    I think a video acknowledging the history of hip-hop in America and how it’s shaped the fact that Korean rappers even exist today could be cool. I’m not necessarily a fan of hip-hop today, but I do think that it’s early days were definitely a lot more experimental and creative.

      @@honed7150 true, I guess. I'm just saying that this video highlighted newer hip-hop but in another video, they could also showcase the significance of older hip-hop. The reason why hip-hop can be experimental and creative now is because the early days created that foundation (which may not be seen as creative now but was during its time).

    • @eathealthykalefood2388

      @@honed7150 no it’s not. Everyone has the same flow and the same beat but in the 90s and maybe early 2000s, they had their own voices, beats, and can ride the beat.

      true, the part that they said korean rappers talk about wholesome stuff is because they necessarily don't even understand the concept of hiphop, all they think is it's about "swag" and that US rappers are all about showing off, I mean these days it is but they should learn about it's history to understand how it evolved.

      The trend of music has changed. Either adapt or become irrelevant. So where are the older artists? They become irrelevant because they can’t adapt to the modern era.
      Social media played a huge part. TH-cam is by far the biggest platform and Gen Z and older are the ones who grew up with it. So they have the advantage, they are the ones that decide the trend.

    • @charlesm.2604
      @charlesm.2604 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think there is any influence. When you think about it the only "hip-hop sound" is the kick and that shit comes from Rock, the rest is really just about the culture of the rebellious vibes, the fashion style, etc. and all of those things are also influenced by general pop culture as well, like Jordans come from the NBA for example.
      I feel like Korean rap at its root is simply a subgenre of the manufactured Korean music industry just there to fill a market for the consumers that aren't interested in the other genres (kpop and whatnot), if you really do a deep dive you realize that all the artists regardless of their music genres are all signed to same labels and follow the same "training schools".
      The goal is to hit as many target audiences as possible without alienating anyone.
      There must be real hip hop in Korea but it would be underground or indie stuff. I mean just listen to these chicks they are shocked to see artists singing about sex because "it's a controversial topic", all of mainstream korean music is industry plant from the same labels pushing the same business model because they found the recipe that work so why not ? It's not like that in the US or anywhere else for that matter, the music industry is open instead of being controlled. For better or for worse.

    Rappers in the US are a dime a dozen. Their lyrics are for the most part about drugs, sex and gangsters, I won't listen to it. I also don't listen to country music either it's clean but we always joke it's about losing your wife, truck and dog. Lol
