I am an adoptive child of color & John Denver made me feel I was good enough & worthy! My adoptive white family always made sure I listened to John Denver his voice is my home, love you beautiful man. Thank you.
Funny story. I met John in Russia at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in I think 1983. He was on a culture exchange with Jim Henson of Muppet fame. I worked at "Uncle Sam's" which was a snack bar by day and a bar & dance hall by night inside the embassy compound. I saw him standing in a darkened corner by himself drinking a cup of Koff beer (from Finland). I was 19. I casually walked up and pointed my index finger at him in a "cool" sort of way and said "Hey, how ya doin' ". I think he like the style because he did the same thing back to me and said, "I'll have to remember that.". Then stupidly and without thinking I blurted out, " Hey, where are you from?". He starred at me for a couple of seconds like he was amazed to have been asked that. Now at this point he could have said a number of things. But he chose to err on the side of politeness as he quietly responded, "Colorado". We then sat down and talked about his intrically embroidered cowboy boot. But mostly he wanted to learn all he could about the KGB (the Soviet state police force).
Holy cow, what a small world! I was watching this video since I love John Denver and I almost fell out of my chair when I read your comment! I went to Russia in 1985 with a high school tour group (I was a senior that year) and our group went to Uncle Sam’s at the Embassy as part of our trip! I remember buying a souvenir t shirt there with Uncle Sam pointing. And you were there two years before me and I didn’t meet John Denver of course, but what a cool coincidence! If you were still working there in 1985 I might have seen you. 😁
Certain songs like "Prisoners", "Wild Mountain Skies" and "The Eagle and the Hawk" are so good that I can't imagine how he's not mentioned along with the greatest singers and lyricists of all time
Loved seeing John bond with Robin. I think there's something in my eye 🥲 13:48 John has such a way with kids. 17:30 Not to mention he has that rare trait of being able to admit when he's wrong. They don't make 'em like John anymore.
John had such a positive influence over my life as a teenager. He had something that I was seeking. He gave me assurance and comfort. He saw, he knew, the bigger picture. He is a kindred spirit and a peaceful soul. Thanks for the memories John. See ya soon. ✌️❣️👣🙏🏼🌻
RIP John Denver (1943-1997), Kermit the Frog, Waldorf, Rowlf and Zeke (1936-1990), Robin the Frog, Floyd Pepper, Camilla and Slim Wilson (1934-2012) and Scooter, Janice, Statler and Bubba (1951-1992)
John Denver's music and I like the Muppets and I'm 17 and I enjoy watching them to this day and I don't care what other people say about the Muppets not other people's opinions I like them up it's an animal is my favorite
Ah, John Denver. A good friend of Jim Henson and the Muppets, AND a swell guest star on The Muppet Show. You and John were both great people, Jim, and you'll both be deeply missed.
Holy Crap I knew I wasn't crazy. I had remembered the muppets going camping and couldn't remember the name of it. Had to search on Wiki to find it. Thanks for preserving my fading memory.
I am pleased to say that my nine year old has loved the muppet show since she was three. We recently watched A Muppet Family Christmas and screamed with joy until we were told how loud we were being when we saw Jim himself in that . Miss you Jim.
Wow that song with Robin really hit me hard I miss those days of just living life following the flow of the breeze not giving a care about anything other than the moment Man I miss jon
My family and I loved John Denver and his music. He is genuinely great to listen and had a heavenly listen anyone could enjoy. I also grew up with the Muppets (primarily the 2011 movie) and were very charming to my childhood and I still watch them as a teen. I grew up watching this as a kid with a dvd my parents gave me and I LOVED it. I have a soft spot for this in general and is underrated and just fun to watch for all ages if you like John Denver the Muppets or both!
I haven't seen this one before. It's great!😂👍 I loved that Statler and Waldorf are still there to heckle the muppets. When I was little I never understood why those old guys were there.😂 Now I love them😂❤ I love the rest of the muppets too of course!😂❤
I've just watched this, so good, great for the kids to watch even in this time 2022.Poems Prayers and Promises has such lovely lyrics..even saying My soul will be in these mountains..well he certainly is..his Happy place.
RIP and long live John Denver (December 31, 1943 - October 12, 1997; aged 53) You will always be remembered as a legendary actor and singer-songwriter, just like Bette Midler. RIP Jim Henson (September 24, 1936 - May 16, 1990; aged 53) You will always be remembered as a legendary puppeteer, director, and producer, just like Frank Oz. NOTE: Both John Denver and Jim Henson died at 53, but they died different ways. Denver was killed in a plane crash in October 1997 and Henson passed away from bacterial pneumonia in May 1990.
There was a scene in which Denver and Rowlf went on plane ride. It was shown in the original broadcast. The scene was removed from the home video release in 2003, out of respect for Denver who died in a plane crash.
Remembered watching this as a kid and flash backed to my dad running over and thumping me on the head for not hearing him say turn that crap off. I still love this stuff thanks for finding it.
That's too bad. My dad bought the cassette soundtrack and we listened to it on our camping vacations out west all through my high school years (along with all the rest of JDs music). This brought back great memories 🙂.
This show was just as good as their Christmas special.........great and I wonder where it was filmed at and I know it couldn't be way out in the boonies
Back in 1984 I bought a tape of this songs in Jakarta. I really enjoyed the songs, especially Will I Ever Catch Another Butterfly and also Home on the Range; and of course the legendary Poems. Prayers and Promises. It reminds me of my childhood, indeed. This is the movie that all kids should watch.Very educational. Thanks for uploading it.

31st December 2023 - Today would've marked John Denver's 80th birthday (may he rest in peace).
This is what TV shows are meant to be like
Your right ❤️
AMEN
Yeah it is
Both John and Jim Henson were great together. I'm sure if both were alive today they'd continue to team up John's music with the muppets
This is really beyond cute.

I love how Kermit gets all jealous over John and piggy
Now I don't hate Kermit/Miss Piggy's relationship, but I'm a little upset that they killed it in the ABC Muppets series.
Oh yeah, that's one heck of a jealous pig and vein as well
23:58 24:00 piggy poo 💩💩 😂😂😆😂🤣🤣

Wow! Great quality! Does not look like 1983!
Grandmas feather bed was previously sung when John Denver was guest starring on the Muppet Show.

At 41:00 one of the best poems and prayers and promises I've heard him sing... so pretty.
The Muppets play their instruments lefty so the string neck won’t interfere with the puppeteers right hand!!
