I am a College History professor, I have been teaching History for 25 years, and the best students I have had over the years were the ones who were homeschooled. They were more prepared, engaged, polite and had a great thirst for learning!

I Homeschooled my children from 1996-2008.....long before most people heard about not sending kids to inferior public schools. I always knew that I could teach my girls better and with more love than ANY person involved at our rural public school. I loved every minute of the time I spent with them. They earned black belts, participated in 4H, wrote novels, created art, performed many levels above their public school peers in all academic subjects, and ran their own businesses by the time they graduated from our home high school. Not surprisingly, they graduated "summa cum laude" from universities in the northeast.
Homeschooling is an act of love. I would encourage any parent to homeschool your children, protect them from school shootings, crt, gender theory, and the hate taught to Christian children.

Both of my children were homeschooled through high school. My youngest wanted to learn Japanese and there was no way that I could teach him, so I said that he could only learn it if I enrolled him into the local community college. I also said that he would fail in the college because he had never been in a classroom. Besides, why did he need to know it anyway? I was wrong! Two years later, my husband came home and asked me if I wanted to move to Japan. So, I enrolled him in the local community college along with myself. He earned a higher grade than me. In Japan, he found a local school that teaches foreigners how to speak Japanese. He would get up early in the morning, take my laptop, and drive close to the school and walk a few blocks to take 4 hours a day of Japanese. No one in that school spoke English. He earned his own laptop that year. He also received a high school diploma from the sate of Maryland, minored in Japanese at the University of Maryland, College Park, and got a full time job offer before he graduated which was left open until he graduated. Homeschooling is amazing!

For example, when I was in high school I loved animation and had an interest in learning how to do that. Also there were languages I wanted to study but weren’t available at public school.
The stuff we had in public school art class was extremely boring and ridiculously easy.
Someday if I have kids I will be homeschooling too. Because I think you can give a better education.
For example, I read one commenter who let their kid sign up for local college class to learn Japanese.
I know high school kids can sign up for college classes. Plus all the online education channels.
For me, I know I could have learned how to do animation professionally just via online classes.
      There’s so many exciting possibilities.

Home school veteran mom here. Homeschooled kids are allowed to be part of the population pool. They aren't told to sit down shut up and listen in a classroom full of 36 plus desks. When mom has to go to the bank, child goes with her; when mom has to go to the store, child goes with her; when mom has to do any business dealings during the week, the child goes with her. This gives the child the opportunity to see real life in real time as it happens. It helps them learn how to speak to people and all kinds of situations. Again not told to sit down shut up and listen in a classroom.... They get real life experience (which is way better than a piece of paper in a wooden frame, in my opinion). I wish I had home schooled my kids. The daily secular barrage is overwhelming kids. Today add the CRT, Trans, revisionist history and unions that care more about politics than our kids and it isn’t any wonder our test scores are lower vs the rest of the world. Time for public schools to face competition and home schooling is one great option!

And he's already got the mindset to work hard and be self starter by seeing myself and my husband. Hes such a smart kid. Why waste talent on busy work in a classroom? He's flourishing at home. One on one goes so much faster.

This movie was the best best best documentary my husband and I has seen.
It was very edifying. This allowed us to see that we can do this. I thought we had to be excellent in math which we aren’t good at that. But this movie encouraged us ! And this shall be our goal. We going to do this !!
After this movie we made a decision to do it !
I see so much fruit from this movie !

Been homeschooling going on 5 years. Started because hubby and I both had poor public and private school experiences and wanted our kids to be able to learn in whatever pace and whatever method worked best for them. I've taught both my neurotypical and special needs children everything from reading and writing to ancient history and world geography to biology and physics to classical music and art (and trust me, I suck at art but my kids love it anyway).
We only school 4 days a week. We start at 8 AM. We're usually done by 11 AM for lunch. And then my kids get to spend the rest of the day doing whatever they like. Sometimes that's going strawberry and blueberry picking as a family. Sometimes it means nature walks and park trips. Some days it's laying around the house reading library books or playing Minecraft.
My oldest is a social butterfly who makes friends with people of all ages. My middle son keeps to himself, but because of his autism (and his daddy's own introverted proclivities) he wasn't likely to be very social anyway. He enjoys playing with trains by himself instead. And my youngest is my adventurer daredevil who would climb every tree and leap off every ledge in existence if I let him! I believe homeschooling has given them all the freedom to be themselves without peer pressure to conform, and learn new skills they never would have otherwise, whether it's building a camp fire in the back yard with a magnifying glass or learning how to properly order food at a restaurant by themselves, or learning about other world cultures through immersion and experience (we're currently studying Japan, practicing using our chopsticks, watching anime, making origami animals, and learning simple Japanese phrases).
YOU CAN HOMESCHOOL! Even if you work. Even if you don't feel equipped. Even if you think you don't have the patience. I promise you, all you need is a willingness to learn alongside your child, a library card, and a few research skills.

I homeschooled to start but my daughter wanted to try school. Then homeschooled briefly for 4 months, then she wanted to go back to school. After so many negative experiences again, cv19 just made it easy to just keep her home. My daughter didn't want to go back. So here we are. Loving life. I cannot believe the garbage they've been teaching kids in public school!

I was sure I couldn't homeschool. But after a homeschool seminar & couldn't wait to get started. My daughter was bored in a Christian school that was moving too slowly for her. We completed her book work in 2 hrs. then went to swim & gym, etc. I did nanny work & schooled, got all my chores done. Its very doable for everyone in nearly every situation, even single moms which I was later..

Now I have three children with master's degrees and one in the medical profession but not a single one of my children is transgender or was groomed by a pedophile. We tell parents today homeschooling may not be for you and your family because it takes commitment it takes time it takes energy and you better make it your focus. Unfortunately today most people I know don't do homeschool they claim they do but they just keep their kids at home

Truly devoted homeschooling is great. We know that smaller class size is helpful for learning because you can directly address questions and keep working on difficult concepts instead of just moving on. Teachers cannot do that because there isn't the time per student. They have to "batch teach" and keep moving the curriculum forward when 80% get it. There are, by the way, no drag queens at our school. None of that.

I was homeschooled from 4th grade up through high school. I enjoyed it and now have a masters degree. I have seen good homeschool parents but also have seen parents who "homeschool" - without discipline or persistence of the education of their children. These parents are using homeschooling as an excuse to do whatever they want and neglect their child's education. I've also seen children with special needs who do not get the specialized intervention needed because their parents were mad at the local school district but do not have resources or knowledge to teach the child effectively. The vast majority of homeschooled children I know grew up to be successful and responsible adults, but homeschooling isn't without its drawbacks, and should be considered on a case-by-case basis.

I did a homeschool/early college program. I was lucky to get into great schools like Johns Hopkins, USC, and UCLA for behavioral neuroscience. Homeschool is excellent, and I will do it with my future kids. My only complaint was that many of these kids grow up with underdeveloped social skills. Make sure they participate in church activities, service, sports, science clubs, and other extracurricular activities. This may not be the case in other programs, but it is oddly the case in mine. Maybe it was a small sample size, but it is just something to keep in mind.

(The one we use comes with a teacher's guide that walks you step by step through everything and even does all the scheduling for you).

The culture around homeschooling definitely seems different now than it was several years ago. But, I have to say, most of the kids I knew growing up who were homeschooled were among the least-developed people I knew. They were years behind in social skills. Their education was . . . interesting, to say the least. I remember a homeschooled guy at my church who was 16 asking me what the bill of rights was. Another guy I knew had never heard of the theory of evolution until after he graduated and his girlfriend took him to a science museum. All of their parents were the weirdest sort of religious evangelicals, and I say that as a religious person. I’m only 24, so this wasn’t in the days of yore. I really want to believe these guys when they say that homeschooling is the best decision they’ve ever made, but my past experiences made it seem really risky. Maybe there are just better resources out there now than when the people I knew were growing up.

He is right. I was homeschooled, and I had no problems discussing politics and adult concepts at an early age. My problem, however, was I'm an only child, and my parents didn't make the effort to get me to socialize with people my age. So, it was really hard for me to talk about what I considered vapid topics growing up, like makeup or boys. And, in truth, it's still very difficult for me to make small talk at work or with cashiers when I go shopping. I could sit down and discuss big things with people, but if I'm never gonna meet you again, I really don't want to have a long boring conversation about THE WEATHER. For Pete's sake, people, please stop it with the weather or sports. Maybe that's just my Scandinavian background coming through, maybe I'm on the autism spectrum, or maybe I'm just very utilitarian in my approach to human interactions, but I find small talk uncomfortable, boring, and pointless. A complete waste of time. Talk with me about something interesting or nothing at all!

The structure is built in for you and we haven’t had any problems with teachers filling our kids heads with junk we don’t like because we can listen in whenever. So what do yall think about parents homeschooling their own children if the parent has depression, or other psychological issues that they are trying to work through? Because thats me. One of the things holding me back is that I have been battling depression for 3 years - and I know myself. I would struggle with consistency and getting the kids out of the house to experience the world. But I long to try homeschooling with my children even dispite that - because I crave that involvement and time with them... and also I feel safer having control over their environment. What do y'all think?

If you do a homeschool program through a charter school there are homeschool programs that offer some on campus learning a few days a week at the charter school so they can be with other kids and take some of the responsibilities off of you. Should they be around you? Well my mom had mental health problems and was always very sweet to me-ALSO- my step mom had depression and was verbally abusive to me so I think it depends how you treat your kids when you’re having your struggles. Are you unable to get out of bed some days? do you have a family member who can help those days? It’s hard to watch your mom suffer but I’m convinced public school is one of the most toxic environments a parent can put their children into.

Isolation is not really good for anyone...the government shut down schools for 2 years! My homeschooled kids had friends, scouts, swim team, soccer, baseball, music, outside classes...isolation isn't really part of a healthy life and even being part of a family is not isolation. Homeschooled kids are isolated is really a myth, even my own parents tried to use that one on me. In the end, I think they were pretty happy with how their grandsons turned out 😉
