2025 is NOT “the fountain’s Jubilee”. 2025 it’s the catholic church Jubilee, and since they expect even more tourists than usual, they have renovated a bunch of tourist sights, including Fontava di Trevi.
Rumor has it a model of the Palace of Justice in Brussels has been gathering dust on a Lego designers shelf waiting for the end of its renovations but they recently started work modelling the Palaces scaffolding that is being renovated.
They've come out with a second Trevi Fountain set? 😮😮😣😣🙄🙄 Is every LEGO set I have destined to be replaced with a bigger, better set? Is this 5' tall Eifel Tower I am currently building going to be replaced with a 20' tall set? 😮😮
Seems that way these days. But it may not happen. I love my little Eiffel Tower. The small one they released first. I haven't built the Arc Du Triumph yet. But I did build the Louvre. I love the small-scale myself. It's just enough to remind me of my trip to France, and wallet friendly compared to larger sets. Though this Trevi Fountain looks more accurate and detailed. And with the prices of old sets in retirement, it may be worth spending double the BL value on the small, to get the big one instead of the old one.
I've been so confused about this "new" Trevi Fountain and I guess I missed the memo - I still have my Lego architecture Trevi Fountain from 10 years ago and it looks great! I wonder what the reasoning is for the update. I would guess it has double the pieces, as they did two USA White Houses as well - one much larger than the other.
You really did miss the memo. to catch you up basically took all their non licenced lines and split them down the middle half for kids half for adults and architecture is on the adult side. That means we will get far fewer architecture sets but the ones we doing get are going to be expensive and we wont be seeing $30 sets on shelves anytime soon.
Thanks BF. Designer Lego stated that certainly the fountain is predominantly white (a colour closer to that of travertine, which is iridescent throughout the day and depends on the light of course), but that they added warm colours to restore the atmosphere of a hot summer day in Rome. If they had wanted to recreate the night scene from Fellini's La dolce vita, with Mastroianni and Ekberg bathing in the fountain, would they have done it in grey? Luckily they chose the setting of Roman Holiday ahhahah. What do you think BF, is the light so important that they had to change the colour of the fountain?
I have been to the real place in Rome and it's surprisingly cramped and quite claustrophic. It is such a small place for an atraction that gets so many visitors. As for the lego set I could wait till it's on offer maybe Smythstoys, Argos or John Lewis might have it on offer by the final quarter of the year.
The Trevi Fountain is hard to do justice.. but they did it well. I was there 2019 but was mostly annoyed because there were too many people.. not just next to the fountain but a 5 block radius around it was just packed.. and that wasn't in tourist season. The Sagrada Familia would be way harder. If you want to do it well I think it will be a massive set.
Rome is expected to have around 30 million extra tourists this year for the Catholic Holy Jubilee Year (Usually every 25 years) so that’s a lot more potential buyers of this set… Especially when Lego is very unlikely to ever make a Saint Peter’s Basilica set and the Colosseum set so expensive.
Sagrada Familia would probably a very fun set to build. I think and hope you are right it will come soon. It probably would be a lot better of a set than the trevi fountain. I personally dont like that set at all, based on what I have seen so far. Well maybe I have to see it first in person.
I went to Rome for the first time in October so of course the Trevi Fountain had to be surrounded by a barrier 😅 but hey at least I can throw Lego coins in this version
I try to only buy sets that speak to me. That I have connection to otherwise I would just be buy so many. I love ancient Egyptian history and so I got the Great Pyramid. I have seen the Trevi Fountain but I don't have great memories because it was sooooooo crowded. This set is stunning so I'm really torn about of I'm going to get it. My dream would be an ancient Greece set.
Bruh my first visit to Rome was in November and it was very much under construction 😂 crazy timing that its now back to normal, but thats what I expected since this 2025 is the Jubilee year (last one being in year 2000)
Very meh. I really wish they would’ve visited new subject matter. Yes this is obviously bigger, better and more detailed than the previous one, but we’ve already had this.

Thank you for the clarification!
@@brick_fanatics the Jubilee is a celebration held every 25 years. I lived in Rome in 2000, when the last Jubilee was, and it was pretty crazy.
Ahahah il bro ha decisamente sbagliato
Lego Sagrada Familia would be absolutely insane. LEGO can take all my money
😍
Comes with a GWP Tram set and minifigure (18+)
I know, right? That build would be awesome

Can you believe people throw money away on wishes instead of lego.🙄
Wishing for more LEGO I bet😂
I love every time you do history lesson videos to give sets their proper context.
* Thor smashes coffee cup * ANOTHER!

Probably yes. Easier to rehash the same old stuff (see Lego Star Wars) than be truly original.

New from lego! You can now build a life sized model of the Eiffel tower!!

Nice balance of LEGO info, humor, and length of video 👍
Who knew there was enough Lego-related history to make this a regular event.
The Elizabeth tower was actually call St Stephens tower before ot was renamed for Queen Elizabeth the seconds jubilee

It looks minifig scale, so I might get it. It looks actually pretty great, and in that scale it might fit in my city.
It's not actually minifig scale. Just using minfigs for the statues. In person it's a lot bigger.
The Lego Designer said it is not minifig scale.
its not, those are 2 street lamps in the front corners for a sense of scale
Definitely not minifigure scale. The real fountain is quite huge. The minifigures they use are for statues are far bigger than humans in real life.

It’s a bit simple and detail-lacking for something that’s 18+ and at that price… Hard pass.

I'm a big fan of these history lessons!!😊
Idk why there's so much fussing over this set when there was already a version released in 2014 that nobody cared about
I wonder how long it will take until this whole set turns yellow from the sun?
1-2 years probably
my thoughts exactly 😅 absolute worst thing when buying sets with lots of white parts

The only thing this video needs is a tin foil hat

not gonna get it, but I like that they are using minifigs in the design
Another entertaining history lesson. Thanks!

Roma la città più bella al mondo ❤
Just a comment :)
