    When in doubt, simply assume that Thrawn knows everything. Of course, you might then be overestimating Thrawn, which can be a hindrance in and of itself. Therefore, Thrawn's intelligence alone causes confusion in his enemies.

    • @slytherpuff1
      @slytherpuff1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I’ve read The Tarkin Book and The Thrawn
      and neither seem to think about each other which I’ve always found
      weird since the three are so close
      to Palpatine. The closest
      we get is Thrawn wants more
      x-wings and thinks it’s a better investment than The Death Star but that’s an economic and military disagreement. There’s no thoughts about the man himself. I actually think if Thrawn beard Tarkins story about passing into man hood on his planet he would at the very least respect him as a fierce warrior, and recognize that he is just as cold and calculating as he is.

    • @Paerigos
      @Paerigos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      well Tarkin book is "old" there was no canon Thrawn when it was written. thus explanaition for you.
      as far as Thrawn book -well most of the time in first one Tarkin is kind of aware of Thrawn - and he seems to particulary like him - a competent military officer who manages to emberass anyone in his way, but politicaly "weak" (with Eli Vanto smoothing stuff for him and saving Thrawn over and over)
      He throws himself in with Pryce not really with Thrawn... and well removes the moff who tries to stonewall Thrawn and gets Eli long overdue promotion...
      I really loved that scene in the book where Eli gets the Lieutenant commander rank from ensing.

    • @slytherpuff1
      @slytherpuff1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Paerigos I forgot the promotion oops. So I guess he is paying attention to Thrawn. SN I hate the “legends “ books that haven’t been contradicted explicitly in Cannon such as Plagueis. They are both really good stories but remain Schrödinger's book. They are both cannon and legend at the same time until the box is opened.

    Thrawn would have known that both Vader and Dooku used the title Darth. I don't think it would take Thrawn much research to find out where that title came from.

  • @shackleferd07
    @shackleferd07 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    The big question is, was Thrawn one of the force sensitive children? He said usually females had force sensitivity, but there were some exceptions. Was he that? It explains a lot. How he would be so adept to his profession. Vader noted how the Chiss Children's minds were like Thrawn's. As interesting as it could be, I really hope he wasn't. You need someone like Thrawn outside the force just to show how remarkable they are.

    • @slytherpuff1
      @slytherpuff1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Edward Wakefield I don’t think so it was heavily implied those kids were killed once they lost their force sensitivity. And Thrawn is quite a genius but we don’t really have other Chis to compare him with to argue he was spared because he was a genius. Of course it’s implied the thing about them being discarded could be they go back to unimportant work but I doubt it. I’m leaning 80 percent they kill them 20 percent they don’t

    • @mondaysinsanity8193
      @mondaysinsanity8193 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@slytherpuff1 The Force is hereditary.
      Killing those who expressed the trait would result in Chiss having lower rates as time went on.
      Just like the Jedi were not celibate, but were unattached, and new Force sensitives were constantly being born in the Core worlds, but when the Jedi were wiped out this seemed to die down.
      It seems illogical to take the risk with a potential source of something so useful.

      @slytherpuff1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cassandrabelyeu2419 I’ve since re-thought that comment actually but forgot about it, so thanks for reminding me. When. killing one of the force sensitive s was prooosed as.a last resort if captured that mere thought of killing them seemed to of shook the Chiss. It could be because of their usefulness but I’ve sense grown on the idea that they are actually fond of them. They are children for the most part after all. • @Nemo12417

    Thrawn could have very easily learned that historically, there had been two major religions competing in the galaxy. Once it became clear that Palpatine had supernatural powers, guessing that Palpatine, who had publicly announced that the Jedi were traitors to be hunted and killed, was a Sith would be easy.
    The real question is how accurate Thrawn's knowledge was. As an outsider to the galaxy, Thrawn's knowledge of the Jedi and Sith would have to come from heavily censored and revised sources. In addition, information about the ancient Sith Empire would have likely been out of date.

    Could you discuss why Thrawn was willing to join an empire that was a highly anti alien?

    • @keighlancoe5933
      @keighlancoe5933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For one, Humanoid aliens didn't suffer as much racism as non-Humanoid aliens. The Chiss for all intents and purposes just look Human but with blue skin and red eyes, species such as the Chiss weren't really the main target of prejudice within the Empire as opposed to say... Jawas or Hutts who were very un-Human looking. Secondly, Thrawn was much more concerned with the Yuuzhon Vong of whom the Chiss lived very close to in the Unknown Regions and he wanted to make an alliance with the Empire to save his species from them, so he was able to put aside his pride and any other misgivings he might of had about the Empire due to this.

    I was thinking in the book about
    how Padme didn’t think there would be any stopping Anakin from destroying that mine, and she flash backed to
    what he did to the Tuscan Raiders. It makes me wonder how close to the events of The Revenge of the Sith we were. She seemed to have hesitation about being with him and if makes me wonder if a certain pregnancy perhaps made her double down on being with him.
    So do you have any hints or thoughts
    of the timeline ?

  • @FrostedSeagull
    @FrostedSeagull ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People are discussing in " a matter of fact way" that everyone in the Galaxy actively knew what the Sith were.
    Clone Wars
    Very few people remembered the Sith just before the Clone Wars
    The Sith had been 'extinct' for 800 plus years. Even members from the Jedi Council did not and would not believe the Sith had returned.
    Sidious was correct 8n saying 'arrogance blinds you. '
    Even when Qui-Gonn tells the Council, he fought someone well versed in the Jedi arts, BUT, had the hallmarks of a Sith . . . was not believed
    Novel - Death Star
    NOTE - Anyone asking about the Force, was OR knew of anyone who was Force sensitive, asked about midi-chlorians, the Jedi, asked way too many questions about what exactly happened on the night of Order 66, etc was reported to the Inquisitors or Darth Vader.
    In the novel Death Star, one unfortunate person accidentally stumbles across the term midi-chlorians.
    Spoiler Alert . . . that enquiring mind, unfortunately, was sent to a slave labour/prison planet by Vader.
    That particular person got lucky as
    . . . you have to read the novel to find out what happens.
    Thrawn knew both Vader and Sidious were Sith.
    However, being a very astute man, he very cautiously asked Vader.
    Thrawn wanted to know what the two Sith were up to.
    The way Thrawn asked was brilliant. He came across as genuinely interested, respectful, and as NO threat to either Vader or Sidious.

      In Lords of the Sith Vader specifically recognizes that anyone who sees Palpatine that isn’t in the inner circle wield a light saber is killed. it was kind of brutal plot point for Vader considering what happened in the end. And shortly after order 66 he’s scene burning many lightsabers so I think it would take more people by surprise than you think - it would seem hypocritical. Than again Vader isn’t hiding his saber so that might seem odd for your right hand man to have one after all that. Other than that though any citizen who glimpses it is sadly killed.
