  • The second in a series of lectures Mr. MacCarthy gave at Stetson which he has graciously allowed me to post here. Terry is a good friend, and a National Treasure! I commend him to you wholeheartedly. He is the master of teaching cross.

5 minutes of helpful insight 52 minutes of story telling

    1. Control is important - but not everything
    2. Don't argue or quibble with the witness
    3. Tell a story, a theme - a better theme wins
    4. Don't give a boring brief in the courtroom
    5. Communication is vitally important, look people in the eyes
    6. Make your points in points of three's
    7. You want people to like you
    8. Smile
    9. Body language is more important than substance or terms (probably won't be
    in a commonwealth jurisdiction)

This is fantastic even almost ten years later. If you want a quicker version charlie rose has you covered in other videos, but this is well worth a listen to all eight parts

Dido. Nice old guy, but I'm older than him by about 10 years, and this was a waste of my time. Many hours for 30-60 minutes of great stuff, no doubt if you can stay awake.... BR

This is the most unstructured and least informative old man rant I've seen in a long time.
