I lost a parent to a long, drawn out illness when I was a kid. These lyrics are absolutely brutal to listen to if you have ever suffered a childhood bereavement and have experience of navigating grief of that magnitude at a young age. I want to reach back into the past and comfort this little boy who reminds me of myself. This song resonates so strongly. I can feel the pain, confusion and anger in in the music, it was ripped straight out of his soul.

Just got the vinyl today and this song sounds amazing. There is some really great music behind the vocals which elevates this song to another level. I really love that rolling riff which feels to me like it could represent how life keeps going even through tragedy, especially in the fourth verse with the dramatic pauses. The pauses maybe represent how it feels like you can't go on after a tragedy but then the rolling riff starts again representing life going on despite everything that has happened. That's just how I felt when listening to this song! The whole album is great by the way.

Personally, I prefer when he does heavier music such as with Alterbridge and Slash but you can tell that this is the kind of stuff that he personally loves doing and I respect that. This is a very beatiful song in it's own write and hope it's very succesful for him :)
