    After watching your video and doing some research I was going to order two white boars and realized that this company is literally down the street from me 🤣. Couple hours later I have two magnetic white boards hanging in my house. Installing them was super easy especially second one. Thanks for the video.

    Question about these boards. I just watched someone do a review on the Quartet glass boards. They said that after 2yrs of use when they wipe the markers off it smudges really bad. In fact they demonstrated it. When they sprayed the glass and wiped it the marker that had been on the board for a couple weeks smeared all over. You could see the marker come off but it left a really greasy mess that took a lot of work to clean up. Before they used liquid they used a dry paper towel to demonstrate how hard it was to wipe the marker off. The marker did not come off very well until they sprayed liquid and the info I said above was what he demonstrated after that. How do you feel about the glass boards and have you used for any length of time to see if they still do well after a year or so? What markers do you use? What do you clean the boards with? Also I saw you tell someone what type of magnets to use for the board. That link didn’t work anymore. Thanks for answering all my questions.

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We've owned one board for two years and have not seen this issue. Just guessing, but it could be the brand of marker that's an issue. We've only used Quartet markers because the colors are great so that could be a factor. As for day-to-day cleaning, we just use a standard dry eraser. Every couple of months or so we will wipe down the board with Windex and a paper towel because we will get specks of ink that don't want to come off easily. One (or both) of those things could be why we haven't had an issue. As for the magnets, here are the ones that we use and they work great: amzn.to/34YXql6 Thanks!

    • @carsutube
      @carsutube 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Top Homeowner thank you. Yea I looked at the price points between the 2 brands Audio Visual & Quartet and Audio Visual is priced better. As for the markers do you use the bullet tip, chisel tip, or fine tip? Also are you using the Quartet eraser or something like that. Thanks again

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use all types of marker tips, depending on what is being wrote down. For our calendar we use fine or chisel. Grocery lists/to-dos we lean toward bullet, mainly because our children round off the points when they use them.
      For our office white board we use the Quartet magnetic eraser amzn.to/2Y6JEeT
      In the kitchen where we have our frosted non-magnetic board we just use a dry washcloth or towel...again kids play a factor in this because I'm sure it would be like the remote and walk off ;)

    fantastic instructional video! I found it odd that the template doesn't have pre-marked/"drilled" holes and you have to go to the process of putting the glass board over the template to mark the holes which is one more step for potential error?
    at any rate really good video!

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I thought the same thing. It would have been nice for the template to already have the marks but I'm sure it was cheaper just to include a plain template.

    • @BeastMortThe
      @BeastMortThe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More like a double chance of having issues. You got to line up the template perfectly and then the marked holes are of course not the size of the drill bit needed... so now ya have to place a dot as close to center on each of those marked circles and pray it's all not off by too much or you're poop out of luck.

    Did you drill into the studs? And install the anchors in them as well?

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The studs didn't line-up for this install, so we just used the wall anchors into drywall. If I would have been able to attach to a stud (or two), I would have only had to drill a smaller pilot hole into the stud and not use an anchor for those screws. Hope that helps!

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it looks like it is. I was able to find their installation instructions and the mounts look very similar. One difference I noticed is that they don't include a cardboard template. It looks like you have to hold the glass to the wall and mark the hole locations. • @zoalord12

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll need a drill bit and drill to make the holes. If you are attaching to studs in the wall, you'll just need the driver or you can use the drill itself with a screw bit. Hope that helps. I found this video that does a great job of explaining drill basics if you have more questions: th-cam.com/video/k7Al6KLUF_o/w-d-xo.html

    What size drill did you use before installing the anchors.?

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can't find the instructions and I don't remember exactly. I do have some other packaged hardware that's similar though. Toggler Alligator AF6 geni.us/8nsBYS . For Drywall only, the plastic anchors need a 1/4" bit. If you're drilling directly into a stud (no anchor), the bit needs to be a lot smaller. You'll want to just make a pilot hole and I use a 7/64" bit since you want to leave enough material for the screw to grip the wood stud, but also not split it. Hope this helps!

    Hi, I have a question. The one you have by the kitchen is the one that I bought so does it have to be on a stud? Mine is 40 lbs 4’ x 3’. Will it be safe to just install on the dry wall? I never installed anything on my walls besides clocks or pictures so I have no idea here. If you or anyone can guide me here, that’ll be great!
    Thank you!

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The wall anchors are rated to hold around 50+lbs each. With 6 holes on the 4x3 board it should be fine. That said, if you can attach at least one side to a stud that would give you the most secure mount.

      You'll want to pick magnets that use neodymium or "rare earth" magnets which are the strongest you can get. I found these on Amazon that should work, but I haven't tried them personally: geni.us/sYtBGRl. It should give you a good idea of what to look for at least!

    Do led light strips illuminate the board?

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I wasn't sure so I took some of mine and tried it. Since the back is solid metal on the magnetic board, light can't shine through. I tried lighting the edge but I couldn't make that work very well either. The frosted one is a little too transparent and you see the lights pretty clearly so they are too bright. You might be able to mount the strips to the back of the frosted board and light up the wall, but you'd see the strips on the back. I hope that answers your question!

  • @BeastMortThe
    @BeastMortThe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm totally lost installing the one I got through Amazon. So I ordered the Clear: 3 ft x 2 ft and I marked off the template... but then how are you marking the center of the hole? This is where the process would be easier and less of a chance to make a mistake if they'ed just given a premarked template. Am I supposed to just eyeball the center of each circle I outlined?

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you have to eyeball it. I totally agree a marked template would be much better.

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since it's glass, it reflects light differently than a flat surface would. Even when using markers you can see a slight shadow so I don't think it would look very good as a projector screen. I'd either stick to a regular projector screen or even a white wall instead.
