Wait, this actually worked? It worked. Cool.
If you haven't signed up for a Keysight University course, go do it now! Please! That's how we get to keep making videos like this one.
It turns out you can turn just about any watch into an "antistatic" wrist band. More accurately, an anti static wrist strap, or ESD band is a tool for safely discharging electrostatic buildup. It doesn't actually prevent static buildup from happening, it just keeps the discharge current to a safe level.
ESD buildup can destroy your test equipment as well as your boards / devices under test. It's critical to follow proper ESD protocols for your specific situation.
A proper ESD strap should have a 1 MOhm resistance between the strap and ground. It should also have a high resistance outer band and a low resistance inner lining. The high resistance outer prevents accidental discharge from contact with high voltage or mains. The low resistance inner strap gives your skin a good connection to strap, enabling proper electrostatic discharge.
You should also work on a grounded ESD surface, use ESD-safe bags when transporting boards, and keep charged materials at least 0.3 meters away from exposed assemblies.
If you want to learn more about how to protect your test gear from ESD, check out this video:

ESD anklestraps instead of wristsbands work much better, so you have both hands free.
If you had a gold plated Rolex, maybe soldering would have worked.

First of all I am disappointed you did not build a spot welder to attach to attach the ESD strap to the watch. Also IMO it should have been in 27dB more money, unless of course you mean power money or that you spent 5 million dollars on a watch. All jokes aside I love the channel! Really nice you guys put in the effort to provide us with this great content!

Haven't done electronics in a company for 30 years but I used the ankle strap which is much preferred as you walk onto the conductive mat and instantly discharged. Much better than a springy cable that you go to grab something and the cable catches and throws something important onto the ground.

Tips for the snap: you can buy snaps in stores that sell clothing parts and stuff, like buttons, needles and such and you don't need to struggle with the strap or heat up the snap so the plastic can release it more easily. Or try to drill it from the back, I believe the back of the strap is something like a pop rivet, it's spreading out and grabs into another metal piece like a strange flower.
Also, look up silver solder, you might find what you are looking for (I learned about it yesterday on The Craftsman Show here on youtube)

The problem with not wearing ESD straps is that you will get away with it a lot of the time. But not always. And the time when you don't could be the time you're installing a thousand dollar Core I9 processor. The other problem is that ESD doesn't just kill things dead when it happens. When it does at least you know you broke something. But instead it often just degrades the performace of your components. Ever have a PC with "flakey" memory that crashed often and eventually you had to replace the memory? That's the kind of thing caused by not wearing ESD straps when handling components.
