Like most things, it comes down to money. A lot of those kids come from lower class families and it cost a lot money to have your kid in an academy. Travel expenses, commuting to practice, etc.
@@messifan1910 really? You would think academies would have set ups and be relatively free for players. Getting seen I know is difficult with US pay to play system and fairly poor scouting by MLS teams.
@@messifan1910 theres a lot of kids like that in the academy today. I honestly think the problem was simply getting the best players in the area funneled into their program regardless of where they come from. Now they are doing a better job

Many lower income parents aren't aware of this and will typically stay away from academies for this reason. But all they have to do is ask and they'll get the help 100 percent.
