for anyone who's confused, the purpose of the reference to a light in a cave at 2:00 is a very famous philosophical exercise: Plato's Allegory of the Cave, to represent someone who had no idea there was any higher meaning to their existence than what they've seen, living their whole life in a cave, seeing only shadows and thinking the shadows are real. Until they finally saw the light, which was blinding at first, but opened their eyes to reality in a way such that they can never go back to only seeing shadows. It really has nothing to do with rope, but these sins are often intentionally ignorant... unless this narrator lives in a cave, seeing only shadows of pop culture references 🤯

2:31 you...do realize Shawn is saying this because he knows Michael’s plan is falling apart, right? Michael and Shawn can still hear them through the “barrier” separating the bedroom from the living room, so when did Eleanor have the chance to tell Chidi? 4:13 except...they ARE in the Bad Place. Sure, it’s not “as bad” as the normal torture part but it’s still torture. The ENTIRE POINT is that this is a more painful effective form of torture. And the fact that Eleanor DIDN’T take the offer fits with her stubbornness and determination 4:42 you...do realize the ban is part of the torture, right? Eleanor was repeatedly frustrated at how she couldn’t properly swear 5:07 ...they are. This moment proves that, and Season 2 continues proving it 5:24 INTERNAL misery. They thought they were in the Good Place, remember? Eleanor outlined how this worked just a few mins ago 5:51 yeah...exactly. Shawn’s estimate is pretty reasonable 6:36 did...did you expect him to be good at this stage? He literally came up with this plan to TORTURE them! He doesn’t really get to know them yet because he doesn’t need to! The team-up is NEXT season, Jeremy! 6:44 don’t you hear his voice and see his face? He’s basically laughing at Michael’s desperation! He knows this plan is doomed to fail, it’s just a question of when. It’s called schadenfreude 6:48 it’s...literally just while she’s getting used to the feeling of holding the paper in her mouth. She can still talk normally next season before giving Eleanor the note 7:06 because she only had a few seconds and knew that finding Chidi was the only way to get anything meaningful done and catch Eleanor’s interest? This show has been the best show ever made! It ended each episode with a cliff hanger, it had so much hillarious moments. And then it ended fucking emotional, so amazing :D
This is a lot of stretching for sins since there is a purpose to everything in the show from furniture to movement to character choices. I love this show so much.
Most of these sins only make sense if you've never seen the show. The crappy furniture is SUPPOSED to be crappy! Yes, they establish that the demons get cues and improvise (and Vicky even more so). And Shawn IS just taunting Michael, it's pretty much the basis of their relationship. Also, the show DOES tell you about the portals behind the safe doors (eventually). But, yeah, I would give it the same number of sins just for calling the hallway a "conference room," 'cause FORK those people that hold even part of their meetings in the common areas of the building.
Honestly I think she did it that way because if she knew immediately she was in the Bad Place Michael would likely find out and just reset her again. This way she has a tendril to follow that won't look directly suspicious to the demons.
Constant torture was how the Bad Place already functioned. Creating a fantasy filled with little things to cause them self-induced misery for eternity was the point of Michael's experiment. The absence of any reprieve works against them making their own enduring stress and frustration. You could try and "No Exit" it in a purer sense by just locking them in a room, but that'd probably burn out even faster.
I’m not a bad person. I just made the mistake of taking a technical drafting course where they forever altered my handwriting to look exactly like Michael’s. So I’m gonna have to ask you to remove a sin for accurate architect handwriting.
2:56 actual architects are trained to write with a a very specific kind of hand writing which is all shockingly similar to one another. I think that’s what they’re playing on when Michael is writing out his plans.

I mean. Technically since jannet can bring anything To any one of the demons the sin still stands .....cuz if you had someone Who could make anything Chances are one of those 300 demons will call her for something
@@CalamariZander First no...
Second no
Yeah sure, demons can ask her for things, but they can't really ask for what they like because those petitions would be weird, wich is shown in season 2, they also have restaurants and stores around the whole town, and they don't really need to eat since they feed from the emotions of the humans.
Also, during the series Janet takes herself offline every now and then and there isn't really so much of a problem.
3:47 if you know the twist you know theres no one else in "The Good Place" besides these 4 - there's no one else Janet needs to worry about
"what does the date 00 even mean?"
jeremy bearimy obviously
I watched this episode the day it came out and have made it a point for people not to know the twist when I recommend the show to them
anyone who has read Sartre's No Exit knew the twist right away
@@johanvajse8410 yet there is not one person who put that theory on the internet !
I'm the 1st, really? wow
You know, the first time you reviewed The Good Place, you got me hooked on it. Now, I want to rewatch it.
1:08 yes.. yes it will. That's the portal to the neutreal zone where "The Judge" lives
04:18 You should be removing a sin for Ted Danson’s cackle. He’s forkin’ adorable, and yes I’m aware that I’m using adorable to describe a then 69 year old (at time of airing) man!
Nice
3:30 ummm you realize that if you can't say that you know the twist in the beginning of the video yet call bullshirt in Janet being their with the only four humans in the good place and acknowledging the other deamons as human.
I’m really trying to like this review but I seriously can’t stand someone asking questions about a show they obviously didn’t watch...it hurts my insides.
Brandon Gerson I agree. Someone sent this to me, assuming I’d enjoy it, I think, but instead it just made me cranky. I’ve enjoyed plenty of other sins videos but this didn’t do it for me.
I thought he says he did watch it?
Your first mistake was thinking these are actually reviews. It should be obvious within the first 30 seconds when he talks about swinging dicks and flinging balls that these aren't meant to be taken all that seriously.
he has watched it, he watches everything he "reviews". my guess is he watched it when it came out. and it's not a real review, he's been nitpicky and a dick on purpose
How do you people STILL not get CinemaSins in 2020
I forking loved this show and miss it already❤️
me too

Most of the things you said have been answered during the show
This, I refuse to believe he watched the show, and if he did he missed most of it
@@pc.raahauge When he sinned the first episode he made it clear he had seen the whole show. Then he sinned things only a first time viewer would question. Jeremy feigns ignorance cliché
And now.. time to drop my eyes to the comments, or as I call it.. The Bad Place.
I'm so glad that you gave a sin off for the reveal. It's a really powerful moment and one of the best evil laughs ever delivered
no one ruined the good place for me. i was lucky enough to be introduced to it fresh and enjoy that sweet twist
...do they not know the cave allegory?
for anyone who's confused, the purpose of the reference to a light in a cave at 2:00 is a very famous philosophical exercise: Plato's Allegory of the Cave, to represent someone who had no idea there was any higher meaning to their existence than what they've seen, living their whole life in a cave, seeing only shadows and thinking the shadows are real.
Thank you! I was so annoyed that he didn't get the reference when it was such a heartfelt line!
I feel like half the sins are explained pretty easily: ITS THE BAD PLACE
Michael's evil laugh is so priceless though
If it’s not the Good Place, keeping the curse ban is more torturous for Eleanor.
4:45 Mate they won't lift the curse ban BECAUSE IT'S PART OF THE TORTURE
The torture was already revelaed at this point ....context is really important pal

Sin 19: She can go to the bad place, we’ve seen her there multiple times (also she’s technically in it the whole, first season). She CANT, however, visit Jason while he’s being eternally tortured
I am really glad I missed that spoiler before binging this show on Netflix. I mean I knew since the beginning there had to be a twist at some point. Since the show would have been over if not. However the way they did this was great. Then the redemption arc, beautiful. Now just waiting to see how it all ends after the latest season gets up on Netflix.
i never knew why "not now, bambhajan" never became a meme
"Lift the curse ban" then proceeds to bleep out swears
that's youtube policy
They use human bodies so they can better understand how to torture humans, it’s literally explained in the show!
Thats not what he said tho ...he said why do they wear it next to other demons
@@CalamariZanderit’s because they want to know how best to torture humans. Wearing human bodies lets them figure out what hurts us, where our most sensitive parts are. If that’s their purpose, why wouldn’t they wear their human bodies around other demons? The sin would make sense if the purpose of wearing human bodies was to blend in with humans, but it isn’t. The sin is invalid.
@@jamesmorriscreations ...its multipurposed.... It helps Them Blend in, it allows the ones whose body are to big to comfortably fit in places...... But they wouldn't wear the suits all the time just cuz they want to know where our sensitive spots are ....
@@CalamariZander they don’t have to, but it makes sense for them to, for the same reason as some actors go fully Method: thoroughness and dedication. They want to know all about the human body and what makes it tick, and the most effective way to do that is to wear one at all times.
@@jamesmorriscreations but would all of them? ...you gotta admit theres always those couple that just couldnt care less

I don't believe the scriptwriters had established the concept of Jeremy Bearimy yet.
I screamed for 5 straight minutes after that laugh. My neighbors came to check on me thinking I’d been murdered
I went from binge watching Brooklyn 99 to binge watching this show and seeing Marc Evan Jackson (Shawn/Senior architect/Boss) in this show and Kevin Cozner (Captain Raymond Holts husband) in Brooklyn 99 was really jarring. Especially since the characters act very alike.
Even though one is a demon
Lots of the gripes and "sins" are addressed in future episodes, such as why Janet isnt needed by the good place residents - there's multiple Janet's
I think the "bothersome place" is based on Jean-Paul Sartre's idea of hell in Huis Clos.
"L'enfer c'est les autres".
i cried watching the finale. this is such a great show.
Ok, I have tried to give Jeremy the benefit of the doubt from many sins videos. I have been a fan for years & enjoyed the content however this was lacking. I’m sorry but this my opinion on it.
2:31 you...do realize Shawn is saying this because he knows Michael’s plan is falling apart, right? This conversation serves its purpose, to scare Michael
3:24 it’s short-lived and is literally supposed to be Chidi’s torture. That’s the point!
3:57 Plenty of time? Michael and Shawn can still hear them through the “barrier” separating the bedroom from the living room, so when did Eleanor have the chance to tell Chidi?
4:13 except...they ARE in the Bad Place. Sure, it’s not “as bad” as the normal torture part but it’s still torture. The ENTIRE POINT is that this is a more painful effective form of torture. And the fact that Eleanor DIDN’T take the offer fits with her stubbornness and determination
4:42 you...do realize the ban is part of the torture, right? Eleanor was repeatedly frustrated at how she couldn’t properly swear
5:07 ...they are. This moment proves that, and Season 2 continues proving it
5:24 INTERNAL misery. They thought they were in the Good Place, remember? Eleanor outlined how this worked just a few mins ago
5:51 yeah...exactly. It’s new and different, and it’s cocky of Michael to claim it’ll be SO successful when they’ve never done it before. Shawn’s estimate is pretty reasonable
6:36 did...did you expect him to be good at this stage? He literally came up with this plan to TORTURE them! He doesn’t really get to know them yet because he doesn’t need to! The team-up is NEXT season, Jeremy!
6:44 don’t you hear his voice and see his face? He’s basically laughing at Michael’s desperation! He knows this plan is doomed to fail, it’s just a question of when. It’s called schadenfreude
6:48 it’s...literally just while she’s getting used to the feeling of holding the paper in her mouth. She can still talk normally next season before giving Eleanor the note
7:06 because she only had a few seconds and knew that finding Chidi was the only way to get anything meaningful done and catch Eleanor’s interest? Just saying “this is hell” would mean nothing; Eleanor would just throw the paper away and not think about it
I started watching this show because of you guys. It's worth it. Knowing the twist doesn't make it any less good.
That laugh at 4:19 is so perfectly evil!
If Chidi were a harness and rope, then it wouldn't be referencing the allegory of the cave
I‘m gonna miss the good place so much... but I loved the ending!
I never saw the twist coming and I loved it! Reminds me of one of my favorite twilight zone episodes
This show has been the best show ever made! It ended each episode with a cliff hanger, it had so much hillarious moments. And then it ended fucking emotional, so amazing :D
Alternative title: TVSins low-key loving The Good Place for almost eight minutes straight.
This is a lot of stretching for sins since there is a purpose to everything in the show from furniture to movement to character choices. I love this show so much.
@4:40
How you lose a sin: a good twist
How you gain a sin: house cats
Michael literally had nothing to fear with explaining his plan, he can erase memories with a snap
1:04 that's the portal that they take to the judge, if I'm not mistaken
Most of these sins only make sense if you've never seen the show. The crappy furniture is SUPPOSED to be crappy! Yes, they establish that the demons get cues and improvise (and Vicky even more so). And Shawn IS just taunting Michael, it's pretty much the basis of their relationship. Also, the show DOES tell you about the portals behind the safe doors (eventually). But, yeah, I would give it the same number of sins just for calling the hallway a "conference room," 'cause FORK those people that hold even part of their meetings in the common areas of the building.
"What's inside the vault?"
That's the portal to the judge
the vault is the doorway to the judges office
I remember when i watched this, i thought eleanor had written that they were in the bad place- BUT WHEN SHE DIDNT I SCREAMED
Honestly I think she did it that way because if she knew immediately she was in the Bad Place Michael would likely find out and just reset her again. This way she has a tendril to follow that won't look directly suspicious to the demons.
@@johnclifford369 yeah yeah, i realized that when i stopped to wonder why she wrote that, it makes sense...
I gotta ask you guys put episode numbers in these descriptions because I came straight here too soon lol

Nooo! The House Cats scene should have also removed a sin.
I love how half the sins in the show are completely intentional because the show of amazing
I don't know why, but I lost it on the "They should have smelled what The Rock was cooking" bit 😆
Very in line with the show too
that vault goes to the judges realm;;
I need to rewatch this whole series
Constant torture was how the Bad Place already functioned.
Creating a fantasy filled with little things to cause them self-induced misery for eternity was the point of Michael's experiment. The absence of any reprieve works against them making their own enduring stress and frustration.
You could try and "No Exit" it in a purer sense by just locking them in a room, but that'd probably burn out even faster.
1:24 - I completely forgot Jason said this. This has to be his most insightful phrase ever!
Jason had some of the show's most incredible moments of fridge brilliance.
Sin 6:The guy who plays Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) makes amazing tables exactly like this.
I’m not a bad person. I just made the mistake of taking a technical drafting course where they forever altered my handwriting to look exactly like Michael’s. So I’m gonna have to ask you to remove a sin for accurate architect handwriting.
"The show wont forking tell me!" Hmmmm, just wait until it actually tells you
01:37 actually yes, your channel was a major distraction from my depressions, way better than alcohol or stuff, so yes you adding a lot of positivity
2:56 actual architects are trained to write with a a very specific kind of hand writing which is all shockingly similar to one another. I think that’s what they’re playing on when Michael is writing out his plans.
the flashlight in the cave was a reference to plato in the republic... like the whole point was to talk about what chidi brought her and how now she saw the light (the truth for plato) hence him being the flashlight
This is the earliest i've ever been, and i'm, somehow, still late.
My mom is a Structural Engineer and I can confirm that engineers/architects do have this level of annoyingly perfect handwriting.
Calling shenanigans on the sin at 5:22. That's literally the whole point, that's why the test keeps failing.
