Thanks so much bud. I am painting a model at the moment that JUST uses violet to start every color and using the examples I've given here, I'll post the pics on socials today, but I'm filming the whole painting process too and it will be on my Patreon the next 1-2 days
This may be an old theory, but, as you will see from the huge amount of comments I'm receiving that its not something that is known by everyone and can be a great 'tool' in any painters arsenal. As for the amount of pigments in the paints...I'm not sure there is a great deal of relevance in that, each painter will use the paints they have and can STILL mix and develop they're own colors creating different tones and nuances, and yes, different brands of paint may give slightly different results, but it can still be done. I am using AK Interactive paints and can achieve many colors and nuances, I've also done this with Kimera paints and can get the same results...
Came from Instagram, good video, food for thought. I mix most of my colours when painting, but don't usually venture too boldly away from what I know will work. I guess there's more ranges I can push into to add richer colour variants
Thank you bud. This video came about really from the 'vibe' I was getting from a few of my students and showing them that they can mix other colors into existing colors to make much 'richer' and more vibrant tones, glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Michael, I think you could use this video and adapt it in your own works, but I'll look into bud, always happy to make more vids on this subject. I'll have another one in the series uploading very soon
You can see some images here of how this video can be applied, only WIP and not complete, but you can see what i've done: instagram.com/p/C4cPSRQRe6k/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
@@brushmaster66 For me I'd say either red or green. Love deep, yet solid reds. For green, it might be something another themed video, but I'm really curious about making some green look like blue when placed with the right other colors. Like the recent Galen-video by Kimera. Like the illusion of colors depending on the surroundings? Whatever you'll do I'll see it :)
I’m very much looking forward to seeing the rest. You got some gorgeous emerald and teals out of this one and those browns were amazing. I’ve never considered mixing my own but now, look out world! 😂 Keep up the amazing work and thank you!
COOL!!! I've just finished filming that one bud and it looks great, I'll get it edited real soon and uploaded, the different tones I can get out of green are amazing@@pmastroeni79
Yeah, there are many that can be used. I use colors like pale yellow, ice yellow, light orange, sunny skin tone. Theres a whole bunch that are basically colored whites...
This is great info! I found the background music really distracting unfortunately, hopefully thst gets dropped or switced to something slower pace to match the energy of the vid
Thanks a lot. Learned a lot and was looking into colour theory with an AK book on it. Some von constructive criticism: I find your background music too dominant. Would have liked something easier on the ear.
lovely and very educational thank you! not to be rude but your pallet is slightly out of focus (your hand was the focus height) and the main camera needs some more light :) 😊
I think you may be selling yourself short by calling this color "theory". This is "applied color science"! Fantastic demonstration!
Thank you so much bud, I hope everyone just enjoys my way of using color
I’ve always known this was how colors blended but you have shown how to practically apply it. Thank you for spelling it out for us, really well done!
Thank you, more to come…
Enjoyed the video. I'd love to see how you broke that down and actually chose where to apply the different color variations on the model itself.

This is old-fashioned colour theory. It also depends entirely on the pigments in the paints.

Wow, learned a lot. Very nice series. Look forward to the next one. Might I suggest doing green?
Thank you so much, the green one is done and up now
Very interesting video, thanks for taking the time, really makes you think about colour choices.
Thanks Tony, hope you got something out of it, I found it interesting to make
Would be nice to see something similar done with colors from the CMY color wheel.

Cool, I was thinking Green bud, one of my favourite colors, can do so much with it@@torgerkltte6072
Well done man! Here’s to hoping you turn this into a miniseries! Cheers!
Thank you so much my friend, and yes, I will do all the major colors in the series

Green, that’s a color! I’ve got a few orks I’ve been wanting to paint but I’m tired of the GW style. Can’t wait to see what you put together!

19:32 "This little exercise of exploring different colors is valuable."🤣 Color value!🤣
Thank you, great fun to make this sort of vid
The AK yellow is similar to unbleached titanium, which many painters use to highlight instead of white.

@@brushmaster66 Hell yeah. Looking forward to the series

Thank you my friend, I'll try and turn the music down a bit more in the next one, which will be on GREEN very soon

Thanks for the comment, and yes, I haven't got a great camera set up, I'll try to improve for the next one
Interesting, but hard to hear sometimes over your music.
Thank you and sorry about the music, its difficult to get the level right, I'll do no music in the next one
great video, only it sucked because your lighting is very poor! Re-shoot this video with proper lighting so we can see the colors!
Thanks bud, and yes, sorry about that, I'll try to improve the lighting next time
