8th Avenue - 14th Street Bound (L) Subway Train
via Canarsie Local and 14th Street
The virtual New York City (L) subway line was first released in 2001 for BVE Trainsim 2. It has now been updated in 2014 to feature new tracks, signals, station and car graphics, etc. The new 2014 version of the (L) subway line also incorporates some of the newer features from OpenBVE such as exterior and interior views, brightness control, animated signs, and high quality graphics and sounds. The line will be worked on for the near future until it is ready for release to the public. For now enjoy the gameplay videos!
All aboard the virtual (L) subway line! Stretching from Canarsie through Williamsburg in Brooklyn and all the way to Chelsea in Manhattan, the solo (L) train is an integral part of the NYC Subway System.
The (L) subway line utilizes R143 and R160 subway cars to transport passengers each day, however with a twist. Each R143 and R160 car is equipped with the ability to run in a special "Autopilot" mode, allowing for the trains to move without the need for a human operator. Also known as CBTC, the (L) subway line can handle frequent train service and higher speeds than normal subway lines.
In this video, I will take control over a virtual (L) subway car for a ride between Canarsie Rockaway Parkway and 8th Avenue - 14th Street. The simulator is called OpenBVE and is available for download now!
