This video highlights well the difference between being a dandy and being a gentleman. Dandy's are obsessed with personal elegance and because of their constant preening and obsession with the self they often miss the obvious that makes them prone to sartorial faux pas like wearing a tie pin with a waistcoat and keeping their hats on indoors a la Dandy Wellington. Gentleman on the other hand are obsessed with personal development and, building their character and becoming better human beings - dressing well plays a but a part of that.
I thought the stripped suit and stripped shirt was a mistake: it created a joust for supremacy. He could have used the shirt to tone it down and make the outfit more classic. Having said that, I do appreciate that his ensemble was deliberate.
I love clothes and have a wardrobe to prove it. I enjoy dressing well, which for me is a way of life. I’ve been called a dandy at work. I don’t know if it’s true but I don’t do anything to quell saying. I travel extensive (50% of the time) both international and domestically. When I’m in Europe I’m reminded how bad Americans men dress. This is especially true in the United States. I have my own opinion but would enjoy hearing what other people think.
To say that the average man "doesn't care" is an unfair statement, maybe he should have said most people can't afford it. I am willing to dress this way when my income increases
+Monster Gamer But thats the point... Didnt you hear the one guy "even if they were on an island they would have fishbone tie pins..." So For example these guys would rather spend on clothes and polished appearance then other things that you or others personally feel the need to spend alot on. Even if you were poor you would find a way.
I'm a dandy on a budget and I manage to find things that suit my style by looking in my local op-shops... they are a treasure trove of fashion opportunities... most of the time, I'll find something that looks 80% decent, and will have to make some adjustments/alterations by hand to get it there myself, so that it fits my body perfectly. Having a keen eye and an able hand with a needle and thread can work wonders for the look and for the soul. ^_^
@@getmoney101ify Exactly. I am wearing 4 pieces from Amazon, it cost me a total of $80. I bought them at different times, free shipping. It's called building up your wardrobe. It's really inexpensive, people are just lazy and don't want to take the time to dress up. Where people spend their money on cigarettes, electronics, game tickets, I spend money on vintage inspired and vintage clothing and antiques. It's about where you put your money at.
There are no more dandy’s. It was something that took place in British and French culture 100 of years ago. Men who didn’t work and was very egotistical as well as elegant.
I heard P Diddy was a dandy during high school. In the early days of Bad Boy he was wearing casual wear to prove he was street. Later, during 2000 he came back to being dandy. I saw him in suits, fur coats etc.
Sorry, but that kind of fashion is outdated. There is no way you will ever make me wear a silly hat, a dorky bow, a clown's flower and a cane on the streets! A nice suit with style YES!
Imagine if we all dressed like dandies, it'd be a great place to live in.
it'll be just like the classic victorian era. everyone is fashionable.
Very expensive in these times. This why u see workout clothes most of 99% of the time
Who doesn't love a well dressed man ?! So elegant!
I like these types of clothes, reminds me of my grandparents during the 30's. This guy resembles Clark Gable.
I loved this book. Elegant, well dressed men. 😁

Dandy Wellington. Prefect name. Perfect look.
Fish-bone as a tie-pin....Mmmm, that's worth thinking about...
I’ve been following him for a while. Such fun to see his creativity.
I've been labelled eccentric, a dandy...But why? This is my own unique fashion and I don't follow any rules so why do I need a label? :P
He looks amazing I wish I could afford this clothing !
I definitely LOOOVED this!!! :)
he looks really classy tbh. people are just hating. money being spent on these kinds of clothes worth more than t shirts with supreme or gucci on it
That lawyer is the best form of a dandy, eccentric but still Masculine

Well, this is now officially a fetish of mine
This host was on MTV when I was growing up. Ah, memories.
I hope we can get out someday and show our dandy colors!
🥂 cheers to my fellow dandies
I adore Dandy!!!!!
Hello? i just fell in love omg!!!!!!
The Lotus Eaters speak like Dandys
The guy being interviewed looks just like my father from Europe did when he was alive.

YOu don't have to spend money on an expensive bespoke suit to look decent before leaving the house.

Modern dandies are Jaden Smith and Harry styles. old legends that were dandies are David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Prince, and Freddie Mercury.
Is David Beckham a Dandy?

personality!
What's the difference between the classic and the vintage I am serious
+American Vintage Clothiers :-)
A classic are things that people use over a long time like undying trends, while vintage is one of a kind.
Wait a minute, he dresses exactly like Edwin Guerre from head to toe and it's kinda crazy.....lol
So no wearing baggy pants that are falling off?
There are no rules in fashion.
I Wonder if he has got a wife, she would have to dress like him and the kids.
hat on indoors. Not Good
Yep. Etiquette and Fashion rule.

Thank u for saying this. Means i am not the only one who thinks that way 😁
Their clothes dont make them attractive - for me. They look outdated.
I'd find it hard to believe in a black guy wearing a waistcoat and tweed cap. It's jarring.
kafenwar
These guys look like twats.
No, they're not wearing kilts.
On second thought, I see what you mean!
Why is it jarring? Frederick Douglas wore waist coats before a lot of white guys my friend.
TheRhythmReview
It looks ridiculous.
