Oooo! It used to be an actual farm truck. It's still got the JA (Japan Agriculture) sticker on it.
Silt isn't much of an indicator for tsunami. Most farmland is near major waterways to a certain degree because they need to flood the fields for rice production. That and outside the 2 major flood plains (Osaka, Tokyo areas) it's all valleys. So there is usually major flooding somewhere in Japan every year from rain or such.
More farmers than I thought would be reasonable run their KeiTora's into the ground so the condition of the truck isn't so surprising. It's a business expense and being so cheap they don't even bother beyond the most basic repair. In Japan any Kei vehicle up around 100,000km is worthless as a trade in and actually will cost money to get rid of. Nobody takes anything off your hands for free either. So the farmer will actually really take care of the vehicle and use it forever or run it into the ground.

P.S. I searched around a bit, but all the KS4 clusters have no tach however there are some KV3/KV4 ones... it's the van version of the Sambar. Can't be sure on compatibility though but it seems likely.

So that's what JA stands for. Was wondering that. Yes, the Sambar trucks never had a tach cluster. Was looking at the Sambar Dias van clusters. My buddy, @SammieTheSambar on IG swapped one into his 92 Sambar supercharged.

Not that you owe anyone an explanation.... but it makes sense.
I watch for entertainment, and i usually have youtube on for background noise while doing something else.... so explaining in the videos is helpful, i can follow along, but i don't have to watch and give my full attention...
Can't wait for episode 3 to see how it ends....
Those side seals are weird.... they just kinda stuff in there?

About the date on that timing belt, you said 04/06. Don’t forget it’s a JDM belt, and Japanese often use their own system for numbering years. 1992 is Heisei 4. They also commonly format dates starting from the year. I think your belt was original! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heisei

In case anybody needs to replace a clutch in their sambar I found that you can get a clutch for the Subaru Justy of similar year for a 3rd of the price of sambar parts, but I found that only the friction disc and throw out bearing are the same, the pressure plate wouldn’t line up. but normally that’s all you really need. This was the case for my 1992 Sambar

You don't have to explain yourself bud. Really looking forward to the start up tune up. My 94 Sambar starts, runs a bit, then dies. Then I crank it again and it runs just fine. I'd live to fix it!

Pump the gas first? Cold start on them you normally have to pump the accelerator 2-3 times.

I prefer you doing the repair so I can see how did you do the replacement even if you say that it's easy. I am still in deciding which kei to buy but so far it is the Subaru for farming and selling organic products.

Besides a Subaru Dealership, where else would you recommend a safe business to get older Subarus serviced/diagnosed for random problems I am having with my older 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5XT. Perfect body. Just needs some attention on the internal parts. Either good businesses or ways on finding a good business to get my Subaru serviced wise for diagnosing. I tried myself and it didn't go too well. With youtube videos and google, I kind of tend to go down a rabbit hole pretty fast as far as solutions to problems I think I'm having versus what the problems I am actually having. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Why replace the tensioner assembly when you could just press in a new sealed bearing? How much wear could have accumulated on the pulley?

Fukushima? (at 5:38), Uhhh, I know you like investing in new tools Mr. Subaru, perhaps it's time to get a Geiger Counter to examine your Sambar.
