It's okay to not know what you're talking about ^ Most of the show isn't that, it's horrible idiots acting like schizophrenics and letting it carry them to chaos.
Sam not wanting to be away from home is a classic Rhode Islander attitude to have. I've lived in RI for almost 20 years now and have unwittingly adopted that mindset. Something about living here inculcates it into a person. A closely related phenomenon I've observed here is that despite being the smallest state, almost no one ever wants to drive anywhere more than ~15 minutes away from their home. Coming originally from AZ where everything is a 30+ minute drive away I found that incomprehensible but after living here I have somehow become exactly that way. Strange to my out of state mind but also not strange to my RI mind. I haven't really given much thought as to why it is that way here so I can't really explain it, but it is that way and I like it.
Honestly you have bits of everything, city that's not too big, nature close by, sea, small towns close to Providence. It's a nice place to live, normally people that don't live in toxic places don't have to urge to "escape". Compare that with people in other bigger stressful places and they are always wanting to go on vacation.
She has to be into you for it to work in the first place. The whole idea of the DENNIS system doesn't make sense anyway. Why bail at the end if you can just repeat steps 1 and 2?
Earlier today my friends and I were laughing about the episode where Dennis and Dee are extras in a movie about some civil war and are supposed to just act as dead people but Dee thinks she's in a zombie movie (and also wants to be the star of the movie) and its just the camera panning through the pile of bodies and then Dee just going "BRRRAAIIINSSS". Also Cricket's arc in this show from priest to whatever the fuck he becomes is just amazing. All the characters just become worse versions of themselves
Letterkenney was good for a few seasons until they made half of each episode a string of alliteration. Curb was best when Larry was a dick mostly because he was always misunderstood in awkward situations. After the break the last season or two was just him being such a dick he caused the awkwardness. Always Sunny is one of the best ever. Some ups and downs through the seasons but overall very strong. My two cents, at least.
Letter Kenny and Shoresy are great but yeah when they do that stuff for more that a minute I roll my eyes and tune out. It's still funny, but they really get Family Guy levels of repetitive too often.
@@GobbersmackThis. The funny parts are in a vaccum unlike Sunny or TPB which rely on story. Letterkenny has the worst plotline and plots for any sitcom ever.
Sam and I share the same view on Dennis' character. Nobody plays a clinical sociopathic narcissist like Glen Howerton plays Dennis. It's what takes the show from a 95% to 100%
wonder if they've ever seen trailers park boys. very similar comedy. I like how in tpb they think they're gonna retire for life by making like $10,000 through illegal means.
Re-watching the first few seasons of Always Sunny is such a breath of fresh air, bc literally everything is politically incorrect and could never be done now lol
The thing that Always Sunny does that no other show does as well is they don't just set up a single joke and then set up the next one. One thing makes you smile then the next line makes you chuckle, the next line makes you fully laugh, and they just never let up. It has a way of really "twisting theknife". Like the episode where they're trying to find charlie a gf, the scenes where mac and dennis are helping him make his dating profile and the scene where he's on the date with the lawyer chick. It's so funny and they just keep escalating the situation, then by the time you recover you're in the next scene already.
The first time I saw Dennis yell "WE CANT HAVE YOU RUINING THIS FOR US" while ditching Mac in the parking lot, I lost my shit. They really knocked it out of the park for the first 10 seasons. Ill still watch every episode they make, and be thankful for it, but the first decade was golden.
The funniest part is that the European guy plays it as he’s getting sick of Dennis. It’s subtle but you can tell he thinks he’s like being weird and killing the vibe
I love Always Sunny. It's the best show ever. It gets better and better. Every episode is a home-run. It's starting to get weaker now but still funny. Danny Devito made it the best thing ever. There's a purple Wiggles guy who looks and acts just like Dennis and I can't stop seeing it.
I really think P Diddy wanted to be on the show (Dr. Jinx in "Charlies Mom Has Cancer") because he connected with Dennis' character at a very deep level. He was like, "Damn I GET this whiteboy."
I've rewatched Always Sunny probably 30+ times in the last 10 or so years. Amount of joy that show provides me is insane tbh. Very happy Sam is a fan. I'd say my favorite show together with Peep Show. Goated sitcoms for me personally.
I love ASIP and last year went down a rabbit hole of the UK show Peep Show. Its crazy the similarities at some points, even down to the cameras used in filming. I really think Rob was watching Peep Show when and took some inspiration, not knocking that it just is too close to think a coincidence (plot lines, interactions, look and feel) . All that to say, if you havent watched Peep Show, do yourself a favor and queue it up bruv, its mad crackin.
I think Sam appreciates it when a show pushes boundaries. IASIP has always pushed boundaries, race, religion, gender, etc, without getting in “trouble”.
The scene in Always Sunny that made me fall over laughing was the scene where Dee is on the bus, and everyone freezes completely still, and she has to climb over and under people to get off the bus. It was such a sudden break in reality, I almost passed out laughing at it.
Sam is mistaken about Dennis...He did not peak in highschool and he was not popular in highschool...He was/is a delusional narcissist who the popular kids hated and never spent time with...
Does anyone know which clip it is where Sam says something along the lines "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast"? In the clip he also talks about how he's seen silly billies stay consistent and have success. Ive been looking for it for weeks now and cant seem to find it.
You can really see where sam draws inspiration from its always sunny, the use of realistic extras who look like homeless or crackheads is one of the similarities I see
We’ll never have a female character like Dee again
She really is like the only really funny female character there has ever been. She's pretty funny in "The Mick" too, actually.
