I was never exposed to the public education system until I was undergoing my teacher training in Chicago public schools, required by the university I was receiving my post-graduate education at, a double Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Curriculum Development. After a 4 day start, the Chicago public teachers went on strike. They gleefully made their plans to go on "vacation." As I was not a member of the unions, I continued to show up to educate the children. I never accepted a contract from a public school, where I could have made almost double the money as a professional teacher, nor joined a teachers' union. I went to work for private schools for my career, as I could never abandon the children in that way. Public education in the US needs a serious overhaul, but the workers have been unionized and forget that teaching is a vocation. Public education has been purposely ruined to control the masses. I live in what is considered a very good public school district and we were ridiculed for sending our child to private school and paying fees, instead of buying all of the latest things and driving Mercedes-Benzes. But my child was not indoctrinated with nonsense and was taught to think for himself.

Well, Trump told Joe Kernen in a March 11, 2024 interview that “there is a lot” that can be done to cut “entitlements,” meaning Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. First, those are not “entitlements” because they’re funded by taxes paid by working people who are increasingly poor these days and will have to rely on Social Security and Medicare simply to live in their old age. These are not entitlements, but a matter of life and death to millions of Americans. Trump has shown the same sort of callous disregard for victims of school shootings, whom he declines to protect with bans on assault weapons.
