Hi James. Who needs Wren kitchens lol 😆 For a general DIY person your efforts are incredible 👍🏻 Your videos must be giving the average DIY person more confidence in taking on some of what your doing 😁 Cheers Stevie 😎
I know your having a cooker and hob James but I would highly recommend the thetford triplex 3 burner hob and oven grill.I fitted one in my self build motorhome and it's fantastic.
Love all the step-by-step stuff ! Re floor lockers etc .... how are you going to adjust the ballast (both side-to-side and maybe front-to-back) to compensate tor the kitchen & bathroom? Also may be worth planning for some inspection hatches in the floor to track and dry out in case of leaks (e.g. from your water pipes) ?
I like watching how you do things to the boat, my concern was, do you want electrics near a heat object? (oven).. my thought was if there is only you most of the time on the boat, how often are you going to actually use an oven? you could buy instead an Aire fryer which also does chickens like in an oven, then you could store it away some where, instead of having a big cabinet sticking out. God bless, a great job you are doing.
Another great vlog , things coming on quickly , are you going to have an overhang on your work top at the front of your sink , because it might foul your tower side ?. Keep up the good work 👍
Greetings, I'm amazed at your progress...For not having much practical experience .. Fair enough, what 's your day job? Nice that your Parents around. What are you going to do with the open space opposite the Galley? Best Regards, TTFN
Hi James looking good regarding kitchen units but have the same concerns about heat and electrics as many. Cant see the space you have on the other side of the galley, but could a flatter cupboard/compartment fit on that side, even lower down at worktop height, might allow for inverter stuff and solar stuff, if you are doing that. Just a thought cos I have no skills on electrics. Stay safe (PJ)
I'm thinking that for safety reasons you may have to have your ignition key where you can jumq to it ever so quickly as you travel along (swimming dogs heading towards the qroqellor or worse). Other folk have raised the issue of instrument qanels suffering from the heat above the oven. Isn't the wall area the other side the door big enough?
Sorry James but I'm harping on about the stove again. I think you need to get sight of BS8511. This appears to be the origin of the information referenced by the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) and SOLIFTEC. The standard is expensive to buy (£107) but I suspect someone in your community will have access to a copy. You can see a preview on the BSI website and that preview includes a list of the Figures within the document. From this list you can see that several scenarios are dealt with, the one illustrated by BSS and SOLIFTEC possibly being the worst case, where combustible surfaces are parallel to the surfaces of the stove. The standard also deals with your proposed arrangement where combustible surfaces are at an angle to the stove. Hope this helps.
It's coming together nicely James. Just concerned about your oven (if gas) being right below all your electrics. Will you be putting a panel above the oven and will it be ok for boat safety?
do you have to keep final weight in mind? I was thinking Crane capacity. also would running your plumbing "inside" your cabinet give you more "center" space, I know it's not much of a difference in remaining floor space, but when your maximum space is at a premium, would it help you?
The crane will lift 100 tonnes so I’ll be a fraction of capacity. If you’re talking about my final weight, well I’ve just had 2 packs of Jaffa cakes so......
Hi James. I'm a bit confused why you are putting in the units before fully lining the boat and getting your wiring and electrics done? This will surely create much more work for you later on. Usually boats get fully lined then electrics, wiring then fit out. Hmmm.
To be honest, you’re right. However I’m not actually having too much electrics on board beyond the galley. All lights are in ceiling and conduit is in. The rest is fed through conduit trays under gunnels which can go in at any time. I’ve just had my LEDs delivered so I’ll be doing electrics at the weekend I’m guessing
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt I would recommend putting in 240v electic sockets while you can as harder to put in later, even if your not having an inverter they are useful when on hookup
Nice job! Regarding the sink being possibly slid under the sill work, I would caution against this because of the propensity for water to splash and spill at the worst of times, such as when dish washing. This will cause rot damage that should be considered.
The other thing you could do by not having a washing machine is to get a caravan washer which is mobile and can be stored out the way. They are about £90 if you do a bit of research. I will send you a link.
Hi James. Cruising the Cut managed to get a narrow washing machine, but it's a top loader. Not sure if it would work for you? appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/wmtf722h/hotpoint-wmtf722h-freestanding-washing-machine Did you get your package? It arrived yesterday, according to Hermes... All the best.

Kitchens are us by Mr James of London well done mate.
Oh I don’t know about that, I’m glad the kitchen is done to be honest. It’s all a bit “too precise” for my liking !!!
Coming along nicely James
Great job buddy.
Nice to see it coming along James.
Great job James 👍🏻.you inspired me do get my acoustic guitar out today(been playing ukulele) hope someday we can have a jam.

If you have more carcasses to make a couple of assembly blocks makes construction of boxes more efficient..

Did a project with melamine and found that the glue does not stick to the surface. Use plenty of screws.

ah - 5.33 instrument qanel can face across the corridor the cuqboard will create.

Yeah I hear ya! I could use some CS board to take the heat, I’ll check the oven spec but I may need to house the electrics to the right of the tower
You should of sanded the 20mm Melamine on both edge 's so as to get a proper key bond for the glue to adhere to, as well as screwing together. 😎👍👌😉
Consider sink height in relation to the skin fitting outlet..
I think it’s well above the water line for an efficient flowing skin fitting 👍🏼

Have you got any concerns about the electrical control unit above the oven like overheating

P.S. What room radiators for warm?
TTFN
Loving these updates James. Have you considered a back boiler for your stove ? You could run a radiator to your bedroom to keep you warm in winter.
I know but I’ve just bought this stove and kind of wish I’d bought one with a BB now and gravity fed the rads
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt pretty sure they can be retro fitted as I’ve seen them for sale.
How’s the locker going to work and be accessible underneath the cardboards?
I noticed the same thing, the bottom of the cabinet needs to be removable to access it
Ah ha! You’ll have to see on the next vid. It was on my list !! 👍🏼
Using a spirit level looks easy. But if the boat is not level or listed might send you a stray.
Having your electronics over the oven might be a problem , overheating them.
Have to clean off that extra foam NOW, or you won't reach it without a big mess

Mate yes I did get my package. You’re so kind and thoughtful!! That hot choc was delish 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Any waisted space can used. Lol!
Why are you not having a washing machine James?
Power. Size. Laundrette services everywhere
👍👌🇨🇦❤,
