Idk what it is, but Ryu dashes always make me mad af. In SFV his dash just felt like the other person was a belligerent caveman with two pebbles for brains mashing the forward button. It was just so damn dumb looking, but every damn Ryu did it.

Forward heavy kick when opponent is in the corner can be followed up with another forward heavy kick as a space trap whiff punish now. Can be repeated 2-5 times depending on distance and opponent character.

The standing jab change to Ryu is just to allow 3 jabs into HP Shoryuken to hit early into the move. Sometimes 3 jabs into shoryu before would hit late and the move would do less damage and not be cancellable into Lvl3

To this day hes been my favorite character and this was deserved considering hes the face of the franchise. I liked how people like Paladin played with him despite his flaws... Its amazing how people outside of him cling to trends... but thanks for showing the updates all the same.

@@killahteck402 Yes man, that’s one of the best buffs. Decent damage for 1 bar drive rush off a low rather than 3 before. And having Denjin whenever you want, it just feels like how he should of been from the start

I feel like the meta has shifted to characters that can spam normals in neutral into punish combos. Ryu, Dee jay, and gief is all i run into now. Draining your meter with cheese. I hate it here now
Who is your main?
Akuma, Zangeif and Aki are probably the meta character of the season. Ryu is good but he is a lot harder to win with than Akuma, Zangeif and Aki.

I'll gladly take all of these buffs and then some. As a Ryu player in sf6 since the beginning nobody had anything to say when he was terrible, but now people want to take the bit we get for this character lol

Bigbird just won recently with RASHID which wasnt his main but it says alot about how quickly he transitioned from Marisa to Rashid. The other day another guy won a tournament with Lilly. Both these examples neither chracter is in the top tier but what both PLAYERS had in common were TOP TIER SKILL as a player. I think people need to focus on this more the fact MENAR can switch and quickly become good is proof players just need to MAN UP and stop looking for excuses. I PERSONALLY think sf6 has really the BEST BALANCE because veteran players can no longer rely on cheap gimmics and RUN AWAY WITH A LEAD compared to now the PRESSURE is present from start to finish with DI and parries that anybody can make a comeback and SF6 truly sperates the "men from the boys". It truly exposed skilled players from PATCH players.
i dunno, i think it has the lowest skill gap of any sf ever personally. You are right in that, anyone can win. Those tools, and the volatile nature of the game, give lesser players more of a chance to win against better players, and im sure thats deliberate. Noobs have never had it better

Anybody can pick the broken character EVERYONE can use DI DR so trying to pretend its "lower skill" is a bad way of looking at it. i havnt seen MENARD complain ONCE he just works really hard and continue to grow his character pool. ITS MONEY on the table for him thats why he has no time to complain he only ADAPTS. You really telling me that the new SF6 mechanics has EVENED out the playing field and skill gap? WHY is ANGRY and MENARD veteran sf players yet they still DOMINATE. i dont see any new player using new mechanics winning tournaments so its very CLEAR some are STRUGGLING while other veterans have secret knowledge.
@@nunyabizwacks6711 "lower skill gap" you refering to is ONLY TRUE AND APPLICABLE if a total new guy enters the scene and SF6 being his 1st game using the new mechanics to win tournaments but i still see VETERAN players like MENARDS and ANGRY winning tournaments so this proves certain VETERAN PLAYERS are just bad. They require a "patch" a "buff" a "nerf" to help them out they just not skilled enough to clutch the win.

The ability to hold denjin charge shouldve been there since day 1. My favorite SF character of all time is finally fun again and hes top-ish tier!
To me an average platinum level player so far...these buffs and nerfs kind of mean nought lol...nonetheless Punk your stuff is great!

Yeah...just watch...I wouldn't be surprised if Punk becomes the World's best Ryu after this....such an incisive player.
No Ryu downplay from me because they literally gave him everything they could (minus a faster walk speed and 7 frame low foward) but Akuma and Ken are pretty much fighting over the top spot right now. Ryu is about 11-14 position right now. Better than bottom 5 for all of season 1.

Ryu may be better than Ken at this time. He has degenerate damage and frame advantage and conversions.

Ryu been my main before the patch... since the demo. Went through the struggle of him being C tier and called boring before the buffs, before the patches... now everybody been coming in droves lol welcome lol.

Those light changes with the pushback make light denjin hashogeki confirmable for full combos
For anyone wondering about the jab changes, you used to only be able to get 2 jabs on hit and block, being able to get 3 just makes hit confirming easier, as well as making his mixup game slightly stronger

Rashid normals always seemed short compared to Ryu Ken cept his overheads but they seem quick asf
Although Ryu is in a much better state, he is nowhere near the top 5 best characters atm. He's not even better than Ken or Akuma imo. Ryu is a solid mid tier, most likely top 10.

Ryu still suffers from having a middling walk speed, 6HP being very slow on start up, and having somewhat stubby confirms off of 5MP but he feels much much stronger now. Luke, Ken and Akuma are still definitely better lol
His 5MP is the only thing that feels kinda crappy playing him now everything else feels pretty cozy to me.

He's definitely stronger but it feels like he needs more buffs especially with his knockdown rewards. I know he's supposed to be more neutral focused compared to Ken and Akuma so his wake up options aren't as great but denjin charge is still too slow and unsafe for most of his knockdowns aside from donkey kicks and while the denjin cancels on his target combos are nice, you aren't really ending on those.
I don't agree. He gets L tatsu pretty easily as a BnB, as it combos from lights. From L tatsu, he can dash forward and do L Hashogeki for a degenerate +oB meaty and mixup guessing game.
@@Un1234l L hasho's -3 on block though unless its ex which is +3. It still loses vs ex dps and drive reversal but does win vs wake up mashing and grabs so its not all that bad.

It's + as a meaty. And even when not used as a meaty, -3 oB allows for easy and degenerate perfect parry mindgames. You try to take your turn back with a 4 frame light, you get perfect parried. Watch MDZ Jimmy to see how powerful Hashogeki is.
