.

With all the contraceptive options available today, why so many women get pregnant ( more than once in many cases!) and then want free abortion on demand, is beyond me. I'm 89 and lived through all stages of this topic, and it seems to me as if many modern young women regard it as no more than a visit to the dentist. Roe v Wade was not about women’s rights, it was about DOCTOR’S RIGHT to perform abortions.
Even R B Ginsburg stated the previous decision was unconstitutional, creates divisiveness, and should be corrected on the state level, according to the constitution.
“Roe isn’t really about the woman’s choice, is it?” Ginsburg said. “It’s about the doctor’s freedom to practice…it wasn’t woman-centered, it was physician-centered.”
Ginsburg actually didn’t think Roe was the best case for establishing abortion rights. She would have preferred a case she worked on as a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union in the early 1970s.
Ginsburg, who died in 2020, criticized the 7-to-2 decision both before and after she joined the high court. She argued that it would have been better to take a more incremental approach to legalizing abortion, rather than the nationwide ruling in Roe that invalidated dozens of state antiabortion laws. She suggested a ruling protecting abortion rights would have been more durable if it had been based on the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution - in other words, if it had focused on gender equality rather than the right to privacy that the justices highlighted.
“Roe v. Wade, in contrast, invited no dialogue with legislators. Instead, it seemed entirely to remove the ball from the legislators’ court. In 1973, when Roe v. Wade was issued, abortion law was in a state of change across the nation. The SCOTUS decision was a legal one, not a moral one. It was always a state controlled law. My opinion is the fertilzied egg is where life begins. No more pills, or chemicals, or abortions at all. These are children not part of a woman's anatomy, and certainly not a part of her normal function. The woman can nurture a child inside her, but it is not her body, if it was her body and the baby died inside her, the mother would die if left inside her. This proves it is not her body or her choice to murder. The sacred act of procreation needs to be protected from single cell egg to fully born. We have seen in NY how abotion progressed until they are murdering healthy born children. Abomination. America cannot survive as a Country for very long while this horrific act of murder continues. The one thing that never amazes me is how little the American public knows. Lincoln couldn't have ended slavery with the stroke of a pen, it would, at best, have taken a proposed Amendment to the Constitution to abolish it, get passed by the Senate and House, signed by the President, then ratified by 2/3rd's of the States.
The same holds true for abortion. No President can simply abolish abortion by the stroke of a pen, never could.
I shouldn't like to hazard a guess as to what percentage of the U.S. population could name the three branches of government.

The Emancipation Proclamation WAS an executive order. The amendment was a finalization of the process to make it a constitutional amendment and thus part of the highest law of the land but yes, he did end it with a stroke of the pen.

It is truly disgusting that the SCOTUS back in 1973 ruled as it did. Each and every one of them was more than smart enough to know that their ruling was in direct opposition to the constitution, but they chose an agenda over their duty. I am glad the recent court overturned it, but they really should have also called out the previous court.
