STXY just puts you in a great moood!! I was born for Adventure, women, whisky and SIN! WHOOO! WHOOA! WHOAAAAA!!!!....yeahea, yeaheea.Yeaheeaaaa!! ....Thank God for His Great mercy and creating the band Styx!! Music and especially music from Styx has definitely made my life more happy!
Dennis has clearly stated that this was recorded right after Tommy joined. That’s him singing harmonies and playing guitar. No lead vocals were added by TS yet.
...I keep hoping for more live recordings (if available) from the band during this time period...an archival box set of early-mid 70s live stuff would be a true gift for Styx fans...
Not just Tommy's decision. So what if DDY wrote those hits. You do realize there are anywhere from 8-10 songs per album and there were 3 other songwriters. Styx fans are Styx fans because of JY, Chuck and John, John Curulewski AND Tommy Shaw, not just DDY. Yeah, it sucks because he was great, but he wanted to go in a direction nobody else did. Why can't DDY fans recognize that? They wanted to be a rock band, not a ballad/show tune/soft rock opera band. I miss him, but they're doing what they want to do, not what he wanted them to do.
@@isaacg4511 ~ Any tours from the Wooden Nickel era with John Curulewski on guitar and vocals, pre-Tommy Roland Shaw. Thanks! PS: l liked, subscribed and hit the notification bell as well. If you’re an American, Happy Holiday Weekend! 🎆
John Curlewski quit Styx just days before the Equinox tour. Jim Vose found Tommy Shaw playing in a bowling alley and brought him to Styx whose only requirement was to hit the high notes in Lady. After Tommy was officially part of Styx did they realize how great he was on guitar, vocals, and songwriting. Crystal Ball was written before Tommy joined.
What sucks about this? This epitomized the sound of 70's rock! Plus, they were opening up for Deep Purple for fu(KS sake!!! Did you want them to play "Christopher, Mr. Christopher" or "Unfinished Song"? That's right, for the most part 2 ballads in their first 5 albums...back when they were a rock and roll band, and playing some pretty heavy stuff! This was 1975, there was no "Babe" or "Mr Roboto" yet...lol
Born for Adventure. What a GREAT intro opening song!

You’re riding on the train of eternal wrath and judgement heading straight to hell.

Yea someone already told me that in the comments
Where did Dennis say this? I think this show was recorded in February of 1975 and Tommy didn't join the band until the end of 1975.
@@billhayes7014 Dennis talked about it on his facebook page.
Yup Tommy was there - can hear his style in the guitar. Love this!!!!

Tommy Shaw is evil to prevent Dennis from playing with the band that he wrote and composed seven of their eight hit songs for. Shame on you Tommy!

Post something from the Tom Nardini era.
Dennis posted this on FB. He says Tommy was in the band but didn't do any lead vocals.

@@isaacg4511 I will! But I thought you'd like to know Dennis himself highlighted this for us to find.
that is absolutely Tommy Shaw on this recording deyoung had just hired him in November 1975
Yes I know I was corrected by someone in the comments. Thanks for watching
Dennis hired Tommy who ended up kicking him out of the band. Shame on Tommy!
