His movie Dog is amazing and he directed it. Magic Mike basically gave him fuck you money so he does what he wants. Wish Logan lucky did better, it's a gem.
Because it’s not a very good movie? It has a bunch of good bit but it’s a fucking mess. The story concept would have worked so much better as a limited TV series.
It felt like watching a playlist of classy old-timey Hollywood bits, with forgettable rambling filler in between. The threads weren't stitched together. It didn't feel like a story.
Hail, Caesar! was easily one of the best films of 2016. Loads of fun. So many cool scenes to enjoy, so many wry and sly winks and digs at classic Hollywood. And the cast was super.
My favourite scene in the whole film - my dad and I were laughing throughout it the first time we saw it. The Coen brothers should totally do another musical someday!
Best compliment I can pay to Tatum is that, despite having been watching him in various films for easily 10-15 years, I've only embarrassingly recently realised that he's the same bloke that I've appreciated in so many of them. Yes, his face changes enormously depending on his weight, but I'm normally queen of working out where I've seen someone before despite tweaks to appearance. He's relentlessly watchable, and this scene absolutely underlines why.
When I think about this movie or Channing Tatum in general, I think about this incredible dance scene. I'll never forget watching it for the first time; I was floored!
When I watched this scene I was like "Damn, Channing can really dance" then quickly remember that he was in Magic Mike and Step Up movies before this 😂
@@caseydominick7806 The Coen Brothers made it, and the cast is a bunch of seasoned pros. The sequences are fun-- very diverse. It's kind of a tribute to 1950s Hollywood, warts and all. Lots of satire and poking gentle fun at icons of the time (Carmen Miranda, gossip columnists, big stars, ingenues, etc). Not just a cool story but a pleasure to look at and listen to. Highly recommended.
Wow! Incredibly charismatic lead. So, they still really could make classic-style Hollywood musicals. What a shame they don't. Great song. Great choreography. No profanity. Truly awesome excerpt.
By some degree. Anyone who doesn't yet get that Tatum's ridiculously watchable in most genres, I want to point to this. Beefcake who can knowingly laugh at himself? Veeeeeery limited choice. Beefcake who can scuttle off with an entire Coen Bros production based on 2 scenes? Field of one.

I love this movie. I certainly doesn't stand up to the titans that the Cohens have made like Lebowski, No Country, and Barton Fink, but this definitely deserves a spot in their underrated gems along with Intolerable Cruelty and Millers Crossing.
It didn't just have potential, it was a really good film. Channing Tatum is a much more talented actor than he is given credit for. He should be in more major movies and be a huge star by now.
He was everywhere in early 2010's, but keeping at the top seems like a daunting and difficult task.

He has a big and great talent between his legs.

I still can’t understand why this movie wasn’t more popular and more critically acclaimed. It’s a great example of the art of movie making.
