    Thanks so much shooting the Revival Drive against the Deluxe 55 Alex! Awesome playing as always. One note of caution before everyone draws their final conclusion about this particular shoot out: I have both the regular and custom full sized Revival drive, and the custom panel (which only works when the pedal is placed in EQ 2 mode, meaning into a darker amp) did let me dial back the brightness following the Twin Tweed formula from the manual - the big screw dial in the middle of the custom panel was key. I have more tone chasing to do with these settings. I hope you upgrade your power supply soon!..

      That is cool. Is the Hot Rod worth it? What does it do that you can’t? Whatever that is, would you use it?

    • @focusonjunta
      @focusonjunta หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Erik, I do not own the full sized hot rod - I wish I did! Why do not I buy the compact? The full sized Revival drives have a dip-switch that allows you to have the ‘preamp’ on all the time even when the pedal is off- and that is key to playing super high gain pedals or fuzz pedals into the Revival drive when going direct.
      If I could find a ‘custom hot-rod Revival drive’ I would definitely get it!

  • @slideguitarist

    Splendid job Alex! This video was a welcome tasty-tone break in my day. You really dialed in great sounds on each Origin Effects model, and your playing perfectly complimented them. I really like the Revival Trem/61 with the brownface IR. But I have a soft spot for the Revival Drive into a Marshall 4x12 IR. More than any other channel, your demos have exposed me to the wonders of Origin Effects and Strymon gear--the pinnacle of great pedals. Both companies produce gear that give great returns on one's investment. If used correctly, these stomps level up a player's tone.

    Deluxe61 is the one, to my ears. All the tone, but without all the "stuff" of the custom which detracts from just playing your dang guitar. And you get a phenomenal trem as well! The 55 sounds good too but if I had to have one, it's the 61 all day.

      I can do a video in the future using room reverb and use without it. I almost always use a stereo room reverb in my guitar tracks, even my miced amps. It just gives a great feel to everything. I’ve noticed when I had videos that were really dry or mostly dry that people did not enjoy the tones as much bc it sounds very unnatural.

  • @GuyNarnarian

    They all sound great. The Revival 61' and the Magma 57' are definitely serious amp in a box pedals. I'd have to see more of the Revival drive that has more amps to see what that can really do. All these probably sound best through the effects return or power amp if you can't go direct.

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes in the FI return is ideal but in front works really well bc of how much you can change the eq filtering in the pedal too. Esp the revival drive which has all sorts of ways to compensate. But the deluxe61 and magma are really magical.

    Nice demo, I appreciate seeing the whole lineup, but I wish you would have tried tweaking the TONE on the Magma to match the Tweed. I think it probably gets pretty close pointed more to the left. Maybe a follow-up with those two? I think a lot of tweed fans will be debating between those two.

    Shelving EQ rolled off on the Revival Drive but the Bright Cap Cut isn’t engaged at all.
    I discovered by accident that the BCC still affects the sound even with no bright cap engaged. That goes some way towards explaining why the RD was brighter than the Deluxe55.
    Also the shelving EQ is flat at 12 o’clock.
    My personal preference when using the RD with an IR is to roll the BCC all the way to the right, and vary between 11 and 1 on the shelving EQ depending on what I am after.

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You just blew my mind! I was wondering why it was so hard to dial it in and the bcc was the reason my shelf was rolled back. Just went back to it and there was way more body. Thank you for letting me know. Going to add a slight retraction in the info and the comments. Also will do a small video update bc I had no idea. Is it even in the manual?
      Also my normal power supply is bolted to my main pedalboard which is used for another video so just threw this one together haha.

      @colmkelly5524 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ It’s not really in the manual.
      Also, if you are doing another video, it would be good to show the mid controls in action. I find mid level at 11 and mid freq somewhere between 11 and 2 to be the sweet spot. I think it’s a must to have the mid controls engaged all the time.

    @J1JL หลายเดือนก่อน

    The revivaldrive is my favorite overdrive pedal. With a boost pedal in front and the blend and mid footswitch is so versatile.
    Do you have tips for using the dry gain and blend control? I now have the dry gain full up and blend 50/50, half up. When I hit the blend switch its 100% drive and no clean blended in. But live that sound gets lost easier in the mix than the blended clean/drive sound.
    How do you use this?

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found the clarity problem live as well and usually I back the gain off on the pedal and it returns. Also the RD doesn’t really work as a boost but as a front end simulation so if I want to boost volume I would do that w a boost pre RD. There are a lot of tricky ways to sculpt the tone mid boost on all the time is key and the bright cap cut / hi shelf are a delicate balance as well. Basically once I have my desired sound in my head I then model it via preamp switches and presence and then adjust bcc and shelf until it sounds right from the amp.
