Regarding your LV bag, you could have it repaired by Beto Leatherworks located in VA. Steve has done a lot of amazing LV restorations that you can see on TH-cam to determine if he might be an option to you. That way, you could still keep your original bag that you love.
Have you considered reaching out to your contact at your old store regarding your pochette metis? I would try that if I were you. Just as a general rule for me, when LV offers to take the bag back, I always do it bc it wasn’t an easy decision for them financially (not just my bag but all PM or multicolor in the market etc) and you never know when they will change their policy. I hope you can get it resolved. Not just the money but this kind of thing leave a bad taste. Happy wishes!
I believe people were buying used bags with the goal to return in store and get full credit back. They would buy bags with known defects to profit from the "return".
I understand the position of LV. I have had 2 bags deemed defective and received credit for purchase price, no adjustment to current retail price. If someone can purchase used at a reduced price and then receive full credit that isn't fair that they would gain on their purchase. I understand more loyal treatment to the actual purchaser/customer. While I feel quality issues shouldn't happen, I am not aware of other companies who do as much as LV years later. In my state, car lemon laws only apply to original purchaser within a much shorter time period than LV has replaced defective items and a car is a much larger purchase. FWIW, I only purchase new from LV with hopes they may stand behind their product if there are issues and not tell me wear and tear.
I think the LV policy changed (or so I have been told) when the reselling business boomed. LV representative told me that because of this the company no longer will stand by the products that are resold. I actually respect that. The reasoning was that people buy bags at Goodwill or on eBay and then expect LV to honor the repair policy on bags that were definitely NOT loved just used.
I’ve heard of places that ask for receipts and others that don’t. You should try the customer service line or reach out to your old SA. They might help you out. Worst case, it’s a glazing issue so see if leather surgeons can reglaze. Hope it works out and please keep us updated! ❤❤❤
I agree with this! I reached out via the app to have glazing repaired on some straps that are known to have glazing issues and they accepted - I purchased this bag pre-loved as well and did not get asked for a receipt. I have also heard the “policy” varies by store
Maybe try a different LV store. Wonder if you might be able to contact the first store you took it to. I honestly feel it's different from individual manager to manager. You could also contact customer service via online/phone. Just some ideas. Hope all gets resolved.
I keep all my receipts even groceries. I need them in case proof of purchase is required. I keep them until I know I’m satisfied. This is a must in the U.K. I suggest if dealing with Fashionfile choose purchase with original receipt just to be safe in future. You never know❤️
There have been waayyyy too many problems with LV and their glazing! It scares me away from them for sure! Also Jennifer, their return and fixing policy seems to depend on the two people standing at the counter and their views at that moment! I bet if you went back to different people at either this counter or another LV store, you would get different responses each time.
When you said you were taking your bag to LV to see if they will replace it I thought, good luck with that. I bought a Pochette Métis in empriente in 2017/18 from the online store and when it was only a year old the leather started peeling off near one corner. I took it into LV and they said it was normal wear and tear and wouldn’t replace it. It’s not like any corner wear I have ever seen and the corners themselves are fine. It was only a year old, I had the receipt with my name on it and they still wouldn’t replace it. So it seems to me that they don’t stand by their products whether you buy them from the store or preloved so you may as well do as you please. I will be taking my bag to a leather surgeon as we have a really good one in Melbourne.
I have the Boulonge with black leather……I love it! Shoulder and crossbody it’s great. The chain is great as well. I cannot say enough of about this bag!
Something similar happened to me with LV, except I had receipt, original box, everything. I bought a new Marignan around 5 years ago in Chicago…loved it and everything was great with the bag until a few months in the microfiber lining started to smell…the only way I can describe it is a mildew musty odor. Very strong where other people can smell it if I carry it. Just terrible. When I used it it made my small leather goods smell as well. I didn’t do anything right away because I don’t live near a LV boutique and I was hopeful it would go away with time. I finally took it to LV in Nashville green hills and talked to manager and a sales associate…explained everything, never spilled anything in it, etc. They kept the bag and got back with me a couple of weeks later. I figured that would give me a new bag or give me a store credit for a bag…they’ve done that before with my neo noe that had glazing issues. They replaced the neo noe with a new one. I was prepared to buy a more expensive bag if they had offered a credit. But their response was I could replace the lining for around $1000 out of my pocket. That’s almost half the price of the bag new. I think it was $2200 -$2400 when I purchased it. It was definitely a flaw with the lining and they didn’t stand by their product. I thought about taking it to another boutique and try again, but not sure. I can’t use it and can’t sell it. I had sales receipt, box and everything. They said it was not a known issue with this bag and their policy does not allow for a replacement. I haven’t bought anything else from LV and probably won’t. Now I’m more into YSL, Gucci, and Celine. They lost a good customer and I’m sad about it. Sorry for the lengthy comment, but I’m sorry they did similar to you. If there is a quality issue, for that price bag, I think they should make it right with the customer. It’s not true if you buy new they take care of you…I’m proof of that.
Ironically I have noticed an odd smell with my pochette Métis too! No other bag has this weird smell, and I put silicone packets and air paper in them, very meticulous about caring for them.
@@362mslaura Mine is really sour and strong. If I try to carry it my husband can smell it-it’s so bad I just can’t use it. I’m sorry you have a similar issue.
My Marignan also has a slight but different smell that isn’t pleasant, I wonder if more people have noticed but not brought it to the attention of LV. I have an appointment schedule for a call with LV for a repair, I am definitely going to ask about the Marignan at that time.
@@luckatyPlease let me know what you find out. I just took mine into a second boutique in Dallas when we were there last weekend and they also sent it off. Just heard back today they are not going to repair or replace. I have receipts, box and everything and it is well taken care of in great condition except for odor. Ugh! Very disappointed in the brand…quality has gone down and they are not standing by their products. I’ve got my classic collection items from LV that I’ve purchased over the years, but not buying anything else.
I have never had a problem repairing a second hand item but only done it a couple times. One thing that has changed is the astronomical repair costs. Ex: speedy 35, they previously quoted me like $680 for all new leather, I decided to wait, a year later it had jumped to well over $1200. With a new zipper it would have been closer to like 1400. I found that ridiculous. It’s from my birth year and I always planned to have it re done, but now it’s too much! I love the pochette metis and I hope they help you. Following your repair saga!
I would say my grandmother gifted it to me and don’t know when she purchased it and she is dead. I mean, this is nuts. They should stand behind their merchandise. Even if I had to pay for it out of pocket.
Also, highly recommend the LV Boulogne in black. I got this last year. It's the perfect travel bag. As you said, not too big or small. Due to both straps, it goes day to night seamlessly. You can pack just this bag and be set. And you can use the straps on other bags as well. The adjustability of the leather strap is awesome too. Glad I got it.
I thought LV only had a one year warranty. They replaced my very 1st one when I had an issue with the zipper right under the one year mark. Another one had issues with the handles and they replaced those. They both happened under one year and had no issues with them taken care of. The glazing being gooey sounds like could be from heat or humidity. I can understand that they would only have a warranty for the original purchaser. I didn’t think they are marketed as lifetime warranties.
Thanks for all the LV info, good luck deciding what to do with the bag, can't imagine there is anything to do except trash it? ~ you look beautiful with your new earrings....so glad that worked out nicely, love the recipe story, lol. And that particular mall looks beautiful ! Enjoy the beautiful weather, such a mild winter up north.
Try contacting the pre-loved vendor and explain the bag is defective and LV is only asking for the name of the original purchaser to get the bag replaced. Ask them to kindly contact that person to make the request to vouch for the bag with LV. I don't see how that person would say no especially since you were a good customer to them. I wouldn't give up just yet. All you need is the name of the LV account they can verify in their system. Then they can replace the bag. Best of luck.
I'm on the side of LV with this: their guarantee is with the original purchaser of the item. A generous offer to replace was made in a timely manner and I've always wondered if Jennifer would ultimately regret not taking it.
I bought an LV bag about 10 years ago in Italy, also had problem with the glazing. Early 2023 took it to LV store in the mall here in the US, the sales woman said they can’t take it back or exchange, she said the store can try to send it back but no warranty and it will take 3 to 6 months. So spring 2023, I took it to LV store in Italy and had it exchange with different style. LV knows there was a floss with the glazing. LV needs to stand behind their product!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video as always.❤ And thanks for the LV info, that made me rethink about buying preloved as well. I do too usually love going the preloved route to find good deals. LV is one of my FAVORITE luxury fashion houses but gotta say I’m a little disappointed with their new policy …🤔
I’m so sorry this happened to you, that would be upsetting! Especially because you are honorable. If you think about it though, not everyone is as honest. Not only could bags have been stolen and resold (as happened to my sister in law), but some people buy them for considerably less on eBay and then return known defected bags to LV expecting to get a new one in return. I blame the depravity of morals for this situation. I really hate it for you though!🥺♥️♥️
Thanks for this video Jenifer! Great content and I love your earrings!! I love Fashionphile! Wow… very disappointing about LV. About 5 or so years ago, I received an LV Danube as a gift. It was a preloved bag. We are annual season pass holders for Disney World and I wanted a smaller crossbody to wear while visiting the parks. The bag was in perfect shape. However, I did want to replace the vachetta side tabs, they were starting to wear. I sent LV an email requesting what I wanted to do. They replied with requirements with what they needed to do this, which included many pictures of the bag. I did tell them that it was a gift and I didn’t have a receipt. They sent a confirmation letter/response that they would replace the side tabs and I had a certain amount of days to respond to their offer. Well life happens and I totally forgot and never got the side tabs replaced. My my, how things have changed!!!! And not in a good way!! Many of my LV bags are in great condition and are preloved. I plan on passing them down to my granddaughters. It’s sad that they won’t stand by their products any longer.
It depends on the location because I’ve taken soooo many preloved items in and had repairs done or gotten replacement parts and never had to show proof of purchase.
That such a bummer, that’s why I’ve always been weary of buying preloved. I always wondered what would happen if I needed something replaced on the bag ? I always thought the store wouldn’t repair it if bought pre-loved but now I know the answer 100%. Thank you for the video as I was going to throw away my receipts from my handbags, not anymore!!
To be clear, LV will repair any authentic bag (receipt or not) if it is able to be repaired. With an LV receipt, repairs are generally covered in the first year after purchase. Without a receipt, you can pay for the repair. The problem with my bag was a known manufacturing issue that LV decided to help with by replacing the bag. This started in 2019. So, if you buy preloved without an original receipt...you can generally still pay for a repairs. I offered to pay for this glazing repair and was told (I believe incorrectly) by the manager that it could not be repaired. I have and appointment on Friday with an LV customer care representative to see what can be done.
I’m guessing you got the Metis preloved because it was so hard to get, so they didn’t really lose money because you couldn’t get it from them ! Can they reglaze the bag at a fee so that you can still use it ? ❤
Good discussion. I think most very high end fashion houses, and definitely the big 3 (Hermes, Chanel, LV) won't touch anything from a reseller. I get it. They have a right to do it. Do I think it's silly? Sure, but I get it. But now it's just a matter of the consumer being aware. If you are going to buy pre-loved and you are positive about it's authentication, just be aware that any repairs or refreshes will need to be done by a good quality cobbler or leather worker. You will probably get just as good of work for less money and probably less time. Advice for everyone: if you purchased new from store, keep the receipt (scan it in into your computer and just keep in a folder on google drive) or make sure you have a client account that tracks the purchases, then you can rely on the company itself for repairs/exchanges, etc. If you plan to purchase secondhand, find a good craftsman in your area you trust because once you buy pre-loved that store is done with that item. You most likely can't take it back to the source. I didn't think this was new information. I feel like luxury houses have been doing this for several years now.
Unfortunately, even if you buy new from the store it doesn't matter if you have all receipts. The stores only have a short period of time in which they will do exchanges or repairs at no cost and that period of time seems to be getting shorter and shorter. It can take a few years before something is gone wrong because the same bag isn't used daily.
@sheritee7328 oh, I didn't even count the no cost. I always assume they will charge something for repairs, which is why I said a local craftsman would likely be cheaper. And unless there is a known issue and recall (like that period of time with the pochette metis) I wouldn't think they'd take it back after a certain time. If they offer exchanges for known issues, do it at the time. If you wait years to take it in, they will likely tell you that window has closed, despite the fact that the glazing is a known and acknowledged issue by LV and they did, in fact, take returns and exchanges for a time. Can't sit on your hands with these issues.
I enjoyed seeing the mall where I used to go to all the time, thanks for the journey through the best memories! I am quite disappointed to learn of this new policy with Louis Vuitton! Just last December my DIL had the rings on her Graceful replaced by the LV Boutique in Bellevue Washington. She had purchased it preloved as well, and they asked no questions, replaced the strap rings, and returned it to her within 3 weeks. I have previously purchased a number of items from the same boutique you visited, and I can’t tell you where any of the receipts are. I just never thought to save them. Thanks so much for the “heads up” about their policy change. I believe that if the item is authentic, LV should stand behind their products, especially when there is a defect in the materials they used in their glazing.
Yes, I definitely understand LV's situation from a business stance, but I also believe that since this is a well known problem in the LV manufacturing of this bag, it should be repaired or replaced. They said it wasn't even repairable. I would pay for repair if needed, but that isn't even an option. So happy your DIL had such a great repair experience. That's fabulous!
Jennifer I’m new to your channel and I enjoyed your content! I love the way you go about working a problem out with no hysterics and it might be an unpopular stance to take but there it is. 😘🙌💜
It’s happened to me 5 years or so ago with a bracelet from VCA I bought pre-loved and the boutique did not want to shorten it. They eventually did, but I think if it were now they probably wouldn’t because they want to discourage buying from resellers/second hand and encourage buying from the boutique. Since then I think twice, maybe thrice and buy from the boutique and enjoy the experience. BTW, I agree with your point n sustainability
You might want to check another store because I live in Florida and I bought a preloved item and the store I. Jacksonville replaced my item without a receipt and thar was a month ago
That's too bad about the bag. I think most of the fashion houses have instituted such policies with the rise of pre-loved market. Chanel tried to stop bags from being sold on the pre-loved market, but they weren't successful. I think your bag still looks great and you should continue to use it.
Thank you for sharing that information about LV. I can understand their policy and it makes me rethink purchasing LV preloved. Have you considered the new YSL 5 a 7 hobo in the small size? It has a similar shape to the LV Blossom and it might be the right size for you. I have my eye on it and I would note that it comes in a lovely shade of taupe (your favorite). 😉☺
Hi Jennifer! Sorry to hear about your bag :( however that is true of Hermes and most others too about not taking preloved for repair. And actually Chanel won’t repair or anything after 5 years of age. 🙄
Would LV resolve the issue if you had the original receipt but not in your name? Or if you had the name of original purchaser and LV could verify within their system? Like you, I’m trying to make this make sense.
I have the same issue with bag sizes. I don’t like big bags. I don’t carry a lot but sometimes the smaller size is a tad too small. I liked the Diane in leather but didn’t buy it because of the straps. The short strap is too short for comfortable shoulder wear if you have a coat on but the crossbody strap is that hideous guitar strap.
I would take the bag to a good cobbler. Have them dry the best they can. Either use it or resell it? It sounds like because of the resale business they no longer want to transfer the warranty.
Today is my birthday and seeing that you posted a video is just the best gift! It’s been a lonely day so it was a perfect surprise. 😊 I love your new earrings and the recipe thing is something I would do for sure! 😂 I’m sorry to hear about your bag, I would be devastated!
I would try customer service and a different boutique location. I had the metis replaced 3 times, the most recent was in 2022. However I did buy direct.
Hi Jen The earrings are so cute. Sorry to hear about the bag, that stinks. They know there was a problem with the bag and they know the bag is real. That was a lame excuse in my opinion. How do they know if you buy a bag from them then gift it to say your daughter then years later she gives it back to you because she doesn’t love it anymore then you take it in for a problem they do not know how many people may have used it. Have you thought about calling your Chicago store and asking them what they would do? I am just wondering if they are being difficult because you have not purchased from that store.
Wow! LV policy is sad! This means sellers of pre-loved bags need to provide purchase receipts. I have kept mine and when I have gifted bags (my daughter, granddaughter, sister, nieces) I have given them my receipt for the bag. I hope they kept them!
This was a fun video. I enjoyed seeing what all you purchased and learning about the LV policy. I can only imagine the feeling when you are seriously handing over a receipt to find out it is your recipe printout. I'm curious why Fashionphile has you pick up at NM? Hope you have a great February! Looking forward to your favorites video.
I made another comment earlier, and saw that it posted. I came back to edit it so I can add this… I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING when you told about how you gave the lady your Fashionphile receipt, but it was actually a recipe for a chicken marinade! Toooooooooooo funny! Love that you’re a giggle bug! 😂 ~Christina from SoCal (still not sure what happened to my other comment, but it was a good one. 😉🤷🏻♀️)
Hi Christina! For some strange reason, sometimes comments just won't post, or I'm unable to respond. 🤷🏻♀️ Yes, I can't seem to go out in public without something like that happening. And then I do the "posh" thing and cackle like a loon!
I also have the original pochette Métis circa 2014 that I purchased in Maui. My bag never had any issues until recently. I noticed the EXACT same issue you had, the strap stuck to the bag and the glazing felt mushy. I brought my bag to the Oakbrook IL LV boutique with my original receipt. She had to look up my account through my phone number to verify the purchase!!! That surprised me. You mentioned that the LV store in Chicago offered to replace the bag. The Oakbrook store did not offer to replace the bag at all. They are going to give me a new strap and re glaze the entire bag. It is going to take 3-4 months 😵💫. I wonder if LV is still offering to replace the bags, I was given no options other than repair.
That is very interesting! Oakbrook is the store that offered to replace my bag a few years ago! AND, I was told at the Orlando store that it could not be repaired!! I offered to pay for repairs and they said it can't be done. So frustrating!
@@JustJennifer I was nervous bringing the bag in, I didn’t know what they were going to do since the bag is 10y.o. The LV employee was very nice and apologetic for the condition of the bag. They did waive the repair fee and I was grateful for that. But I’m not sure having the receipt is enough now as they had to check my account for proof of purchase.…..not all my purchases are even on that account so……now what? On a side note, I haven’t shopped at oakbrook for a couple years and I was shocked how it’s changed. The LV store has been remodeled and now they sell shoes and some clothing. There is a Gucci boutique across from LV and YSL boutique next to LV. Lots of revamping/construction still going on too.
I completely agree with LV’s perspective. Unfortunately there are a lot of dishonest people who purchase “used” bags with known defects and try to get a new bag from LV. If I purchase a used Speedy 25 for $900.00. I don’t think it’s fair to go to LV several years later and get a replacement if an issue should arise. LV guaranteed replacement to the original purchaser, not the purchaser of the original purchaser.
The same thing happened to me with Coach recently! I purchased a bag years ago, back when they were lifetime guaranteed. Well, the glazing came off the straps, so I took it in for repair and they tell me their policy changed and will now only repair for one year. How is that okay? Part of the reason I bought it from the boutique in the first place was because it had a lifetime guarantee and they won’t honor it. Ugh!!!
I have experienced something similar at LV too. I have received a LV gift from my friend and would like to repair it, LV refused because they said the item was not purchased under my name. They need that person to contact LV and show the receipt before getting it fixed. Super annoying
It is a known manufacturer defect you could take them to small claims court to get your money back. There are consumer protections and laws for this. Those bags should have been recalled
OMGosh! I burst out laughing and then when you said you got the giggles so did I! and now I'm still chuckling over it! hee hee chicken marinade 'receipt' 🙃🤣🤣 Like when asked, Do you have your driver's license? and pulling out my library card! and handing it over like a boss stating 'YES I do!' ... and getting an 'um, this is your library card' we laughed & laughed 🤣🤣🤣Love the earrings! 🥰sorry about the bag 👜
Seriously. I might just start handing our random recipes here and there as part of my daily adventures. I haven't had such a good laugh in awhile! I LOVE your library card story!!!
Would LV have repaired it, if you offered to pay for repairs? (Eg, like for a car, out of warranty.) In Australia, we have a TH-camr who gets many of her pre loved pieces refurbished, but she pays for it. Just a thought. Great video, and I love your channel.
I have purchased all my LV bags directly from LV except the first one was purchased from a LV area in a Neiman Marcus over the phone. I don’t think I saved my receipts. The first bag is not in their system. Hopefully I don’t have issues with it.
I had a similar experience with buying a Prada handbag from a well known preloved company. Prada will not repair a Prada handbag if it wasn’t bought a their store.
My step daughter recently also went to Louis Vuitton here in Manila to bring her Pochette Accessories bag because the chain broke. She bought it vintage in Japan. They also wouldn’t repair it. They were asking for the receipt. Otherwise they wanted her to buy a new chain instead which was going to cost about $400. I also thought that was outrageous. However, my husband and I recently bought new wallets there and we were told that wallets, suitcases, hard case bags bought from anywhere in the world even without any receipts can be customized with hot stamping and or painting. And we thought that was great service. You win some, you lose some I guess 😅
I’m so sorry about your pochette metis! I’m also between the boulogne and the Diane. My birthday is in a few weeks and I’m trying to decide which one to ask for.
There is a place in Calif...Malibu something that refurbs LV bags. I have seen pix of new vachetta looking stunning. Don't know if they replace glazing, but there has to be a way to fix it. I would cry if my PM did that. I bought an infra rouge...had it on my wish list and watched vids about how the initial runs in Dec. 2016 were having glazing problems. Was fortunate to order from my Nola LV store and got it in Feb 2017 and haven't had a moments problem. My fave LV bag. So disappointing for you but maybe there's hope...good luck.
I asked the manager if it could be repaired at my cost and she said no, it could not be repaired at all. I have a new video now talking about my LV Care Expert appointment. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/t8gT4RevmdQ/w-d-xo.html
I’m sorry that happened to you . But I must say that a lot of places will not take something back without a receipt. Not saying that you stole it but someone may have stolen it and sold it on the pre loved market. This does happen and they would then be out the price of two bags . They would have taken it back with the receipt (that says something that 10 years later they would have!) . As far as preloved market . I believe that many designer stores also sell their excess products on the pre loved market. (They used to destroy their excess products. So I don’t think they necessarily dislike the preloved sites. They can then get some money without having to have discounts or sales which we all know they do not do 😊
Yes, I do understand that. That's exactly why I wanted to look at it from a business standpoint. It's good to know the policy now for when I make decisions going forward. Thanks!
Would the company repair the PM with the issues, asking for a replacement is probably the issue. I’ve purchased preloved LV pieces, I’ve had leather changed on canvas pieces, I’ve had glazing redone and broken zippers changed, I’ve never requested a replacement though, not sure how I feel about it. I ordered the Bouloge, and will get it delivered Saturday, I hope the size works out for me, love the black leather and canvas combo and the strap options, bonus that I can use those on other LV bags I have in my collection.
@@JustJennifer I can wrap my head around them not wanting to fix it for free, not totally agree with it, but this SA saying it is not repairable, doesn’t make sense. I would take it to a different LV store or contact the repair service through the LV app and ask for a FaceTime call and see if repairing it is possible. I wouldn’t leave it to one persons opinion in one store. Handling and storing bags in damp or warm places or in the box vs. just the dust bag can affect a bag’s condition and cause the “melting” of the glazing, the company can’t be held to replace all issues arising from storing situations. I had a glazing issue on a speedy in Empriente leather and was able to return and got full credit for it and it was at least five years old, it was a known issue no matter the how it was stored, I also had a PM in reverse monogram have cracking of the canvas where the bag opened and closed, poor design if you ask me with the new thinner canvas, the monogram canvas which was thicker did not have that issue, I traded it up to an Empriente leather and have had no further issues with cracking as the bag in leather can withstand years of opening and closing without causing cracking. I say try a dif store or the repair team through the app and see if you can get a better response.
Same thing happened with an LV backpack I bought preloved. LV said I could pay for the repair $600 😮, which I opted not to do. Did you allow you the pay for repair if you wanted to?
Jennifer, I am so shocked that LV doesn’t stand behind their products but can literally understand the new policies to save their Company millions. The is just a thought, maybe the Second Hand Market, whichever Company or individual could come up with the original LV receipt. I know this is a shot in the dark, but a 5 minute email, the worse thing they can say No. (What is this lady crazy?) Maybe Second Hand Sites can up their game and require the original receipt to protect the new honest buyer, in case of future issues with the bag, when they visit a genuine LV location. I am so sorry for your experience but maybe You could be our Trailblazer and protect us, as honest and decent buyers! Maybe something positive out of this mess.
I find that very hard to believe that LV won’t take your bag in for repairs. I just sent in my LV Petite Noe to have my strap changed. I bought it pre-loved years ago and I can’t remember if I got it from Fashionphile or Yoogi’s closet. And I didn’t have to provide a receipt. I sent it in back I Jan of this year. Also Living Lux with Meredith sends in all her pre loved bags to get the leather changed out. I think you should speak to another SA or call customer service TBH. That’s so disappointing to hear. And I really hope you get your problem resolved.
I found more success when I downloaded the app and sent pictures to get a quote that way. They quoted to replace a vintage noe bb vachetta within the last 3 months...I have had mixed results in the stores.
When you mentioned your LV having issues i already knew they wouldn’t accept or do anything about it. I know this from experience because way back 2017 my husband bought me the bag and i loved it. But 4 years later the canvas started cracking. So i immediately went to the store where the bag was purchased and the CA told me right away it was a known issue and that she said it will probably get replaced or repair (i know that they wont repair a cracking canvas but she said it) Fast forward i got a call from LV saying that LV will repair my bag but i have to pay $510 for the flap and canvas care. The flap of my bag had no issues and had a beautiful and even patina but the way it was explained to me was that the only way to fix the cracks is to replace the flap because the cracks where on the corners where the weak points is. So i agreed.I was so frustrated and confused but i agreed because i was worried the issues will just get worse. Few months later i got a call that my bag was back from repair. I went and got my bag and surprise surprise my bag wasn’t fixed the cracks was still there and they replace the whole entire flap of my bag. I explained the situation and they didn’t charge me because of the miscommunication. I contacted LV after this and they said that they wont replace because the issues is a sign of usage. I tried selling my bag and no one would buy it. And fashionphile wont even accept it. I was defeated & stressed and learned a hard lesson of not buying too many LV anymore. I have had good experiences with them but i am now very cautious when i buy anything from them.
No, you do not need any proof of purchase. As long as it is authentic, the item itself is enough. If the Sales Associate determines it is fake, you will be kindly informed that it was not manufactured by Louis Vuitton and a repair will not be possible. Will Louis Vuitton repair a pre-loved item that I bought through a reseller? Because Louis Vuitton does not require a sales receipt, it is just as easy to request a repair on a pre-loved piece. Again, as long as it is authentic, it does not matter if you were its first owner or not. However, if the style is very vintage, Louis Vuitton may no longer have the original parts to fix it. If this is the case, Louis Vuitton will not repair the piece
Well, according to the manager at the Orlando Mall at Millenia location...it is authentic. They will not replace it without the original receipt, and it can not be repaired. I have an upcoming appointment with an LV client services person to get more information. I was offered a full replacement in May of 2019 at the Oakbrook LV store. Either things have changed, I was treated poorly and was given incorrect information from the Orlando store manager, or something. Hoping to get to the bottom of it soon. Thank you!
Does LV have a lifetime warranty. I don’t know a company that has that. There has got to be a cut off at some point, otherwise people will ask for repairs 10, 20, 30 etc. years later.
No, they do not have a lifetime warranty. This particular bag has a well known manufacturing issue with the glazing. LV replaced thousands of them, no questions asked. They are no longer honoring that commitment to replace them. I offered to pay for repairs and was told they can not repair it, either.
LV should stand behind their products, regardless of where you obtained the bag. What if it was a gift from an ex? What if it was handed down? No, this is not okay. I am very disappointed.
If it was a gift or handed down I believe they could look up the name of the person who purchased it in their system. Jennifer’s problem is that she doesn’t know the name of the person who originally purchased it because she bought it off a website.
I thought the same thing
I believe people were buying used bags with the goal to return in store and get full credit back. They would buy bags with known defects to profit from the "return".
I believe the issue with your LV bag is humidity. Welcome to Florida.
I can understand this viewpoint. Very well said.
I agree. I remember even up to a couple years ago repairs were always free.
@@epm2012 I agree - try with customer service! I have had things I inherited from the 80's that they have fixed recently.
Maybe try a different LV store. Wonder if you might be able to contact the first store you took it to. I honestly feel it's different from individual manager to manager. You could also contact customer service via online/phone. Just some ideas. Hope all gets resolved.
I agree, try a different store
I keep all my receipts even groceries. I need them in case proof of purchase is required. I keep them until I know I’m satisfied. This is a must in the U.K. I suggest if dealing with Fashionfile choose purchase with original receipt just to be safe in future. You never know❤️
Rago Brothers is reputable and they work on LV, they do glazing. I’ve had them shorten a strap and they did a great job on the glazing.
Thank you!
Same! I also have it in black. I can’t figure out why this bag isn’t more of a hot item because I think it’s amazing.
@@KimFiscus816 My feelings exactly. Also have it in black. It's a gem.
@@conservativegirl3371 That’s it! A sour smell!
I absolutely love that you tell us everything! The recipe thing is so something that I would do and later cry about 😂😂💛💛
😊 I can't be trusted out in public. I always tend to say or do something ridiculous and then I get the giggles. 🤦🏻♀️
I would say my grandmother gifted it to me and don’t know when she purchased it and she is dead. I mean, this is nuts. They should stand behind their merchandise. Even if I had to pay for it out of pocket.
Call customer service I had to do they with my LV store. They wouldn’t budge and customer service worked with me
Also, highly recommend the LV Boulogne in black. I got this last year. It's the perfect travel bag. As you said, not too big or small. Due to both straps, it goes day to night seamlessly. You can pack just this bag and be set. And you can use the straps on other bags as well. The adjustability of the leather strap is awesome too. Glad I got it.
Thank you for this information!
@@JustJennifer You're welcome! Glad to help.
I have the Boulogne and it’s one of my top favorites! Love, love this bag!! I have it in black.
Same! Love the Boulogne also have the black. What a great, versatile bag!
But why is LV not having a secondary used option on their website to sell? Then they would lose less money that way. 🤔
I have many, many bags and I looovve the Bolougne bag. So so good!! Honestly probably the best LV bag, yep I said it
Oooh! Good to know, thanks!
This is great information. Thank you for keeping us up to date on possible new policies that might cost us.
Love it !! I need that bag ❤
Also it’s not always that people are trying to save money buying preloved. Sometimes the bag is discontinued and not available anymore
Exactly! That is usually the reason I shop preloved!
BTW, I didn’t have the receipt because it was about 10 years old. LV had problem with the glazing and they know it!!!!
It is not due to humidity!!! I live in California which is dry.
I love preloved too. Have you thought about having the bag repaired? I know its more cost to you, but that maybe an option.. I don't know.
I knew that with LV. What you can do is only buy preloved that has an authentic reciept. Most sellers know this and offer it. Good luck.🎉
The earrings are lovely! Laughed out loud at your recipe story-totally something I would have done.
I bet you can find a reputable shoe cobbler that can clean up your bag. Don’t give up on it yet!!
Thank you Monica. 😘
Submit the form online for a repair. They will charge for the repair however but no receipt required
Hi Jennifer! Sorry to hear about your bag :( however that is true of Hermes and most others too about not taking preloved for repair. And actually Chanel won’t repair or anything after 5 years of age. 🙄
Love the earrings, perfection!
Oh my. I have to rethink the preloved market. Thank for the info
Today is my birthday and seeing that you posted a video is just the best gift! It’s been a lonely day so it was a perfect surprise. 😊 I love your new earrings and the recipe thing is something I would do for sure! 😂 I’m sorry to hear about your bag, I would be devastated!
Happy Birthday!! 🎉 I'm happy I could join you on your special day! 😘
I'm sorry you've experienced that with LV. It definitely made think twice of buying LV pre-loved, and i love getting items pre-loved.
I would try customer service and a different boutique location. I had the metis replaced 3 times, the most recent was in 2022. However I did buy direct.
Hi Jen
The earrings are so cute.
This is unfortunate. Is it that they will not fully replace the bag AND will not repair it either if purchased pre-loved? 😮
Fashionphile and NM work together has been that way for over a year
Thank you@@katemiller7874
It was released in 2012.
I did know that it could only be replaced if bought at an LV Boutique. And they can see if you’ve bought it with them on file that they can look up.
Or they simply don’t want to replace the bag at no cost . Perhaps they may even have a timeline for items purchased in store?
The same thing happened to me with Coach recently! I purchased a bag years ago, back when they were lifetime guaranteed. Well, the glazing came off the straps, so I took it in for repair and they tell me their policy changed and will now only repair for one year. How is that okay? Part of the reason I bought it from the boutique in the first place was because it had a lifetime guarantee and they won’t honor it. Ugh!!!
Jennifer if you have a regular SA you've used before maybe reach out to them for help LV should stand by glazing issues
I have experienced something similar at LV too. I have received a LV gift from my friend and would like to repair it, LV refused because they said the item was not purchased under my name. They need that person to contact LV and show the receipt before getting it fixed. Super annoying
I'd reach out to them directly through their website and see if they would help.
It is a known manufacturer defect you could take them to small claims court to get your money back. There are consumer protections and laws for this. Those bags should have been recalled
Im loving those sunglasses, Jennifer!!!
I offered to pay for repairs. They say it can't be done. Thank you!
I have purchased all my LV bags directly from LV except the first one was purchased from a LV area in a Neiman Marcus over the phone. I don’t think I saved my receipts. The first bag is not in their system. Hopefully I don’t have issues with it.
The took my burgundy speedy 30 back and credited me with the entire price and the bag was at least 10 years old…bought at the boutique.
Hi is your necklace a David yurman piece? It’s lovely
Hi! It is a mother of pearl pendant go.magik.ly/ml/2058x/ that I put on a 14k snake chain I already had!
I had a similar experience with buying a Prada handbag from a well known preloved company. Prada will not repair a Prada handbag if it wasn’t bought a their store.
Ok the recipe at the end was the best. I’m certain we are related after that story. lol so many times I’ve done similar things. Too many to count.
Love the earrings you have on. Do you know the brand?
I’m so sorry about your pochette metis! I’m also between the boulogne and the Diane. My birthday is in a few weeks and I’m trying to decide which one to ask for.
Thank you. We have great taste in bags! 😘 Happy Birthday, and good luck with your decision!
Thank you!
Re the LV bag~could the bag not be repair at your own cost? My store in the UK has done this on several occasions, never asking for proof of purchase🤔
I asked the manager if it could be repaired at my cost and she said no, it could not be repaired at all. I have a new video now talking about my LV Care Expert appointment. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/t8gT4RevmdQ/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful earings, enjoy!
Thank you!
Thanks!
Love your sunglasses! Do you mind me asking who makes them?
Thank you! Here they are: go.magik.ly/ml/1s1x0/
Unfortunately I was told it cannot be repaired.
I asked to pay for repairs and was told it can't be repaired. I now believe that is not true... I am working on finding out!
What brand is the mini face powder with mirror? Been looking for something like that! Thanks

(What is this lady crazy?)
Maybe Second Hand Sites can up their game and require the original receipt to protect the new honest buyer, in case of future issues with the bag, when they visit a genuine LV location.
*preloved noe bb (not store bought by myself or with receipt)
Thank you! I will try that.
I would definitely go to another LV store and ask, maybe they just didn’t know what they were talking about.
Love your videos! Try and get a second opinion on the Metis! It’s like a doctor, they all went to school but don’t have the same information! Hugs! ❤️
Thank you! Will do!
LV should stand behind their products, regardless of where you obtained the bag. What if it was a gift from an ex? What if it was handed down? No, this is not okay. I am very disappointed.
Absolutely! So many mommies save bags to hand down to their babies, this is ridiculous.
Omg… I would write head office in France!
I think it is their way to push customers away from preloved.
If it was a gift or handed down I believe they could look up the name of the person who purchased it in their system. Jennifer’s problem is that she doesn’t know the name of the person who originally purchased it because she bought it off a website.
An ex ? I’d throw it away. I married my love and literally auctioned off my ex purchased broken for charity
What is that a patent for behind you?
