My husband is a fireman, and he's been working a double fatality accident all morning and called to tell me about it, I said a prayer and returned to watching you guys. I doubt that you know how much peace you bring to various lives that are quite different from family to family. Life is so fragile, and the bright spots are even more precious for many reasons, I'm here to remind you, yet again, just how important you are in this world. ❤️

Thank you. This was extremely helpful. I’ve read countless articles about how to care for the blackberries and raspberries I impulsively purchased last year. This made all that information make sense. I’m definitely a visual learner. 😂 the number of times over said “oooooooohhhhh. Okay. I get it now” watching your videos is immeasurable. ❤😊

I saw all those willow branches coiled in the back of the gator and thought “what could we do with those”? This past fall during a hurricane a neighbours willow tree fell into my yard. I was upset at the time but when I had it cut down I saved a bunch of the branches that fit perfectly into the Christmas decor I was planning. I call that a serendipitous calamity!!

Hi Laura, one question, one observation: You said that if you cut the plants all the way down, you sacrifice some fruit for the season. Surely, if you do that every year, you're never going to have maximum yield? Also, I must have a very old/weird variety of blackberry, because the canes never stop bearing fruit. I only trim back canes that hang over the lawn, preventing us from mowing. We get a massive haul each year, all from one plant. I'm not complaining :-)

Hi Laura. My wife and I enjoy your videos and they have sparked many ideas and conversations, so thank you. We were discussing the suckers on Raspberry plants and wondered if we could bury (or mostly bury) a large, metal, bottomless trough to better contain the suckers. (Troughs like your blueberry troughs). This is an official entry in you new WWLD series. (What Would Laura Do).

I love blackberries. My grandparents had them growing wild along a fence line on their farm. Every time I visited them in the summer when I was a kid, I would pick a dishpan full so my grandma could bake me a cobbler. Now I have my own blackberry bushes of the Triple Crown variety. Mine also hang onto leaves each year. I’ve had no issues with them.

I’m so happy that you live in an area where you can get out there and do some cleanup in the gardens. Here in north Iowa, we just got more snow, a little over 5”. It’s getting nicer everyday, so it will only be a few weeks before I can get out there and clean up mine. We had 3 diseased trees taken out last fall and it damaged some of my flower beds, so I have some moving around of things to make it look better. I love your suggestion on flowers. I live in zone 5 and have a lot of shade. I’m planting hostas, but have lots of deer in my yard, so I’ll be looking for more deer resistant perennials to plant for shade. If I start spraying with deer spray early, it usually helps, but they still eat some of them. I love watching them and if they start eating on them, I send my little dogs out to bark at them. If your seeing a few rabbits, beware, they multiply really fast and you’ve got what they like. Lol.

Is it possible to weave a basket from willow whips? I attempted to do some thing with my thornless blackberries yesterday and just tucked them into the fence as I had no clue. Thanks for the timely clue-ing and so GLAD I didn't trim them down.I found the one potted raspberry dead looking and pulled it up from the earth bag to find it was two plants and roots looked good. So I stuck each one into it's own root bag and trimmed the top off - lucky accident to have done something right. Hopefully. Have no idea what kind any of the bushes are - big mistake.

    Hi Laura,
Are you gonna start the composting process this year because you are getting a lot of corbon material these days.
