What's up Jimmy? I live at an apartment complex right next to the Denver Tech Center neighborhood where I moved to from Houston, TX over 5 years ago. I work as a field tech in the Denver area so I have a lot of perspective on different neighborhoods and it is true that one neighborhood can have a stark contrast from others. I find the DTC-Centennial area ideal for corporate grinder types who just want all their shopping close by. I just had a nasty experience with one of those corporate snobs at a FedEx north of DTC. The social ineptitude can get pretty nuts throughout DTC and Centennial. But I've had good experiences, including today, in the Arvada area. Only reason I'm still near DTC is because I'm grandfathered into my luxury apartment and they've only raised my rent by 55-60 dollars a year. The migrants are only an issue when driving through parts of East Denver, Aurora, or Lakewood. They tend to stay closer to more Spanish speaking areas. As far as making friends I moved here on my own and especially with the pandemic it's been years of making temp friends but no long term but a lot of that has to do with me. I've been able to make friends with people on the spot in other neighborhoods but due to the distance they lived from me it made things not work out. So obviously it just helps to just live in that neighborhood. I still find myself more at home here than anywhere I've lived in Texas or the Washington DC metro where I grew up.

I really appreciate you watching and can't thank you enough for sharing your experience. It's always helpful to hear what people are seeing and going through and I am glad to hear that your experience in Denver has been pretty positive, I am a huge fan of Arvada, and I can agree with you on the points you made about DTC!

Good video. Attended a neighborhood info session last night w/an Arapahoe Cty Sheriff. My condo is in the DTC part of unincorporated Arapahoe Cty. Centennial and Greenwood Village are pockets within the immediate area (Peakview/Dayton). When you call 911 it can be frustrating as the agent needs to determine which police dept to send the call to. It can add life saving minutes in an emergency. Perhaps a story you can look into further. Appreciate your work.

I really appreciate you sharing that - and I will see if I can get some more information on that!

Denver is Denver. I been here about 39 years. Mostly in the dyc area, but also lived in parker, and off Hampden over the years. The biggest problems with Denver is the growth, the traffic, and expenses. It cost me $650 for a 1 bedroom apartment 20 years ago. That same size apartment these days would be $1800 easily. The traffic sucks and you pretty much need a car in this city. We have the rtd but the reach and price and regularity is lacking in some areas. I've seen most of my friends uends over the years move away, many not because they wanted to , but because they can't afford it here. I had at least 6 or 7 friends end up homeless at different stages fairly suddenly and ask to crash on my couch for unspecified amounts of time, which sucks when you like living alone. And the biggest problem besides all that is the government not seeming to see eye to eye with a majority of the people and implementing things that we really don't want, like more taxes. I love this town but it's getting harder to love each year as these problems compound and get worse.

I appreciate you watching and for your perspective. You hit on some very crucial changes that this city has experienced and I know a lot of people who share the same thoughts you do. I personally can agree with you on a lot of levels.

It’s true that every big city has its good parts and bad parts. However, some cities have more bad parts than others. Denver is a relatively safe city compared to LA, Detroit, St Louis, and Chicago. Also, it’s funny how people think it’s frigid cold in Denver all winter. Like I’ve been here since I was 2 minus 3 years in Seattle. I know Denver gets lots of sunshine
