This is one the better videos on sidehilling. Your absolutly right! You have to put in some time practicing on some flats or mild sidehills. If your not rolling your machine on it's side once in a while, your not practicing enough. Good job guys!
thanks guys for these videos, great explanation of these things. The guys i ride with all know how to do this but cant explain how or what they are doing and its nice to know the mechanics of this. Keep them coming!
By far the best snowmobiling channel on TH-cam! Keep up the good work boys!
GREAT TIPS, Exactly what I was looking for.
will certainly try to practice this
Thanks for the vids, you guys do a great job.
Great video series...
I was wondering if these techniques would also apply on harder snow, not the deep stuff like in the vids
Thx
Great video, thanks a bunch.
Kill the music when talking. For what the music is worth. The rest is cool.
Great vids, very helpful tips - thanks!
yep you can use this method in hard pack. We do it down in our aussie winter.
Hey SledShot. Whenever i try to counter steer my sled, the sled always go's in the direction my skis are pointed... whats up with that??? Thanks, best sleeding channel on youtube!
Love the Black Label Society rockin in the background!!
Sick flow
@sledshot if i ride a 128 will it work well on carving and if i wanna try some sidehills
Happened to me: Steep downhill grade(ditch) and ended up 8" away from a fence. Couldn`t get it out and ended up hitting the fence post. SledShot, you should put yourself into these types of predicaments and show us novice riders how to countersteer to get out of. Please
I have a 2000 rmk 600 and i still have trouble with this, would it help to get handle bar risers?
Nice FXR Coat!! let it Snow!
Can carving in deep snow like this have any negative effects on your sled? I have just gotten the hang of carving and I really don't want to be working on my sled just to carve like this.
@TeamKawasaki155 SNOW SNOW AND MORE SNOW!
How do you get the counter steer to work in your favor? My sled always wants to go in the direction the skis are pointed
Try using more body weight to lean the sled over initially. Also, it is easier in deeper snow as he mentioned. It depends on the sled but I've learned how to pop the throttle at the same time as I do a hard counter steer to initially get it up on the side. Once there I use a much less counter steer. The other thing not really mentioned here is that once you are up on your side you want to work the throttle (brap brap) in combination with your steering and weight to keep the balance. Definitely takes practice.
I think BoomSlang for tunes of distraction.
What are some tips for people around 120 (that's without heavy cloths) for counter steering and just in general how to shift weight better
I am to light also
Dude i'm 105 and ride mid 90's Yamaha's it is a fucking workout lol
I ride a 94 vmax 600. Lucky I weigh 200 pounds!
1999 Polaris 340 Indy lite touring and I’m 94 pounds lol
Do you run a sway bar
... why does the audio cut out so much????
lost all sound at 2:03
@snowmobiles166 lol i know wat u mean im 16 and its pretty hard 4 me especially becaus my sled is i bit wider than usual
Will theis technique work for older sleds like my 98 RMK 700? I am too old, 64, to do any steep hill and boondocking stuff!
Desperate measures when you DONT drive a skandic super wide track! These tiny tracks just dig a hole in real deep snow off trail!
God, get rid of the music! Hard to learn with all the blaring metal
@sledshot can you give me discount on stuff? lol
The only thing I learned in this is not to buckle my helmet properly. Good call.
I do that ever day
Oh do ya.
This is drifting and NOT counter steering.Counter steering is peculiar to wheels and not skis. Just google gyroscopic precession and motorcycle steering and it will tell you everything you need to know.
So when you turn left but skis going right that's not counter steering
I see what you're getting at but I'm not convinced having watched it again. On the sky it seems that the body weight transfer initiates the ski pointing slightly out. On a bike it's the other way round ie the inside bar I pushed against to initiate the lean into the turn. After that, it's the rear wheel that takes the bike round the turn. Sounds weird I know but that's why you can wheelie & still make the turn. It's a head f**k but it works.
+HORNET6 Look at the bars in the turns. They're turning out of the turn - just like initialising the turn on a bike at speed. Same thing Dude.
HORNET6 No; it's counter steering. I think you'll find just a few people who will argue that point...
I'm a novice but I see skiis and handlebars going slightly right in a left turn. That's what is the definition of counter steering as far as I've learned in this and other tutorials.
This bro is to cool to be real, fake video?
What is counter-steering? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Is this your first time in ANY motorsport? HOLY FAWK
hey guys the music is distracting and unecessary
the guy who isnt talking actually is one who can counter steer this guy doesn't even carve lmao het this guy off youtube waste of time!
+Jon Rudolph hes a great snowmobiler he hust shows beginner a shame they dont upload more :(
+Christian Koller Selland where do they do most of there snowmobiling at?
Dont know
But they ride in the deep and steep ;)
An instructional video with distracting foreground music. It's louder than the guy talking. Thumbs down! Can't even finish this video.
Wow you remind me of Red Greene. get it, You don't have to like repeat yourself 3 or 4 times. Say it once and show them for the rest of the vid. Nice video though and next time drop the goggles, i know its bright but not necessary to impress.
Nice videos. Good to know someone is helping the new people.
