Starfield was a horrible game, so I never finished. I felt the same about hogwarts legacy. Both could have been better without the added cultural marxism that realistically wouldn't exist.
That's literally why Jodorowsky with his attempt at Dune and Ridley Scott with Alien is genius. They got different artists that were the best at what they did to each deaign specific aspects of the world. I seriously dont get why that method hasnt been adopted more.
that method has been abandoned because there is a lack of filmmaking prestige in modern america. the money that would have gone to principal factors of the production or design of any film, now rarely finds its way to artists in favour of large spending on 'flavour of the month' whatever or whoever it may be. so much money is spent that it only ever guarantees a flop in todays hands generally speaking. the landscape is to put all your eggs in one basket. of a cross section of a single $200 million dollar film, against 100 $2 million dollar films- it is obvious that the $200m film will be an instant flop, usually hinging only on the budget considerations and how the production has no idea how to spend it, automatically the film will not succeed- this is not an assumption it is a guarantee. many of the smaller $2m films by comparison would generally critically succeed, due to how dealing with the funding limitation itself is a creative / problem solving task that requires half a mind in the first place. the $200m film would instead 'spend away' the problems of the film, but then this expensive film itself then suffers the lack of feeling or hollow feeling for how much dough was spent on a problem, or if it was even a problem in the first place. this inability to solve filmmaking problems is innately happening because of the way problems are solved in production and how it relates to spending. new media lacks so much of what we had less than 20 years ago and it's not all technical how it's made kind of shit, it is more to do with spending.
it's because art is claptrap bullshit. the entire purpose of breadcircus is to pacify. This is why Frank Zappa would talk about(im paraphrasing) eventually they won't press anymore records and print anymore books, because they won't be needed.
and what I mean by this, is because the nature of art is to ensare your senses, the art with the most success and that will be pushed the hardest by the central authority (the club of rome) will be pornographic by default, because that is purpose of art. Take any story that would have had value, put a bimbo in it, add turmoil inbetween men, etc etc. You are the mark, you are the target. And they are laughing at your ignorance.
Dune is so bad imo, it shouldn't be compared to alien. Dune relies on monolithic imagery and an aesthetic of oversimplified brutalism architecture/environments to create an eery atmosphere but it just comes across as empty and placeholder. Alien has a great artistic foundation because of giger
"its a show about space guys, but they are incompetent/silly/depressed" wow great idea, but I liked it better when it was called Darkstar and it was made in 1974.
I doubt he was being honest when he said that. I've got a inkling that Russian accents are like nails to a chalkboard to his ears. Russian works also tend to make you miserable, so maybe that's part of the reason why he doesn't want to engage with them.
That'd be funny to go to some interview with like some big shot art exhibition director, dressed up like a beatnik or something really serious looking, and then hand them a portfolio that's just full of nothing but cones and spheres with shadows, cross-hatching etc.
Starfield is the worst game, honestly it’s an embarrassment from Bethesda and the fact that everyone was going after cd project red for 2077 just shows how low their expectations for Bethesda was, the AI in star field is terrible
Fallout 4 was mid but I liked it for unintended purposes: I would pacify settlers around the Commonwealth and bring them to Sanctuary. The goal was to hoard 100 settlers in one spot. By the end my game would crash every 30 seconds, but it was funny as hell and I love pushing console capabilities. Starfield doesn't come anywhere close.

Also more ppl should just learn to draw when they’re older. Raw skill based drawing, I think art is impossible to learn before 30, you have an ego in your 20s and art is impossible to learn with an ego.

No, it's bad, but it does work that dopamine button. Realize that your enjoying slop, and try to seek out better stuff. The catch is, Starfield is the best recent game at what it's trying to do.
I would agree, when shit like Dragon Age Inquisition gets a pass and Elden Ring becomes arguably one of the most praised games in history when it’s majorly flawed and much worse than every previous fromsoft souls game while Starfield gets treated like the worst piece of shit in years, something’s a little off. This doesn’t mean Starfield wasn’t disappointing or Bethesda’s worst game yet either.
